The Senate, yesterday queried the Presidency over N1.3 billion budgeted for food stuffs and refreshment, including the purchase of computers and furniture, describing it as outrageous.
Out of N1.3billion, N293 million was set aside for refreshment, N500 million for food stuffs, N265 million for computers and N295 million for furniture for no specific office.
Clap for them...then continue reading...
A member of the committee, Senator Isa Galadu, said, “the huge allocation for foodstuffs in a country where 70 per cent lives below a dollar per day and 90 per cent below two dollars per day is outright outrageous. I do not understand why you have allocated N293 million for refreshment, apart from the foodstuffs allocation.”
The chairman of the committee, Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta also asked why the State House planned to spend N295 million on furniture for an unspecified residence.
“The purchase of residential furniture for N295 million, is it for the residence of Mr President? You also have N265 million for computers. You bought computers last year. Do you still want to buy computers this year again?” he queried.
In his response to all the queries, the permanent secretary, State House, Dr. Funmi Olaopa said that the State House is a huge bureaucracy on its own and it is a meeting point for a huge array of critical stakeholders, both local and international.
“There are lots of standing committees, visiting presidents, diplomats, people from the Diaspora, captains of industries and a lot of banquets are held and these are service- based. Moreso, we now run democracy unlike the military. Now, we necessarily have to expand in order to run an inclusive government."
Oh yeah??? What a joke!
U go fear fear.
ReplyDeleteDo these people think we are fools or what?????They are stealing money left and right ....even the so called senate..with all the useless allowances they received for doing absolutely nothing...I am tired.
ReplyDeletemtchweeeeeessss, next please......
ReplyDelete"Senator Isa Galadu, said, -the huge allocation for foodstuffs in a country where 70 per cent lives below a dollar per day and 90 per cent below two dollars per day is outright outrageous"
ReplyDeleteSo the senate people know this and they are there collecting armed robber salary. Your own day of reckoning is coming mtcheeewww
A serious government will do all that it takes to convey to its citizens that it is committed to transparent and fair governance devoid of self enrichment and aggrandizement. The GEJ administration are yet to convince us they really mean well. There should be cuts and serious one at that to that gruesome and nauseating belly aching and toilet inducing budget.
ReplyDeleteHaving blown all that oyibo, but seriously LIB, you no try at all. Why you no just hate this GEJ people. You no dey waste time report something wey no good about him and hia people but you no go report the good one. Say the truth you never see the news since yesterday reporting GEJ's reasons for refusing AU presidency? Haba! Lindaaaaa! Its not used to be good what you are do o. God is watching you o!
Ride on o jare, Sisi Linda- someone has to expose this govt for what they are....a bunch of greedy and unfeeling people..nonsense!
ReplyDeleteMy main problem is dt, dey said dey are paying rents on president and vice president house in aso rock..abeg, to who are dey paying it to?...we need to find out..is a very serious Case.
ReplyDeleteWith the Gucci beans, LV rice, YSL ponmo, Burberry Owo Soup, Guess tomato, Baby Phat chicken, Jimmy Choo Cow/Beef , Tommy Hilfiger Okra, \Just name it, by the time you add all together, we go reach that amount, plus the Elephant dem go dey kill everyday. Mshewwwwww
ReplyDeleteI agree with the secretary. What I dnt understand is why d senate with their overbloated allowances will be talking. And some nigerians will fall for it. Imagine a whole state house with the amount is spends yearly on hosting etc. But folks will quickly agree thinking d money is meant for GEJ's personal kitchen. Because of d hatred they have for him. Objectivity
ReplyDeleteIf the senators are really being sincere then they should take the bull by the horn by slashing their own salaries and allowances first. That way every Nigerian will support their course.
ReplyDeleteThey should all fucking shut up...na dem chop pass kmt...senators are the most greedy people in naija...querying who?...buhahaha....i laff in igbo.
ReplyDeletena GOD go judge una oh. . . Greedy president and followers. . . And some STUPID nigerians where supporting d removal of subsidy!. . . Where is''okonjo wahala''in all of dis???
ReplyDeleteThis is the case of a pot calling kettle black uh?, who's the senate trying to please, playing to the galary I guess. All them functional and legal illeterates in the senate are pointing fingers at the presidency. At the least the president is accountable for the day to day running of the country and is being harrassed for mal or misfeasons. But the senate?, they dont even showe up for plenary, get paid about EIGHTY MILLION NAIRA a year for what? bunch of cow herders, traders, fishermen, farmers, thugs and the rest 419ers. they do not have any moral authority to seat and judge the executive arm whereas they're a bunch of no-do-gooders themselves. always AWOL running the streets of abuja looking for girls and feeling good about themselves. to the task at issue, the presidency is nuts, the king of spain has about $640,000.00 a year for his imperial duties which is 80% entertainment and Jonathan is using the GDP of a country for food and entertainment? It's really a shame and misplaced priorities for our leaders. very disappointed cos GEJ is a Phd holder for God's sake and should know better than that. I guess he grew up poor and lacking and he wants to make up for it now with his fat-ass-illeterate wife called patience. what a name, sounds like a name for the profession that I do not want to mention here.
