Photos: National Assembly staff seal Abdulmumin Jibrin's office

National Assembly staff and security operatives today sealed off the office of sacked chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, who was suspended for 180 sitting days and also barred him from positions of authority in the House till the end of the 8th assembly.

Jibrin was suspended following his refusal to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Ethics and privileges to address the allegations of budget padding he leveled against the Speaker and 13 other lawmakers

  13. Bla,bla, bla of the zoonation where charlatans are ruling. Nigeria needs a revolution. Just bundle all these people in power and the past ones and put them in Siberia or the North pole for them to live with polar bears. Then bring in patriotic citizens who love our zoonation and the citizens without selfish interests.

  16. This makes absolutely no sense ... he is there to do a constitutional job. How many sittings does the house have in a whole session for them to suspend him from representing his people. By suspending him, you effectively suspend the entire constituency. The house should not have the power to do that. Only the people who elected him. I hope Jibrin challenges this suspension in court, it reeks of illegality. Suspending him from leadership ...yes but not from his duly elected seat. That is ultra vires the house

  17. They refused to look in the allegations he raised, but went ahead to suspend him for raising an alarm. Another thing that surprises me is the President's silence on this matter, but was quick to comment (albeit indirectly) on Mama P's case

    de gods are wise!

  27. Nigerians wake up and protest this! Where are all the human rights and action groups? Why do Nigerians just fold their arms while these insane thieves rub their faeces on the faces of the people? Unless it can be proven Jibrin is a lunatic, then the whole house of rep at this time should be investigated. The Judiciary, shame on you! We pay you for doing nothing! Shame! The president may be constitutionally handicapped in some things but I warn you, Mr. President, this country is on the verge of going ballistic and something you take so minutely like this could be the trigger. Set the houses right. We need these houses cleaned up if we must fight corruption else the whole campaign is a joke. And we are still expecting swift judgement on those arrrsted. No one has been jailed yet in spite of all the billions of dollars stolen and all the glaring evidence. Please let the witchest and wizards of this country fight for us too na.
