Recession: Father of two steals 12 wraps of fufu and pot of soup in Bayelsa (photo)

A 35 year old father of two was nabbed for allegedly stealing 12 wraps of fufu and a pot of soup from a restaurant in Igbogene, Bayelsa State. According to Guardian newspaper, the Igbogene vigilante group said they apprehended Kaduna Eradiri at about 2am on Thursday while sneaking into the restaurant to steal the food.

‘We were on patrol around 2:00am when we got to the Timida School area, we saw a man at a local food joint eating, we questioned the culprit and he confessed to have stolen’ a pot of soup, some wraps of fufu and half basin of garri. He claimed it was the economic hardship that led him to the heinous act.’
He was presented before the paramount ruler of the area, the Obenibe XI of Epie Kingdom, Hope Green Adike for intervention. Hope Green ordered that the father of two who claims he only committed the act to feed his children, parade the stolen items around the community, after which he was forced to eat it.

After the owner of the restaurant was contacted she simply said she had no money to take up the case to the Police, and will therefore allow him to go freely.

  8. And a lot of us wont see beyond our noses. What type of ruler / community leader parades an allegedly hungry man? Whilst I don't expect them to pat him on the back and say well done, couldn't the Mr. ruler have handled it discretely without people knowing he pardoned the guy? We are a country of very wicked hearted people. This same ruler and the community will roll out the red carpet for the political thieves who plunged us into the economic situation we are experiencing.

Until we are ready to banish political thieves when they come home, the masses will continue to suffer. Make we all siddon dey wait for government ok?.

  11. That traditional ruler is mean and senseless. So a man that stole fufu and soup to feed his children, he ordered that he be paraded and made to eat it. Stupid traditional ruler, same that will connive with politicians to rob his people.

  25. They shouldn't have humiliated like that, knowing fully that he did it out of a desperate situation. And for the woman, too bad that she didn't just forgave him out of a big heart, but simply because she didn't have the money to further the case.

  26. God theres indeed hardship! and these leaders are doing nothing but getting richer. I forsee a mass protest/revolution that will definitely awake our leaders to be more responsible and human.
