Firefighters in California revive dog using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation

The Santa Monica Fire Department responded to a residential fire but thankfully, no human was caught up in the blaze. There was one near-fatality however, a 10yr old dog named Nalu. The fire department said that once inside the building, they found Nalu,  “unresponsive” and “overcome by heat and smoke.”

“The dog was quickly pulled from the structure not breathing and without a pulse."
The dog's owner Crystal Lamirande said:
“His eyes were glazed over and he was not breathing and I assumed he was dead."
Fireman Andrew Klein stepped in to save the day.
Photos and video from the scene show Klein giving the dog mouth-to-mouth as other firefighters assisted and one held a special pet-sized oxygen mask over the dog’s snout. Twenty minutes later , Nalu was revived. Klein said:
“He was totally lifeless. I picked him up and ran out of the apartment because time is key, especially with a small dog ... Failure was not an option.”
Nalu was back to its frisky self after 24 hours in an oxygen chamber.
