EFCC arrests former CBN governor, Charles Soludo

Former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, was Thursday arrested  by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).

He was picked up from his Abuja residence a source in EFCC confirmed to Vanguard.
Vanguard gathered that Soludo’s arrest was in connection with the controversial contract he awarded for the printing of polymer currency notes to an Australian firm while he was governor of the CBN between 2006 and 2008.

It was not clear as at the time of filing the report if the operatives would release the former Anambra State Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate. (Vanguard)

    3. I agree it is too much, because we never see †̥ђε̲̣̣̣̥ end of †̥ђε̲̣̣̣̥ numerous arrest, EFCC is beginning to loose what little credibility it had because all they do is witch hunt, they shouldn't bother arresting people if they won't be sentenced to jail terms,
Corruption should be taking seriously in this country aand sanctions imposed on offenders like 20yrs in prison etc, it shouldn't be just about frequent arrests.

SOLUDO DEALT WITH NORTHERN ABOKIS WHEN HE BROUGHT DOWN DOLLAR FROM N170 TO N117,THEY ARE OUT TO GET HIM AT ANY TIME,FOR GEJ,HE IS JUST DIGGING HIS OWN GRAVE BECAUSE THOSE PARASITES FROM THE NORTH WILL MAKE SURE HE SERVE 21 YEARS AFTER HIS TENURE,I DON'T HAVE ANY FEAR ABOUT SOLUDO,HE WILL DEFEAT ALL HIS ENEMIES JUST LIKE DORA AKUNYILI WAS DISGRACED IN A SENATORIAL SEAT AFTER SHE BETRAYED SOLUDO ON 2010 ELECTION IN ANAMBRA STATE.

  50. who holds the largest cash in hand of US dollars in Nigeria? the answer is the Muslim north, why are they the dominant holders of foreign currency in Nigeria? why do they operate this business thru a network of small dealers all over the country without any challenge, what do they do with or intend to do with it? what currency does Boko H prefer?.
These questions will lead to something larger in future if not in the present.
If Soludo is arrested so be it, he has not shown himself to be a change agent but a part of the problem.
Note also that Anambra state is now an oil producing state with a river that will enable oil shipment. The Gov of such a state is important.
We will not know why he is arrested if we dont ask how he suddenly became super rich.
Not forgetting the fact that others from other tribes who stole money were released one would wonder how corrupt people can remove corruption. Nigeria is in serious trouble but catching world attention.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Somfin tells me dis has 2 do with d Anambra State elections dat would b comin up very soon. Using EFCC 4 witch hunting instead of d real purpose it was established. SMH 4 Naija...

    ReplyDelete
  52. If he stole money let him be prosecuted and purnished (i doubt if curruption in high places will allow that anyway).
But i also have this to say: Soludo stepped on the toes of the 'almighty North' with 25 billion minimum capital base for banks policy - only Fidelity and Unity bank survived as 'northern banks'. I'm sure they cant forgive him for that.
