Photos: Many trapped as three-storey building under construction collapses in Lagos

Many people are reportedly trapped under rubble after a three-storey building under construction, collapsed this afternoon at Richard Abimbola street in the Ilasa area of Lagos state. Officers of the state Emergency Management Authority are at the scene of the incident to rescue the trapped victims.

Meanwhile about 7 of the construction workers have been rescued.

  7. Collapsing of buildings can be prevented with a proper soil test. Clients will spend 50 million naira constructing a home but can't spend 500 thousand naira on soil test.

  12. 97 percent of construction projects in Lagos state are handled by quacks , some of the building owners even chase away the architects and engineers from their projects because they don't pay them and they call in the quacks because they want cheap services, they compromise engr specifications because they wanna save costs , if these acts are not stopped, buildings wld start coming down on minute basis from now
