I am a TempleGate Polytechnic graduate and I now work at ICAN- This is my success story

This is a sponsored post...
My name is Obiero Cletus Timothy, I completed my ND and HND at Template Polytechnic in Abia State. I did my Industrial Attachment at Skye Bank Plc and NYSC at ICAN after which I was retained by ICAN and now work there.
I opted for a polytechnic as opposed to a university because of the Technicalities involved in studying Accounting. Most universities in Nigerian hardly put emphasis on practicals forgetting the fact that such courses as Accounting not only deal with theory but practicals as well.I chose to attend Temple Gate polytechnic because it was a new school at the time and had all the facilities, equipments,  and manpower required by NBTE- which is the governing and approval board for all educational institutions in Nigeria.

Temple Gate Polytechnic(TGPA), is a private institution accredited by NBTE and located in Abia State, Nigeria. TGPA not only offered me a high quality education with well equipped laboratories, but also gave me a platform to develop my leadership skills. I contested for the post of the S.U.G president in the 2013/2014 S.U.G elections at TGPA and won the seat. The post further exposed me to such national platforms as National Assoc. of Nigerian Students( N.A.N.S), National Assoc. of  Polytechnic Students (N.A.P.S.), and National Assoc. of South-East Students (N.A.S.E.S),  which I am an ambassador as a past Union Leader.

After my ND program, I did my Industrial Training at Skye Bank Plc. Out of 430 applicants who were interviewed, I was among the 5 people chosen because of my sound knowledge and good background in Accounting which I acquired during my ND level days at TGPA.

Upon completion of my program at Template Polytechnic, I was fortunate enough to be posted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). It has been a great privilege serving at ICAN-  I was the only corper posted to the institute to serve even though I was not chartered yet. This was due to my sound understanding and knowledge in Auditing and Taxation, coupled with the skillset I acquired from TGPA. I am proud to say that ICAN retained me after my NYSC due to my work ethic, commitment, and knowledge.

TGPA has really helped me achieve some of my goals by giving me the fundamentals needed in my academics during my ND and HND level.I thank God almighty for my success thus far, and I certainly attribute a huge part of my success to Templegate Polytechnic- Long Live TGPA!

  3. i do not have time to read all but the little you disqualify yourself buy comparing Polytechnic with University, anyway i went to the two, one of the best in Nigeria, The Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti. there is no practical anything anywhere apart from the school of Technology and Engineering, if it is school of business forget it with polytechnic all they have there is intimidation by lecturers who are not trained to teach but one way or the other they find themselves in teaching. never you make this kind of mistake in your life again.
