Yoruba Heritage Awards will take place in London on Friday, September 10. It will be hosted by top-rated artistes from Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Glo Splashes Millions On Ambassadors. The Exact Amount Each Got And Why D’Banj, Sunny Neji, Pasuma Are Yet to Receive Offer

Telecommunication giant, Globacom unveiled its new ambassadors few days back in Lagos amidst pomp and pageantry. The contracts of existing ambassadors were also renewed and the company introduced rave group artistes, P-Square as its newest ambassadors.

After (a very reliable source) made series of investigations and inquiries on the new deal, this is the amount each ambassador is to be paid for the next two years.

P-Square - N35 Million for two years and a branded Land Cruiser Jeep which will soon be delivered to them
Basketmouth - N30 Million for two years
Sammie Okposo - N25 million for two years
Ego Ogbaro - N15million for two years
Ramsey Noah, Kate Henshaw and Chioma Chukwuka-Akpota were signed for N30 million for two years. Other Nollywood stars were signed for N20 Million for two years or below.

MITV Sportscaster Adeolu Olanihun dies at 41

Adeolu Olanihun, popularly called Tango, the presenter of the programme, Sports Tango, on MITV Lagos, has died

He died on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the age of 41. He's survived by a wife and three kids.
May his soul rest in peace...amen!

A 23-year-old woman, who gave her identity as Pelumi Ogunbadejo, has abandoned her newly delivered baby at a private hospital in Abeokuta, Ogun State and disappeared into thin air. She is said to have claimed to be resident of Akute, in Ifo Local Government area of the state while on admission.

Tiger Woods responds to Elin's Interview

Tiger Woods released a statement to the magazine which included it as an addendum to its exclusive interview with Elin.

The statement reads,

“This is a very painful, personal and private time for our family. Throughout this entire time, Elin has shown unwavering concern and support for our children. She is a wonderful mother. I know that the two of us will do everything we can to help our children adjust to this new family situation.

“We both cherish the time we can spend with Sam and Charlie. Whether it’s taking Sam to school or hitting balls with Charlie on the range, nothing gives me more enjoyment than these simple pleasures. We have two special kids, and I’m going to enjoy every minute with them.
“Personally, I am learning to balance family and golf. My children come first and always will, but I also appreciate golf more than ever. I understand how important the fans and the game are to me. "Olu Jacobs should not play Igwe roles" Pete Edochie

"The people who are making movies are children and most of them are unintelligent. The person who is playing the Igwe roles in all the movies these days is Olu Jacobs. He is not an Igbo man. I simply do not understand why somebody who does not speak the Igbo language, who does not understand the culture, the mind and the psychology of a people should be the one playing those roles. This is the reason why those roles are not being properly interpreted. Have you ever seen a woman beside a Northern Emir? But I watched a film where people had to help hold Olu Jacobs wife in the movie and he basically raped her because she refused to have sex with him and he was supposed to be the Igwe in the film. That is an absolute insult to the traditional stools of the Igbo people. If he knew better he would have advised the producers of such a movie or should never have even taken part in it at all." Drake's Letter To Aaliyah

Drake is a huge fan of Aaliyah as evidenced by TML‘s “Unforgettable” which samples her song “At Your Best”. On the ninth anniversary of Ms. Haughton’s passing, Drake wrote a letter in tribute to her. Aaliyah Dana Haughton died August 25, 2001

He writes:

Dear Dana,
I’ve never lost a parent, a friend, or a lover but I will never forget this day for the rest of my life. I remember getting the news that you had passed and it connected with my heart like a clean shot from Muhammad Ali. I was crushed. Not only was I one of your biggest fans but I was truly in love with you. I loved the way you carried yourself, the way you dressed, the confidence with which you addressed passion and relationships in your music. I said to myself that even if we never met, I wanted a woman in my life just like you. I am pained that we will never get to connect now that music ended up being my career path. Bag thief caught on family camera

A family, attending a wedding, posed for a  picture outside of the Wisconsin State Capitol building at the same moment that someone decided to walk off with one of the family's bags. When the family took a closer look at the photo their camera had snapped, they noticed that they had caught the robber in the act.