ReplyDelete*singing* everytime...they want to use as like a roll on...see as them dey gba control
ReplyDeleteGEJ is eats Gucci rice and versace beans....lol...
ReplyDeletei love this i could work out in a dog eat dog way and the executive will also fight the legislatures budget then they both get slashed. oh what am i saying in naija they will both back off each other and return to business as usual. our sad reality
ReplyDeleteIm nt surprisd cos damn patience needs millions 2fil her belly whch is a bottomles pit,nd joboy her bandhus nids surgery 4 hs ugly face.
ReplyDeleteAnon 04:23 AM don finish me with oyinbo o
ReplyDeleteBasically every year they buy computers and furniture. So what happens to the old ones? N265m (i.e. about £1m) gets you at least 1000 Apple MacPros.
ReplyDeleteLinda se u no knw sey na gucci rice πϑ vera wang beans ur president dey chop nii,he cum dey drink jimmy choo water on top.awon ole oshi.dia days are numbered.
ReplyDeleteThis is why Nigeria can never process. The greed amongst 'leaders' in Nigeria is just too much.
ReplyDeleteWhite house get farm, GEJ dey import food....nonsense
ReplyDeleteREally tho how many computers do they want to buy?
All I see is bunch of greedy pple .... Rubbish
ReplyDeleteSuffice to say the claims made by Dr GEJ about cutting costs is just talk.and true to form,we nigerians have gone back to the norms of accepting all the crap that is thrown at us.it takes them forever to listen to and resolve the medical and asuu strikes but takes them no time at all to dip into our funds.as long as all we continue to do is talk then we should be ready to continue to live from hand to mouth.
ReplyDeleteWhat a waste!!!
ReplyDeleteanything to keep Patience's big gob shut!!...
ReplyDeleteOk I now understand!when people come to visit, them go dash dem computer as souvenire!!
ReplyDeleteEvery year, Nigeria's budget it's like starting a new govt from the scratch!
ReplyDeleteThey just recycle the same amount of money all over again...maybe the Govt buy brand new computers and furniture every year!!!
Computers we no see...furniture we no see...food we nor chop...all of our money is being wasted and corruptly enriching Badluck Jonathan & his wife bank accounts!!
ONLY IN NIGERIA!!!!
What foolish things are d senator doing. They focusd on somebody else stick in his eyes 4gtng d lump in there own eyes. Bastard. The secretary is right. State house is like a ceremony ground and they eat the best. For those criticizng GEJ on this, do u think it is eba and okro dey eat at state house.
ReplyDelete...And una say Nigeria go better? Never, God cannot be mocked, God will punish evil doers and never reward them. How can people be so callous and wayward? There are people who cannot eat 3 sqyure meals a day in that country and president wan spend that much on food? na gucci rice and prada kpomon? even so, which computer them wan buy for that price? the one steve jobs design for heaven abe bill gates never design? fire will be on you govt guys till all repent of your evil ways!
ReplyDeleteAso rock will soon collaps
ReplyDeleteGreat,We suffer or make sacrifices cos government wants to save 1.3trillon on subsidy then they turn back and budget 1.3billion on food and refreshment,Are they feeding the whole country?
ReplyDeleteLol ... Even if it is macbook pro dey want to buy sef for the whole of abuja and lagos state! Sheer greed!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!!!!!! Linda, no need to shout because God will soon start punishing them. They will be so devastated. Keep fooling yourselves National Assembly members and like likes drinking water made from Gold and diamonds while innocent people suffer. GEJ and the rest, you are such big FOOLS AND THIEVES.
ReplyDeleteSomeone should plz put a bullet into GEj's head for once..
ReplyDeleteI feel GEJ would want to cut cost, only that if he does it, he will "spoil show" for the future presidents and he can be killed for doing that. But its really outrageous, even if the food is made out of gold, its still too much. Our money circulates within them up there while we down here are forgotten. Its well.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is evry politician in Nigeria is selfish. dey do evryfin for deir selfish reasons.dey r all d same I swear. its really so sad
ReplyDeleteAnd GEJ said that we should 'suffer a little' when the petrol price increment has freed up more funds for them to embezzle. The 25% cut in their salaries 'na wash'.It is these allowances that they ought to slash down by 90%.Bunch of thieves!!
ReplyDeleteFor once they are quarrying the budget for the president's refreshment. LEts commend them
ReplyDeleteAbeg ask him.
ReplyDeleteAnd we continue to write and curse and say only God can punish them when we should have maintained the occupy nigeria pressure even if not physically but thru persistent media and online campaigns.we are a bunch of spineless people and i wish us luck.hopefully there will be something left for our kids if we havent spent everything on trying to survive.i am so mad at "US"as in we nigerians
ReplyDeleteYou are doing a great job here, keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI want to suggest that you reduce the number of post on your main page, as you can see, it makes your blog to load very slowly which will not be ok for web surfers.
