In a memo obtained by SaharReporters, the church service alone, which will take place next Saturday, will swallow over N62 million( $403,000). The memo is signed by the Minister of Aviation, Fidelia Njeze, in her role as the chairman of the Church Service sub-committee of the 2011 Presidential Inauguration Committee.
Wearing that cap, Mrs. Njeze will oversee the church service on Saturday May 28, at the Christian center in Abuja for a couple of hours. The Presidential Inauguration Committee is listed under the office of the Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF).
Presidency sources told SaharaReporters that apart from the series of committees set up by the Office of the SGF, the president's office and that of the First Lady also have their different budgetary expenses for the event.
In the church committee activity, Mrs. Njeze proposes to provide a public address system for N35 million. She will also refurbish the Christian Center's 24 air-conditioning system for N8 million; provide multimedia projectors and screens for another N8 million, and pay as well as pay officiating ministers N2.5 million.

Jonathan and his allies has to recoup Jonathan's campaign expenses. This is just the beginning of the embezzlement adventure. More to come, stay tuned.
ReplyDeleteWhat do figure other countries spend? THAT IS NOT MUCH IN THE REALM OF THINGS. Getting the right security details down in enough to eat that up.
ReplyDeleteAnon 6:42, I hear what you are saying but other countries have stable infrastructure. When our infrastructure and salaries are a bit stable then we can spend $5 billion on a swearing in ceremony.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me but I thought it was well known that Saharareporters lack credible journalists. As if we would ever know how much they are actually going to spend. Even the US releases estimates.
ReplyDeleteBut on the real, it is silly to ever use sahara reporters as your source.
In all honesty, I have been meaning to say this and I might get attacked but here is goes. Linda based on all the corruption stories you post about going on in Nigeria. You seem to be passionate but you don't seem to be very active in making a difference.
ReplyDeleteThe bloggers that post as much about this stuff as you do are organizing debates, they are raising money. You have this medium yet you don't seem to be really taking advantage of it.
It is your blog to do whatever but I just wanted to state my opinion.
Linda, i am disappointed that you'd take a story from a crap publisher like sahara reporters! Those people and their smear tactics. Believe nothing you read from a paper that begs for donations from it's readers as they are very obviously compromising their integrity.Until you get this from a more authentic source ......
ReplyDeleteNIGERIANS, NIGERIANS, GREED, WICKEDNESS, STUPIDITY, FOOLISHNESS, MONEY HUNGRY, SELFISHNESS, IS WHAT WILL KILL ALL OF YOU.
ReplyDeleteIF YOU CAN SPEND ALL THAT ON INAUGURATION, I WANT TO SEE HOW MUCH WILL BE SPENT ON INFRASTRATURE, HEALTH CARE SYSTEM, SCHOOL, SECURITY, ETC. I WANT TO KNOW WHERE ALL THE OIL MONEY GOES? IF YOU CAN NOT PRODUCE THAT, THEN NIGERIA IS OFFICIALLY A FAILED COUNTRY.
i really dont read stuffs from SR but I have gone to read this cos a friend on FB ... and my first observation is ... is that the National Letter head paper? ... what was covered by the black spot? ...
ReplyDelete2. Its a request for support letter, who was it addressed to?
3. The first item on the letter is listed as No: 2? was this letter edited? what happened to no 1 item? ... a line on the item 2 paragraph 1 reads: As part of the actvities slated for the event, a thanksgiving CHURCH for the Mr. President elect will HOLD at the .... this doesn't sound like a grammatic error Mrs Fidelis can make
Point 3: Item V on the list was repeated 2ice and the total was hand written ...
Item 4 on the list is Thank you ... laughable.
My Conclusion ... another fake story to distract people from real stuffs and make Nigerian hate leadership.

what is new with your people in Nigeria?
ReplyDeleteMilitary or Civilian.. all the same!
Any opportunity to rob the average Joe of taxpayer's money na..
This is the begining of squandering of public funds.Nigerians who voted for Jonathan voted for business as usual.Wait for the list of ministers and all of you will realise you bargained the future of the children away the day you voted for Jonathan unless a miracle happens!
ReplyDeleteHere's a thought, if the Nigerian government can afford to spend that amount of money on a ceremony, why don't we have our own refinery in the country? It's the height of shame for a crude oil producing country to import fuel and have fuel scarcity on top of it. Highly embarrassing!
ReplyDeleteI like Sahara Reporters! This is obviously a White Elephant Project!!
ReplyDeleteBut sahara reporters are realiable; or have they changed?
ReplyDeleteNigerians have not seen anything yet. However, let us be aware that jonathan is not the change we are looking for,for bankole to be projected as a minister is a sure indication that we are heading towards a failed state. What next patience as a minister? sahara reporter keep the pressure .
