New pictures from The Breakfast Show on HiTV

Joy Isi Bewaji
The popular morning show has held the most interesting interviews and chit-chat with great Nigerian acts like TufaceIdibia, 9ice, Iceprince, Oluchi Orlandi, DJ Caise, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, W4, David O, Kiki Kamanu, Sylvia Nduka (MBGN 2011), Faze, and a whole lot more. The show gets even more colourful as the year draws to end. More photos after the cut...

  1. I won’t even hate, Joy looks good. So so good! And that’s not even the best part of her; her brain is a magnet! The way she flows on that show. i find myself reading the papers these days just to show similar enthusiasm as she does on every single topic before her. Well done, hitv.

  2. Phew! Finally pictures that show some sweet side of the presenter. I no go lie, when I saw those Bellanaija pictures, it reminded me of what someone said that maybe some hitv people along with bella wanted to mock the show by displaying the worst side of the presenters. And it made sense to me, becos if u can get pictures that look this good then why would u encourage a photographer to take pictures that bad like the ones they put up on bella? see fine gal!

  3. Sweet smile Joy. I like the questions you always ask on the show. so different from the typical ‘beauty pageant dumb’ questions we are used to hearing on Nigerian TV. I looooooved Iceprince session. and also DJ Caise. When Joy asked ‘where can we find you Friday night?’ trying to say what do you do Friday nights? My elder sister who was watching the show with me just shook her head and said, ‘dis girl too get sense’. Lol!

  4. Whoever thought of a writer anchoring a breakfast show must have been inspired by the gods. When you think of it, writers are the smartest, most intelligent people around. They observe and the can express themselves really well. It makes a lot of sense. and that move to get a pretty writer to co-anchor is what is saving the show at the moment. Or else it’ll just be another tiring morning show with no egde.

  5. This whole week that past , i think Joy’s styling has imporved. Her moments on the show are always so good. She can ask questions that are not the regular, ‘so what have you been up to’ cliché. I’m a huge fan already. Oh and by the way, shall we hang the photographer who took the bellanaija pictures by the balls I i am very sure he is male. Hiss!

  6. I met Joy at the galleria bookstore. It was my boyfriend that actually recognised her. I bought Jude Dibia’s book and asked her for her autograph. She said she’d get Jude Dibia to sign on his book instead, so she signed on my academic text book, wishing me all the best on my upcoming exams.I can’t remember having that much of a blast with a celebrity. She was so down to earth, I think my boyfriend was drooling too much so I dragged him away. Lol! And she’s a lot prettier than all the pictures i’ve seen of her...with a nice figure.

  7. Well, i think this is a platform to criticise the show, so here goes: fridays have improved drastically. Everyone is doing well on the show. Friday madam needs to relax, its always as if she wants to jump out of the chair. And she makes me aware of the fact that she’s reading from a script. Joy is on point. She is the soul of the show. i’m in love with her. And wana too – edgy, smart women.

  8. I think the whole world would agree that Joy is good and really beautiful. Eh, but the show is beyond just one person. The couch is slouching and you can tell they are uncomfortable. The guests are always sinking, and mofe is generally restless. Its the couch i’m sure.

  9. Wow! The second picture is just...wow! so pretty!

  10. Joy shines on the show so bright. After years of watching very bad morning show hosts, here comes one that just gets it right. They have their flaws, but the edginess of what they bring on that couch covers up for many things. I’m a huge fan.

  11. I want to be believe that Joy is this good because she has spent most of her time as an editor of lifestyle magazines that she knows how to structure sentences and questions and get the guests to answer the kind of questions they never get asked anywhere. She does it best.

  12. abeg anybody watch that most beautiful girl episode. Jesus is lord! I have zero respect for silverbird. that girl is a dullard (and that's just putting it mildly). to mke it worse, they now sandwiched her between two brainy women - Joy and one guest. she is a horrible representation of this country. fear catch me when she start to talk. this is 2011, we shouldn't be having beauty queens this shallow. its unacceptable.

  13. the chemistry between those two na helele. I like the fact that Joy respects mofe's relationship, as she always refers to his fiaance with a lot of respect. but the two of them really have an understanding on air. u can tell they have a good friendship outside the show. loving it more and more each day.

  14. i think there's still alot that should be done with scripting. it has to be richer. but I am rooting for this show. with the pace it is going it'll change the whole idea of morning shows. beautiful pictures of Joy. she looks really content and fine.

  15. what I'm happy about is the fact that she hasn't been hopping from one red carpet to another. me and a friend took a bet that in a space of two weeks, she'll be everywhere but am happy that she is sticking to the business of giving us a quality show. i think its good to have TV celebs grace the red carpet, but not at the pace someone like Eku Edewor does. It shallows your worth and when do alot of red-carpet strutting, do u really have the time to expand ur intellect when you worry personally about what to wear all the time?

  16. well done guys. this last week was a great week. i watched every single show. Joy, hmmmm! you are too much! mofe too is trying. Hitv it seems, will bring out the brightest stars on TV. It sure looks that way. but please let me advise that you dont lose that intelligence. don't get caught up in celebrity lifestyle and forget that ur brain is what is putting you above everyone else on TV right now. you can just be the oprah of nigeria, have you thought about that?