After seeing this photo, the police caught the thief, recovered everything and hauled the guy off to jail.
So there you go ... a happy ending, on the other side of a Kodak moment. :-)

Edo Doctors Strike As Gunmen Kidnap Professor Of Medicine

A professor of Medicine at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Professor. A. N. Onunu was on Wednesday night, August 25, 2010, abducted by gunmen at his residence in the Evbomore area of Benin City, Edo State.

Following his kidnap, all medical doctors in UBTH have suspended their services until the professor is released unconditionally.

Miracle mum brings premature baby son back to life with two hours of loving cuddles after doctors pronounce him dead!

Awful moment: Kate and David clasp each other and their son Jamie, circled, after being told he did not survive the birth. They were given the child to say their goodbyes but then, miraculously, two hours later he began to show signs of life

An Australian mother has told how her touch brought her 'dead' baby back to life.
Doctors gave tiny Jamie Ogg no chance of survival when he was born prematurely at 27 weeks weighing just 2lb.

His twin sister Emily had survived but after battling for 20 minutes to get him to breathe Jamie was declared dead.
He was then handed to his mother Kate so she and her partner David could grieve and say their goodbyes.

2011: Jonathan tears Nollywood apart

As the 2011 general elections draw nearer, the decision of some Nollywood stars to collect N300, 000 each before campaigning for President Goodluck Jonathan's ambition has torn the Nigerian movie industry apart. Some of the movie stars have formed a group christened Nollywood Stars for Jonathan, and their aim is to shoot a commercial geared towards campaigning for the President to remain in office for the next four years with the fee of N300, 000 for each of the stars involved in it. But the move seems to have torn the Nollywood stars apart as other popular actors have declined to be part of it.

Introducing: Hollywood actor Gbenga Akinnagbe

Gbenga Akinnagbe is a 32 year old Nigerian born American actor, best known for his role as Chris Partlow on the HBO original series The wire. He recently starred as Lorenzo, a neighborhood thug in Ice Cube’s new movie, ‘Lottery Ticket’. He's a cousin to rapper Wale

And he's very much single. He stated that clearly in a Bossip interview recently (Bossip interview? :-))

Bossip: You are obviously educated and ambitious… how about single? Are you in a relationship or reaping the benefits of your big screen debut?
Gbenga: (Laughing) I’m single. I’ve been concentrating on work, so guess I fell into the cliche of being too busy [for a relationship.] I consider my work building an empire so I dedicate a lot of time to it, but if there’s a pretty woman in a room I’m going to notice. I’m not dead.

BBA4 winner, Kevin Chuwang Pam 'supposedly' engaged to ex-housemate Elizabeth Gupta

Last Saturday (21 Aug) while at the Ogus Baba Laugh Goes On comedy club in Port Harcourt, Big Brother Revolution winner, Kevin Chuwang Pam and his lady friend, and Revolution contestant Elizabeth Gupta got up on stage and performed a track together.

Nigeria’s biggest comedian, Ali Baba introduced the couple to the 2000 strong crowd. Once they’d finished performing “Una Pata Mambo” (Anything you want, right there you get it), Kevin went down on one knee and proposed to Elizabeth. He said he kept it simple and just asked: “Elizabeth, will you marry me?”.

The crowd started screaming: “say yes, say yes, say yes” and obviously she did. Kevin then says a woman broke free from the crowd, ran onto the stage and congratulated them both with a huge hug.

Husbands On The Way — Adefarasin Tells Church’s Spinsters

Senior Pastor of House On The Rock, Paul Adefarasin, yesterday prophesied that unmarried women in his church will meet their husbands soon. Adefarasin, who made the pronouncement at about 12 noon yesterday, told the church’s unmarried women that “by this time tomorrow (today), in the next 24 hours, you are going to meet the man that you are going to marry.”

Chilean miners found alive after being trapped for 18 days.

This TV grab shows part of the head of Florencio Antonio Avalos Silva, one of 33 trapped miners.

Rescue workers were today battling to reach 33 miners trapped underground for 18 days in a Chilean mine. Experts said it would take months to dig the men out after they managed to attach paper message to a probe sent 2, 300ft below the surface to find them.

The discovery of the miners yesterday sparked scenes of joy among relatives waiting at the surface since the August 5 accident at the small gold and copper works.
