Exclusive: Mike Adenuga walks out on Glo staff at birthday bash

This happened last night Friday May 3rd at Mike Adenuga Tower on Adeola Odeku street in Victoria Island. Hundreds of staff of telecoms giant Globacom gathered at the lounge situated on the ground floor of the office building to celebrate with their chairman after a text message was passed round the office on Thursday afternoon inviting staff to a birthday bash with him. Mike Adenuga turned 60 on Monday April 29th.

Okey Bakassi was there as the MC, the DJ was already playing music, drinks passed round while people waited for the billionaire businessman to arrive. Mike Adenuga eventually showed up in his Range Rover bullet proof SUV around 8pm. He graciously greeted people at the entrance of the lounge but stopped in his tracks as people started cheering loudly as he entered the lounge.

The haling was so loud and probably too much for Adenuga that he immediately turned around and left the lounge. He got into his car and left with his security detail. He never came back.

Glo staff waited for a few hours and eventually left when they realized their chairman was not coming back. Lesson learnt: Mike Adenuga doesn't appreciate unnecessary famzing! :-)

    2. Point of correction Linda, Otunba Mike Adenuga did not walk out on us.

He was only overwhelmed with the crowd and cheers and he didn't how best to acknowledge it.

He waved at us and left.

It's because of people like you that he didn't stay.

      We appreciate his appearance!!!

      That's all.

Nigerians like too much ayeye anyway and maybe he's been to 3 totally worthless gatherings that day already and he thought wtf i'm going home now since this is within my jurisdiction.

  54. Typical of Nigerian staff to think ass-licking and unnecessary accolades is acceptable to all. It's a place of work for goodness sake, not a market or night club. What happened to simple applause?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Well majority of the staffs that attended the function were those who work in MAT. Others couldn't just be bothered. And Linda, the crowd wasn't much cos the lounge used can hardly contain 50 people. The truth is that staffs didn't turn up. Mike has been edgy since the whole super Eagles thing and the publicised outbursts from the staffs. This is not the 1st time he'll walk out on a function. If he was in talking terms with Paddy, paddy would have been the one sent in his place..

  110. I sincerely believe it is not pride, because he made the attempt by leaving his house to d venue, so he had intentions to have respected his staff plans.so pls stop saying it is cos o pride.

  111. Was it a suprise stuff

  112. There is a reason for every action..

  113. The criticism is unfair. I don't believe he achieved his success by being an idler. He might have many appointments to squeeze into his day. He could have been tired or felt unwell. Men of his stature just can't party whenever there's a party. Be understanding, people

  114. Everybody should leave my boss alone, things are much much better in glo now and we are very happy

    ReplyDelete
  115. He does not stop all the accolades in all the newspapers on his birthday, snipers in his own office building and to walk out on his own staff, says a lot about him as a leader.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Im sure he must have gotten an alert to vacate the venue immediately 4 security reasons

    ReplyDelete
  117. The last time I checked, it was a PRIVATE party. Just as u said in the write up 'an sms was sent to all staff..." Emphasis on the words 'Staff' and 'Private'. Since when did a private party organized for staff become an item of public debate??? Jeeez. So the man walked out; so freaking what? He is MIKE ADENUGA, he can jolly well do what he so desires. If u are not looking for cheap publicity, then I would advice u to look for some other interesting topic for pple to comment on. Abi u dey find largesse ni??? You beta talk. It can be arranged. Wink Wink

  122. It's a known fact that common sense isn't common. Where there are reasonable and meaningful observations there also would be foolish ones. Where there are judgements made out of a clear conscience there also would be judgements made out of pure jealousy, senselessness, irresponsibility and stupidity. I personally think Mike Adenuga, has a reason to suddenly turn back and instead of some fools here bashing him for no reason. If he felt the staffs are below him he wouldn't have bothered to attend in the first place. I hate when people don't use their senses and understand that there are reasons for certain unexpected or weird actions.

You fools can talk all you want but the fact remains that despite your judgements his staffs still love him and would be quick to admit there was a reasonable reason to his actions on Friday.

  134. As for me, That was just Gross disrespect on his part..... and as for the staff I believe they may have gon over board...his just an ordinary man like them, the only difference is that he's their rude and ungrateful boss that money and all his achievements has gotten into his head. However, its only in Nigeria sure thing will happen! where a boss walks out of his party with no major hiccup and staff waste their precious time to celebrate with someone who does not appreciate the gesture! *HISSING and SMH*

Boss can sack anyone, anytime, anywhere. He sacked a friend inside the elevator just because the guy didn't dress smart (according to chairman)....
Do you know why GLO doesn't partake in the Nigerian Telecoms Games? Boss has told anyone interested in playing that "If you lose your football match to MTN just resign from the football pitch"...so boss is not just a non famzing bawzzzzz he's also a bad loser... HBD Bawzzzzz

  146. Nigerians love giving reasons and excuses for other people especially people with means and influence could it be this poverty mentality or a slavery mind set left behind by the British?. Arrogance is now been confused for been a recluse . Question was the man a recluse before making money? Arrogance
