Bola Tinubu's week-long birthday celebration to cost N1 billion?

I heard N200 milllion, but Sahara Reporters is reporting N1 billion for his week-long, abi month-long birthday celebration.

From Sahara Reporters:
Former governor of Lagos, Bola Tinubu had another leg of his  60th birthday celebration at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos yesterday. As SaharaReporters earlier reported, the former governor's month-long event is costing Lagosians and several Action congress states N1 billion with local government areas forced to cough out N10 million each. The government of Lagos state puts in N150 million. Governors of Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Osun, Oyo and Edo states all made N50 million donation each.
The rest of the money was donated by lawmakers and other politicians and contractors who benefit from the largesse dolled out during the former governor's reign in Lagos and beyond.

  2. First of all, I recognise that Tinubu has done a lot for democracy and Lagos in particular. BUT this is soooooo excessive! On many levels this offends me, governors and chairmen were forced to contribute? and we blame them for looting??? All the contractors who have contributed will be rewarded in one way or the other. It's corruption galore... Maybe am only complaining cos I didn't get the contract to supply anything even just toothpicks for the event, lol

  11. Political parties in Nigeria are more of social clubs with no idealogies to better the lots of ordinary man. If it were the ruling party now everyone will be raining fire and brimestone, they are all the same just that opportunity makes the thief, a bigger one in this case.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO FIGHT BACK???
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET UP AND DEMAND OUR FAIR SHARE?
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO QUIT TALKING THE TALK AND START ACTING THE TALK?

Linda did I read you right?1 billion???As in 100 million million?Blood of Jesus.
I went to Sahara reporters to read the story also.I am a lot shocked at Fashola.I always assumed he was above buts!

He is celebrating his 60th birthday with whose money?THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY CONDEMNABLE.In a country where hunger and poverty scream on a daily basis this is so unfair. It's the added insult of telling the populace to go to hell;we are in power and you can kiss our a****s!!!

I thought Fashola was talking the otther day about the heat wave wahala.Did it not occur to this lawyer that such money being flagrantly dispensed to celebrate Tinubu's birthday could go a long way to alleviate the suffferings of the people he leads???

Only in my country is a political position an avenue to steal.Only in my country are political leaders not held accountable for their astronomical pilfering.Only in my country is a former governor able to use the citizen's money to celebrate his personal affairs.

    SHAME ON YOU TINUBU
    SHAME ON YOU FASHOLA
SHAME ON YOU OTHERS THAT ARE CONTRIBUTING TO THIS FILCHING

YOU ARE ALL COMMON THIEVES. POOOOOOOOOOO.I spit on you all

I hate, infact i loathe nigerian politicians, they are all corrupt. this negro is not even in office and he is still chopping up to 1billion. thieves, and God will punish each and every one of them. He should donate the money to an orphange instead, mtcheww ooohm, i swear this makes me wish i was ghanian, at least ill have electricity and okay government.

  24. I am, the no Sender.

You can imagine a news story like this. Don't you just feel like getting Boko Haram to drop a bomb in their midst? What is so annoying is that this is the same ACN that will run their mouth riot if this was a PDP event. Tomorrow someone will speak of how wonderful Fashola has been performing abi? This is hypocrisy at it's worst. Imagine the height of deceit. It's just so nauseating to even mention the amount being spent on this callous wastage and for whom? Bola Armed Bandit Tinubu. Every now and then you read of a Nigerian seeking help over one ailment or the other asking for relative meagre amounts for a surgical operation or the other and yet no help. God will visit his terror on these people one day.

Hmmnnnn..... At the end of the day there is a day of reckoning especially when you havr pulled your ropes long enough and start to spend silly that it is so freaking obvious you are nothing but a glorified thief as in this case....... Ibori eventually got his who would have thought the way he was carrying on and with yar'adua solidly behind his back guy even had the audacity of thinking of becoming president in 2015 but see how God komot chair for hin yansh...... We'd all be here.... It might take a while but justice would be served and it becomes even surer when all caution is thrown to the wind and CAN prides itself as a better alternative to PDP buncha hypocrites nd fools thinking we are non the wise

  46. Sometimes, I see Tinubu as a cancer that won't let Fashola do his best! He spent 8 years, and failed woefully. Now his part has a few states and he thinks he is now a saint. His judgement will come one day!

pls do not blame linda , if you are here in lagos , there are billboards all over the place celebrating the useless moroon , take a drive to bourdillon and see waste na wetin sef , and the useless people dat are rushing for food and gifts , would not realise that is their money they are using to feed dem .
he has converted the whole of lagos , as his personal property and they will go to mosque oooh , wonder what the imams are telling them ---- may they all rot in hell .

  52. Whether it's 200million or 1 billion, it's no surprise anymore that the rich in nigeria waste money like no one's business.

But, no worry, their day of punishment and judgement is closer than what we think, where they will all be exposed and go down.

  53. I don't believe a single line of this story. I still respect Tinubu for investing his wealth (stolen or earned) back in the country and giving employinment to jobless youths, Dis the Govt of 9ja can't and didn't do

  54. @mama somtee you sound extremely stupid and ignorant. You are one of the biggest problems naija has now and not even thieving politicians. No one in their right senses should ever support terrorism and their mode of operating or dealing with situation. It is disgusting you can even wish bombing on any human being. Na you and your generation to come they will bomb. Sahara reporters is filth. They report things now just to get traffic to their site. That aside, this is over board. Why spend this much money on one birthday? can this Tinubu man sincerely say he worked hard for all the money he is throwing into this party? your day of recokning will come o Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You will have to answer to the most High God why you stole for a living...

  55. It never ceases to amaze me how people jump to conclusions without any form of proof. Sahara Reporters claims the cost is 1 Billion. They have not supplied any form of proof for this, not even a rough break down of the constituent elements which make up the 1 Billion Naira. Secondly, Sahara Reporters has not supplied any form of proof that the Govs contributed N50 Million each.

It is possible that the Govs contributed this money but in the absence of proof, why should we believe it?

  56. This man with all his money looks too old for 60! Seriously, life expectancy should be discussed and taken more seriously in Nigeria. For instance, can anyone in this forum name just 5 Nigerians that they know who are over 80? How about 10 people over 70? The truth is many people die before these ages. We don't even get out into the abundance of sunshine that God gave us, all because of riches. Everyone now drives around with air conditioned cars with tinted glasses. They have no idea that they do not have Vit D which is essential in fighting many diseases like cancer. No wonder cancer is now so prevalent in Nigeria. Pls fellow Nigerians, let's talk more about health and fitness. Just my 2 cents!!!
