Don't worry Linda; feeling apprehensive is natural and part of positive growth.

I am having my book launch here in the UK and i'm completely petrified with anxiety. Fear of the unknown is real.

Good luck with the new blog design.

That New platform is just like other news website, For me I prefer this known simple blog. I will advise you to give another name to your new platform. I prefer simplicity. Or you can Create online Poll (Yes or No) to know the percentage of people that are willing. ...

Linda you no dey hear word. You can move to your site if you want to, if you are sure you have the necessary security to protect it from hackers. Don't allow your site depend on any idiot in the name of IT personnel. You are smarter than this.

Also, let your new site have the same feeling like before as on blogger. No cloggy pages, just simple scrolling up and down like facebook. So it will be like news feed on facebook. You can increase the number of contents in a page or even if you have the way to do it, let all the contents be on a page, one just scrolls down and the page continues to reload.

Leave all these cloggy sites for newbies. It is not your signature. I don't think this is upgrading but trying to be independent. However, I don't know if personally you have what it takes to be independent. Many are envious of you. Don't trust your friend/worker IT personnel. Trusting google is better. Hackers are real and you are Linda Ikeji.

In my place of work here (HPC center), we have this adage that " if it is not broken, why fix it". In facebook and google, the employees also follow this.

So Linda I will say to you. Don't fix it, it is not broken and it doesn't look like it will break. This is not an upgrade. You are just trying to fix what is not broken.

My advice, keep your current page, then build your own site, sync both sites to have same content and look. Try to advertise the new site and see what happens.

I think you want to be independent so nobody can shut your site following policies. It is a nice idea, however I will tell you launching your own site now and whenever, even if that will happen is still same thing. Why not wait for that time, if it ever comes.

Don't just cause the problem yourself or fix a yet non-existent problem, allow the issues to come-up and then you can fix it. I repeat again, this is not an upgrade but simply trying to fix what is not broken. Unless there is something else we don't know.

You already have a lot of new projects, which are so nice. Why not put the energy you intend to use maintaining this site in developing and promoting your new ideas. I like that you work hard and the grace is also with you.

The more you upgrade your page, the more readers you loose. I prefer It when it could be read offline. I hardly stick to your blog this days.

Looks good.I believe this is a good move. I think you should also put up an EVENTS tab just beside the LindaIkeji TV and fill it with your yearly event schedules (like I'll rather be selfmade events, your secondary school tour, etc) and pictures. Will make it easy for people to see and follow all the events. Write me if you need help with this. Cheers.

#1 LAW OF SUCCESS: You don't change a winning team!!

My take on this is that you don;t need to change from this blog. This is your identity. This is your brand. You have ventured into so many things lately but this blog still remains your major brand. Why change it now....except you have a problem with google.

Please stay here for now..atleast until your other new brands gains some strength. You need a strong root upon which other brands can flourish. If you change it now, it would take your readers sometime to warm up to your new blog..

Please give it another 1 year. Am begging you.

Thanks

Not the best move, the new one is slow and very unfamiliar. but if you insist, good luck.

I don't like the new site. It's too clogged up. Kinda remind me of Linda ikeji social and we all know how that turned out. I will advice you to stick to this platform cos I know I will not go to your other site since it looks like a lot of work when deciphering the content.
I don't know who your advisors are neither do I understand this sudden urge in undertaking so many projects at once. Why don't you just relax and focus on your TV and its growth. I am yet to warm up to Linda ikeji TV and now you want to take away the one place I go to for relaxation. Oh well, do what you must

Anonymous said...

I understand the need for upgrade, but fixing what is not broken, is inviting unnecessary trouble. The new website seems so busy and uncessary complicated. if you are hell bend on having a website, then you can develop the new website exactly like the old one. look at nairaland.com for instance, it maintain the same layout and style since inception.

Why change a winning team? you are doing great with your blog. If you are abandoning your blog for a new website, I think you are getting it wrong but if you are keeping the blog and starting a website like the linda ikeji tv and all you have going on but your blog is still on, then that is great. KEEP THE BLOG

On second thought Anonymous 10:37 has a great point too, listen to him. You have your hands full of things that are yet to gain ground. We the readers need the stability we have here for now until your TV and them grows and you can move all. We don't want to be left hanging on unstable ground in a new place and how secure can they keep the new site for you compared to the world class security you are getting from Google through their blogspot.

