Customs officers stationed at the Badagry-Seme border have arrested a suspected smuggler, Moses Degbogbahunn pictured above, while he was trying to smuggle in bags of imported rice which he carried in an ambulance and packaged as corpses.

According to the mobile patrol team leader, Chief Superintendent of Customs, Ozah M., the suspected smuggler was arrested after officers at the border noticed the frequency with which he drove his ambulance, a Volvo with number plates DV 74 EKY, pass the border with dead bodies. A stop and search exercise showed the bags of rice that were packaged as a corpses.

  13. At this period of time customs should stop arresting food smugglers. They should concentrate on arms and weapons smugglers. There is hungry in the land.

  23. May I no be quoted that I justified the act of this man as being right but I think equity should prevail here. The country has been in an economic depleting state as a result of what our leaders have put us in. The man smuggled the rice because he was either hungry or wanted to make sales. What of the Political Jagabans smuggling arms, burying money in sewage tanks and those creating budgets and exercising lip services to budgets they know the funds allocated will end up in their stomach.
I rest my case by saying - The man didn't commit a crime, although the way at which he committed the action maybe discouraging.

  27. So just 2 bags of rice has suddenly become a big issue in Nigeria. See the extent Buhari and APC government has ruined this country. A clueless government that don't have something reasonable to do must find something stupid.
