Police foil attack by two female suicide bombers in Borno

Police in Maiduguri, Borno state, yesterday evening, foiled an attack by two female suicide bombers in Maiduguri, Borno state.

According to a statement by the state's Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Victor Isuku, the suspected suicide bombers arrived at a police checkpoint at Geleri village at about 8.30pm and one of them detonated the IED strapped to her during interrogation, killing herself and the other suicide bomber whose IED vest did not explode.


“Three residents of the area were however injured. The Police EOD unit rushed to the scene to render the unexploded IED safe. The area has been secured and normalcy restored” the statement read
