Nelson Mandela's great grand daughter dies in car crash...

Zenani Mandela, 13, (pictured above with Madiba) one of the nine great grand children of Nelson Mandela was killed last night, June 11, 2010, in a car crash as she returned home from the World Cup concert near Johannesburg.

Nelson Mandela cancelled his appearance at the opening of the World Cup today because of her untimely death.
May her soul rest in peace, amen.

The naked ladies at the 2010 World cup

A common sight at the South Africa/FIFA 2010 World cup are naked South African babes cheering different teams (so far in the friendly matches).

The ladies have absolutely no problem showing off their bodies as they dance, but some people are finding the whole situation quite uncomfortable. Some coaches think it's a distraction for some of the players.

But many of the ladies who spoke to international journalists say whatever they do is ‘for the good of the game’ and an honour for their nation.

Dancing naked is part of their traditional Zulu Dance, right? But shouldn't they tone it down a bit? Billions of people will be watching the world cup; some people might find this display very offensive.
But then again, it's happening in South Africa, what better opportunity to promote their breastises culture?

Thoughts?

Marriage To 13-Year Old: Islamic Group Plans One-Million-Man March For Yerima

The Islamic group contended that Yerima’s marriage was strictly a private affair and that he should be left alone and warned the Senate to disband the panel it set up to probe the former governor over the issue. Director of the group, Alhaji Is-haq Akintola, who spoke in Lagos, Nigeria, yesterday, told newsmen that Yerima’s marriage was conducted in total conformity with the teachings of Islam.

The current stand of these groups is regarded by Nigerian muslims not as an attack on Yerima per se but as a vicious campaign against Islam and Nigerian Muslims. “We reject the Child Rights Act as it breaches the teachings of Islam and deprives Muslims of their Allah-given and fundamental rights. We demand the dissolution of the panels set up by both the Senate and the House of Representatives to probe Yerima’s marriage as this constitutes an attempt to probe the scripture of Islam,” he stated.***

Lead Poisoning kills 160 in Zamfara State

This is kinda stale but just for those who haven't heard this story, well here it is. More than 160 people have died from Lead poisoning over the last month in northern Zamfara state. The majority of the dead are children. The poisoning is the result of illegal gold mining.

Unregulated miners use lead to help leach gold from ground-up rock. The lead is then spread by dust from the open-pit mines and by women who process the ore in their compounds.  Some of the children poisoned are now blind, deaf, and unable to walk.

Rare photo of slave children found

A haunting 150-year-old photo found in a North Carolina attic shows a young black child named John, barefoot and wearing ragged clothes, perched on a barrel next to another unidentified young boy.

Art historians believe it's an extremely rare Civil War-era photograph of children who were either slaves at the time or recently emancipated.

In April, the photo was found at a moving sale in Charlotte, accompanied by a document detailing the sale of John for $1,150, not a small sum in 1854.

New York collector Keya Morgan said he paid $30,000 for the photo album including the photo of the young boys and several family pictures and $20,000 for the sale document. Morgan said the deceased owner of the home where the photo was found was thought to be a descendant of John.

What makes the picture an even more compelling find is that several art experts said it was created by the photography studio of Mathew Brady, a famous 19th-century photographer known for his portraits of historical figures such as President Abraham Lincoln.***

According to the Globe, actor Gary Coleman was murdered. But by who?
Well his ex-wife, Shannon Price, sold some photos of Gary on his death bed to The Globe for $10, 000. And in the disgusting picture, she's seen posing next to the dying legendary sitcom actor.

A top investigator has said that Gary was a victim of shocking foul play after examining blood splatter evidence found at the actor's Utah home after he was discovered lying on the kitchen floor with a gaping head wound.*
Well, someone is already benefiting from his death...so the investigators should start from there...

Parents unite against Aki and Paw Paw

Concerned parents in Nigeria have called on the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Association of Movie Producers (AMP) and other stake holders in the film industry, to call popular actors, Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme aka Aki and Pawpaw, to order.

The concerned parents want the actors to play consistent roles in movies. They either take the role of kids or that of adults. The parents said that since they started as kids in their first movie, a lot of kids at home see them as peers and as a result, imitate most of the things they do in movies. But now the actors take romantic roles and other adult roles that children shouldn't emulate, and the inconsistency is a threat to children who don't want to believe that they are adults. They even did sweet advertisements meant for children.

Sometime last year, the Actor's Guild of Nigeria Board of Trustees headed by Prince Ifeanyi Dike, made a move to ban the actors from taking adult roles, but they were later pardoned when their fans pleaded with the board.
