Boko Haram attacks College of Agriculture in Yobe, over 30 students killed

Boko Haram gunmen this morning Sunday September 29th stormed the student dormitory of the College of Agriculture in Gujba, Yobe State, shooting students as they slept, killing at least 30 of them. The death toll could be way higher as several dead bodies were recovered from hostels, classrooms, bushes and corners around the school.

Area Military spokesman Lazarus Eli confirmed the incident and said that security forces have been deployed to the school to protect surviving students until they can all leave the campus. Eli said the attack was carried out by “Boko Haram terrorists who went into the school and opened fire on students while they were sleeping"

  80. Another very unfortunate mass murder in Yobe. Since the several recent massacres in Borno and Yobe states, it is obvious that Boko Haram is not only killing Igbos or Christians as the media tend to portray it. The whole students murdered are Muslims....and even the 42 children murdered some two months back in a Secondary school were all Muslims. In banisheik, a village in Borno state, over 161 people were murdered and they are Muslims. What has the CAN president said about this? He kept silent. I think it is high time people should not politicize some issues or create room for religious bigotry just because they want to be heard. May the souls of our brothers and sisters murdered by boko haram rest in peace. Paradise is their abode by God's grace.

too bad its in that same rest that they loose their lives
its not because God made a mistake for giving sleep...no not at all!
but man has lost his fear of God and respect for the lives of others
it could have been anyone else in that dorm sleeping unsuspecting of the terror ahead
i lament this lose because i was once a student with a hostel bed of my own
as we mourn this ones who would have been leaders in their own capacity
i pray to God to help us overcome this painful shedding of innocent bloods
because no man has a right to take the life of another.....except backed by the law

Maybe it is about time Northern Nigeria reconsiders the inclusion of sharia law as part of their constitution. religious beliefs are supposed to be personal , hence agreeing to include it as a civic or regional responsibility and enforcement I believe has contributed to this mess that is archival, barbaric and archaic which only but fosters stereotypes in this region.

May the souls of these students rest in peace... It's unfortunate we have weak fiscal policies and this incident is going to repeat itself again in the near future in the north, no matter how many 'God forbid' we choose to utter.

  154. Is it not better we negotiate to make Yobe and Borno an Independent State, so that they will need a Visa to come to Nigeria

  155. My advise is that those people who are not from the north should relocate so that the northerner can be killing themselves

  156. od gives his beloved rest
too bad its in that same rest that they loose their lives
its not because God made a mistake for giving sleep...no not at all!
but man has lost his fear of God and respect for the lives of others
it could have been anyone else in that dorm sleeping unsuspecting of the terror ahead
i lament this lose because i was once a student with a hostel bed of my own
as we mourn this ones who would have been leaders in their own capacity
i pray to God to help us overcome this painful shedding of innocent bloods
because no man has a right to take the life of another.....except backed by the law

  161. Hooraay! Yippieee!! Secondary schl children, college students and a lot of innocents bn killed. What a great acheivement.
Let them continue killing those that have not wronged them in any way. What wrong has a student done to any of them? These are pple trying to make something outa their life, innocent pple that believe that one day things will be better. I know the country has a lot of problems but these innocents are not the cause. Why kill people that are victims of a corrupt system? Why kill children whose biggest problem at the moment is how 2 use 3 cubes of sugar wout mummy noticing? Why kill students whose major prblm is making the 8:00am lecture? What ve these innocents done to anybody? Why are they bn targetted?
Remember that these innocents have a soul. What's the joy in all these? To all those who ve shed the blood of these kids, you know where u belong to. What kinda coward kills a child in his sleep?
At least you'll all rest when you've succeded in wiping out the next generation of northerners whose ideology and education wld ve arrested the poverty and backwardness of the region.
Carry on I tell you! God is not asleep and everyman will be rewarded accordingly.
To the students who lost their lives and to all those in the north who remain in school in defiance to Tyranny and extremism, we salute you, and have the assuarance that our prayers are with you always. Ride on we say; for all of you are the real unsung heros in this war against terrorism. Rest in peace brothers in arms.