  17. my own happiness is that they gave Joy a huge platform and she's living up to it. Hitv must be very proud!

  21. Wow , I have never seen such positive comments about a show by a group of people on linda's blog. It is unbelievable. I caught the show for the first time on HITV international last week and I enjoyed it. I was on leave from work and scanning through cable T.V. They both look good!

  22. nawa for my pipul o... just reading through the first couple of comments here (like first 10 or so, minus Kay's comment), it doesn't take much to realise that it is the same person. probably hired by HiTV to come do PR ontop Linda Ikeji Blog. abeg mek una take am sofri sofri, ehn? :D

  23. Why must we compare people. there is room in the sky for everyone to excel in what they have chosen or been hired to do. Do you realize that perhaps Eku was hired also to be a constant on the red carpet and because she was already a socialite? Eku was a red carpet/sunday glossy regular before Studio 53. Odd as it may sound, TV execs look for so many things regular folks just don't understand. That's why it is called SHOW BUSINESS and something called marketing and it has worked. Eku was only a model fresh out of school before she got the opportunity to be a TV presenter (who all of a sudden u r expecting to be an encyclopedia over night). She might not be the best but she is the most popular and with brand potential (if she herself keys into it). Joy on the other hand is ( fill in the gap with her CV). Apples and Oranges. So Abeg Chill and celebrate what is positive about people on their path to success and ENCOURAGE with constructive criticism rather than negatively criticize and lend to their downfall or them doubting themselves or start negatively competing/beefing with their counterparts (something nigerians tend to relish in doing).

na wa! so you have turned linda's blog to haters.com, abi? if the comments are positive then it must be from a source and if they are negative then it is acceptable. na wa o!
anyway, i like the show. not becos it is the best thing on tv but you'd need to appreciate where hitv is coming from after their big fall. it is entertaining and refreshing; and actually alot better than must others in this clime.
as i don add my voice, e go be sey dem hitv don pay me, abi?
    smh!

you need to take a chill pill before you choke on your own hate. haba! if really hitv paid for this dem go leave your nasty comment here? they for don tell linda to yank off your bad-belle yarn. you better stop hating with so much passion or else your growth will be stunted. na wa!
you seem to forget that joy is an author. she has a book (eko dialogue), i dont know why d lady wanted an autograoh but when i bought the book I pursue Joy reach one of her writing gatherings to get an autograph, so what is wrong with that?
abeg una dey tire me too much for this site. hating unecessarily. tonto get tattoo - una go hate. eucharia take picture - una go hate. what have you guys accomplished on your own?

as for me i like the show. i am not crazy about it and can live without it. but still it is a good show and everytime i catch it i enjoy it. shikena!

  27. people can go on about nothing. they have new pictures from the show: are the pictures nice? Yes (at least better than the ones on bella). is the show ok? Yes! do these people give a damn about the nasty comments here? No.
is hitv going to resurrect? time will tell!
in the mean time stop taking panadol becos you cannot contain your hate. and trust me if na me be hitv and i pay one kobo to linda i go tell am to freeze all this i-hate-my-life-so-i-hate-yours-too comments. people wey never achieve anything go dey talk under anonymous. bad belle twits!

  28. @ kevin

i sorry for you! sunday morning and you have all this rubbish in your stomach. what a way to start a new week.
for your info, people get autographs from anyone they admire. is it for you to decide who anyone should admire enough to request an autograph? wetin dey autograoh sef, no be to write something nice for paper. As i hear Joy has a book, she has edited lifestyle magazine, and she is now on TV, is it so hard for your head to understand that there may be people who admire her and would like her autograph?
I just dey talk becos 'hate' they purge belle. you go soon die with the rate you are going.

  29. nice pictures. good show. what are people going on about here. If it hurts you so bad that some people are getting a head way in life, then its simple - there are three ways out: 1) go on your knees and ask for a breakthrough, 2) go and hug a tranfsormer; 3) take a bullet and shoot everyone out there trying to be a better person so you dont always have to look at them and hate your own life. if all of the above still doesn't cut it - go to hell!
God will not allow me start a new week with all this bad belle on top of nothing.

  31. I grieve for Nigeria. Such a rubbish show, yet everybody is praising it like it's Second Coming. Are Nigerians so used to low standards that such hogwash is now acceptable? Jeez.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It could do wih some improvement. but I like the idea of a relaxing breakfast show. what annoys me the most is how people just condemn things even they cannot achieve. baby steps, they will get there. and if they dont, they'll always be someone else to try something new. and it would never be any of the bitter and depessed anonymouses down here.

  33. do people still watch hitv?

  34. I haven't watched the show so I can't say much, but as a stylist a lil advice for Joy: try side fringes and partings for your hair; your forehead looks like I can sit on it; also get some professional colour draping done so you'll know what colours suit you and what colours to stay away from + The pictures look to me like they are trying too hard abeg...
