Popular Yoruba actor/producer beaten to a pulp, hospitalised

Popular Yoruba actor, producer and director, Ibrahim Chatta, was over the weekend beaten to a pulp at the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos, by film pirates, who were selling copies of the producer's films.

The top producer had been on his way to an event when he was spotted by the pirates who thought he was coming to get them arrested...again. A few of them had been arrested some weeks back.

Chatta lost consciousness during the assault and was fortunately rescued from near death by mobile policemen who were around the area at the time. He's currently receiving treatment at the hospital. No arrest has so far been made.

  21. This is just soooo sad on all fronts. First of all this man had every right to get pirates arrested but I'm sure he was not the one who called the cops. Maybe one of his co-producers was the one who called but he ended up getting beat up. Secondly he was frigging going about his business. I feel so bad for him. When some people start suffering in the future or their children or family members never make headway in life, they wonder why and say one non existent enemy is doing them when they use their own hands to design their doomed future. You are a theif and you have the guts to attack someone who used his money and sweat to make an honest living... May they all get the punishment they derserve from our Lord God.

  23. While i wish him speedy /quick recovery , i want to use this situation to challenge the Nollywood to wake up and fight this mess , Nigeria Police and SSS are accomplice in the piracy bussiness , one can not rely on them to arrest and bring these people to book , so let Nollywood raise a task force team to backed up by state assembley resolution to get these broad day light robbers.

  24. Eh yaaa! This one is real badluck and big time embarrassment. This i guess will make the authorities intensify efforts to clamp down on pirates.
I don't know him sha ooo cos i hardly watch Nigerian movies talkless of Yoruba films. All the same, Get Well Soon.

  25. Just on Sunday, Rev. Sam Adeyemi was preaching about piracy and how it damages our environment How can you beat up a producer after robbing him of his intellectual property?? Nigeria is a failed nation o and it is going from bad to worse. Corruption and Injustice everywhere with no plans to curb it. You can't even try piracy abroad, you would spend the rest of your life serving jail terms. I weep blood for my nation
