Court orders DSS to Shi'ite leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzakky, his wife

Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court in Abuja today ordered the unconditional release of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Malami Zeenat within 45 days. Delivering judgement in a case filed by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria aka Shiites against the Federal government, Justice Kolawole ordered the Federal government to pay the religious leader and his wife N50m as damages and also build a new accommodation for the family in any part of Kaduna State or the Northern region of their choice.

El-Zakzaky and his wife have been in DSS custody since December 2015 following a clash between his members and the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna state.

  16. Guys let's not get emotional here.kanu and ipob are trying to break away from Nigeria thats treason el zakky issue is blocking road during religious procession dey are not breaking away dey are not agitating for their own country. But in order to be fair the FG just need to let dem go.They need to have a sit down with all group and agitators and resolve dis issue. The Dss needs to obey that court order

  18. What a travesty when compared with Nnamdi Kanu's case. How on earth did a coordinate court (Federal High Court) in one breath order unconditional release of El Zazaky and another Court denied Kanu. Justice, the last l checked, was blind. But it sees & distinguishes the north from the south in Nigeria. Up Buhari!

  19. This country Nigeria is a disgrace nation. So fake and bias. Well, the Hausa and Yoruba's control controls things in this country . the problem with ibos is Unity and one voice. They rather prefer money to their lives and the future of their children. The house know about it and always use it against them to divide them. That is why Buhary can stand authoritative to say bihafra is dead for ever because he knows that he can even bribe their leader namdi KANU and he will forget about the agitation.

  20. Same judge that does not show up for Charles Okah's trial because he claims he has conferences to attend. And that's it. Only in Nigeria can a judge not show up for a prescheduled trial date and audaciously cite attending conference as a reason for not coming to court. What a messed up country
