April 27th marked the day Nollywood's big bold and beautiful Adaora Ukoh added one year and as such celebrated her birthday with the handicapped and less privileged kids. She was joined by colleague and friend Queen Nwokoye, close friends and family, where they cut a cake with these kids and gave out enough alms ranging from all sorts of food items, soaps, bags of rice and beans, provisions, toiletries, clothes, shoes, huggies for the kids and cash inclusive.
Matthew 6:1-4 "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
ReplyDeleteThus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."
And a lot of Nigerians are fond of this...even the churches too..
Thank you IB, I noticed these nigeria celebrities like to show off when they are giving charity. And it seems like everyone is doing the same thing, and showing it off.....SMH
ReplyDeleteOmotola
Julius Agwu
Rukky sanda and crew
now this one.....WTH, too bad they got their rewards already...
ah yes, celebs and charity - we always see them being "great" and "celebrating with the needy" - that's all good, but how about they do it quietly for a change?
ReplyDeleteIB what's wrong with what she did?Or is it because she is an actress?I know colleagues and friends who have done this and i am rather touched. How do u know what's on her mind?
ReplyDeleteThe bible also says 'Do not judge and thou shall not be judged'. So stop being so negative about things.
you guys nailed it..why are u even calling them celebrities...what have they done to bebecome celebrities?? bcos thay have acted in low budget mediocre fly-by-night home dvd camera shot videos..this is increasingly becoming ludicrous!!!...true philanthropy does not require the whole world coming to watch you give out anything to anyone..i am tired of these cheap popularity low end ppl desperately seeking attention at all cost by hook or by crook...why are they so needy and desperate???? tacky beyond tacky
ReplyDeletesomeone clearly missed the point. this is why i admire genny for not taking any pictures, because then, people will accuse her of doing it for attention. i even laughed when people were castigating her for NOT taking pictures. hehehehe. but these people all do charity on their birthday while taking a million photos. i think terry g started the trend (or maybe someone before him) then julius, adaora, ini edo. Nollywood and COPY COPY syndrome, haba! what she did is a good thing, but you don't have to scream to the world about the good you're doing.
ReplyDeleteive always loved this lady, happy bday hun!!
ReplyDeleteThats the problem with Nigeria. Anybody who wants his or face in the media will buy 2 packs of omo, one carton of lux and 3 packets of cabin biscuit and dress the environment with needy children and toilet tissues and people will be clapping for them.Whatever happened to giving those things without taking pictures and contacting the media.-Gbenga
ReplyDeleteExcuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me guys please celebrities are not you obviously so charity are to be talked about and be used as a medium to encourage others to give. thats why we have NGO's,UN,all forms of charity organization that celebrates the less privilegded. The pics are for keeps and sure means celebs are giving back to the society.
ReplyDeleteits her birthday and she decides to celebrate with the handicapped and take pictures and as a celeb the pics are in the press. so you are hypocrites zip up your holes pleaaaaaase.
Adaora and Queen keep up the good work and please dont relent guys and dont forget to take more pics and upload.
To anonymous 7.26 and Didi, the recognition and praise you have given them for giving indomie and soap is their reward.
ReplyDeleteBut for anybody who wants the reward of God the father, the one whose pavement is paved with Gold, who sees the heart of men, obedience is better than sacrifice. no Long thing.
Nigerians like to make noise! An NGO personnel once complained that Nigerians would give out 900K, but spend one million to publicize it! Said they are used to it but don't like it but they need the money, so accept to play along.
ReplyDeleteA man was in his jeep driving along Broad street in Lagos Island and was held up in the junction near C.M.S bookshop when the Area boys came hailing him saying BABA OO! BABA OO! The guy wind down and told them to go and bring Television and newspaper people before he would give them any money,so that the world can see how philanthropic he is, he hissed, wind up and drove away as the hold-up reduced. People around were laughing, but it made me realize how vain Nigerians are.
I totally agree with you 1B & anonoymous 9:11 pm
World people preach on.
ReplyDeletethis aint no pulpit so save your preaching for that day when you'd be in church to teach 'giving'.
make una free the babe booo... its her birthday and she choose to go merry with d handicapped pictures are always allowed please. whether na soap oo, or na indomie oo, or even kpekere, the most important thing is the motive behind it. maybe una world people will be happy if she is in the club popping champagne and uploading the pics.(mtsheeeew)
