Basketmouth acquires custom made Insignia car; 1st person in Africa to own it

One of the biggest comedians to come out of Africa, Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth has just taken delivery of the 2013 Opel Insignia car. I heard from a close source to the comedian that it's a bespoke car, meaning that everything was built to Basketmouth's specification. The car is actually not sold at any showroom in the world...you can only order it. And Basketmouth's car I hear, is the only one that has been ordered in Africa. That means no one else has this car in Africa. The car sells for about 42 thousand pounds. Now that's big! Wow! Congrats Basket!!!

42k dolls is just 7.2 million. And that's for a custom vehicle.

Linda has a conventional infinity that cost 8million.

      This shouldn't be news. NEXT!!

    2. 42k pounds not dollars and that's a freaking 10500000naira, how many pple can afford to splash all that money on a car. Here in d US, we don't drive opel so I guess its a big deal in Europe. Rejoice with him when Linda got hers, we rejoiced with her.

  35. "Custom made" is a bit far fetched.

You have a set of options you can choose for the car.
It's not like you can say "I want a fridge in it"
It's a defined list of options that anyone can add-on to their car depending on availability and time. You cannot choose anything not on that list

Most car web-sites have this feature if you are buying a new car and never require a face to face meeting.

Still it's custom made anyways.. & Basket is a top dude so good 4 him

  45. Madam i understand the need to hype achievements but the Vauxhall (opel) Insignia is no where near 42k even if it was custom built. Nobody in their right senses spends 42k on any opel make. 79. Sometimes Linda, you should try not to hype certain things. Our incessant materialism as a people is what has landed us in the mess we are in as a country. You should know that and hold back on your comments. Whether you know it or not, you are encouraging young people to believe that flashy things are all that matter in life.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Darling Linda, it is surprising you would carry such a story. If you are buying a brand new car from the manufacturers, you are given the opportunity to build it to your spec. What that simply means is you are given the opportunity to choose the engine size, the body shape, external and internal features you would like your car to have. So its a little different from the normal range of that particular vehicle. All the added features or even removed features add or reduce from the starting price for the vehicle. I decided to comment so that Nigerians do not put eye on the poor boy (basketmouth). So in principle, its like going to subway and asking for what you want in the type of bread you select.

I think poverty has really eaten deep into our fabric. What's there to celebrate in buying a car? People own the brand and are making billions from mere consumers like you. Every new car ordered is custom-built to the owner's taste because you have thousands of add-ins that you may or may-not need. Since when has that become a headline news? Olodo!

  102. What's the point of posting news on someone buying a car? albeit a top of the range one!? Linda, you do realise that you promoting materialism so much will only cause the average Nigerian to want to live above their means and may cause them to resort to all sorts to achieve that. Know that this isn't a 'fair' society where hard work as we know it necessarily pays off...plus between you and me it's also a bit tacky!;)

  114. £20,000 not £40K. Infact, you can get a brand new
one from Doves Car for £13,500. Evans Halshaw
selss for £14, 500. Anold Clark sells for £15, 190. So,
    there you have it.
Converting this money to Naira is actually a huge
    amount, so, kudos to Basketmouth.

  115. 1. The car is a budget car and cheap
    2. Arnold Clark sells a fully loaded brand New one
for £13,200(plus 20% VAT). That is about
    N3,300,000.
    3. If you export it, you reclaim VAT and the price
    comes down to N2,640,000
    4. Add shipping and clearing and you can purchase
the car without middle man(car dealer) fees for less
    than N4M
Congrats to Basket man though, but lets stop all
    this embarrassing hype.