Linda pls take note of this,I'm so scared for you too.I don't want you to lose money or ur ffwers. You already have new stuffs you're working on,let it stand first for like a year before making your move abt d blog/website. Handling too many things at a go can be kinda stressful n concerning d hacking issue, pls be careful with the people you entrust it to,not everyone around you is happy with you. You know you have d final choice, choose wisely if your heart says you shld then you have my support. Pls I'm begging give it more time .thank you

Unknown said...

Supported! Give it more time@linda. I have check out d page it's good but still give it more time. I wish you d best.

Anonymous said...

I can only wish you well. This isnt what you need now. You are chewing too much. Go and study the life of rich people. They took one step at a time. This new site isnt it for me. where will the sponsor post appear. on the right hand side or what? sorry alot of us wont advert with you in that case then. cos no body looks at the right hand side of a page to see advert. people focus on the news feed more and that is where the sponsor post need to be. if not i am sorry you will loose on sponsor post.

Anonymous said...

The new site is TOO BUSY!!!!!!...SIMPLICITY is your selling point.

fly guy said...

leave as it is ooo, d reason i come to ur site is d simple layout, if it a'int broke don't fix it

Anonymous said...

please dont. Google will punish you. your ranking will drop like crazy.money will drop too,

Anonymous said...

There is way too much going on on that site, the reason i preferred this old site to bellanaiaj is because it is easy to navigate. I know in your mind you are saying 'they will get used to it' no oh. you will lose viewers, i will run to sdk or bellanaija because your new site is jampacked, it is way too busy, i don't even know where to look and what if i miss some posts because i didn't see it as clearly as i can see the old ones. just let this one be or find a way to make a new site look like the old site but more polished because I will run oh, i have enough problems on my plate.

Anonymous said...

Yes Linda be posting comments on time so that it will make it more interesting and people can interact with each other, not posting comments after a whole day. It makes one forget about the whole issue and discourages people from commenting. The essence of the comment session is to hear from others and exchange ideas.

Anonymous said...

The site is too busy Linda, Streamline it and get it better organized in terms of content. People have a short attention span. Good luck on the move to the new site.

Tayo said...

Your ranking is going to drop... Google favours their own product... don't move... create another website instead and still keep this one.

Doesn't preview excellently on my phone though and doesn't have a unique look. but Its a good move. My only advice is retain blogger while running that one at least for a while.

Hi Linda,
Not sure the new look and feel is the right move. You need a technical team to intelligently help you transition.

Don't guess. Back your move with solid data. There are tools out there paid/free that can help you at this stage. Quick suggestion, get a custom theme made for your blog.

Mail me if you need consultation

What a stupid move Linda. We all come here because of straight forwardness and simplicity of the blog.

Anonymous said...

Noooo Why change a winning formula. It's like coke changing the taste and formula, it's not going to work.

Anonymous said...

The devil is playing with you. Stick to a format that works already. I know it's itching you to expand in some ways. But leave this one alone. Same thing they told Nicole Bitchy and she no listen. She wanted to form Oprah and opened Nicole Code. Now look at her now. Where she dey?

Anonymous said...

Linda No. No. No. Ask your readers directly, do a comprehensive research and online voting system on Twitter and here to see what we think before you move it. We want you to win but this one is just pushing it.

Dear Linda, I Humbly do suggest you DONT take this move and i have reasons.
First: Your technical guys did a pretty bad job during the launch of LIS. From slow page loads to crashes... It was a total disaster that made the customer experience bad.

Second: Hosting on Google / Blogger is the best that could ever happen to a blogger. Owning to the fact that they have a robust cloud computing system with little downtimes. They handle all the heavy lifting for you and so you just focus on the blogging. Best case scenario is that you change the codes to your templates.

Third. The planned new site HONESTLY seems too crowded. Asked why people visited your site often over others? Besides Divine grace, The current format made it so easy to quickly read through news and gists. The planned template is too crowded and has a ver very slow page load. You should put yourself in the shoes of the visitors. If the experience is bad, it just a matter of time before they move to the next available one that is easier.
Use the story of Nairaland as an Example, They tried changing the theme but was told to revert back by their users as they were accustomed to the template.
Another example, Facebook... They improve on minor features but don't change the general feel else would break users experience.

Your Nigerian rank was at 25 the last time I checked.... taking this dive may take it further...

Truly, your technical team needs to be more proactive. Hosting your own site out of google will definitely come with its own risks and expenses.

This is my very humble opinion.

Regards,
Desmond
