Nigerian Soldier recounts how a child was born in the heat of an impending Boko Haram attack

Nigerian soldier, Celestine Nwabueze (pictured), revealed via Social Media how he assisted a woman who gave birth in the heat of an impending attack by Boko Haram. Sharing photos of the baby, he also revealed that the woman, out of gratitude, wanted to name the child after him.
"This is where I respect women so much. This child was born at my back when those idiots wanted to attack the villagers.
Despite the fear, the mother stood still, endured the pain and with the help of the old women at the village, had a safe delivery. The woman wanted to name the child after me, but due to me being a Christian and she is not, I have to give her a name Abukar that's in Igbo, it's Ebuka."

  14. I simply love this! I wish I would live to see Nigeria show and share this kind of LOVE. Indeed it is our politicians who have used nepotism and tribalism to sustain the divide and rule system that has pitched us against each other. I served in Kaduna in 2000 and that changed a lot about my perception of an average enlightened Hausa man. Those guys are simply baby-hearted, kind hearted and fun to be with. Whatever and however that have changed today is a creation of politicians.

  20. And some peeps are using tribe and religion to divide this country! Our diversity is our strength, we should embrace it rather than tear it down.

  30. Celestine Nwabueze, I hope you read my comment. You are a gallant courageous soldier. I salute your heroics and your inspiring assistance towards the new mother. As I pray for the welfare of the mother and child, I hope the child will learn that the circumstances of his birth proves that our diversity can be a strength and that different ethnic groups can work together and live in peace. Celestine, well done and I pray that you return alive to see your loved ones. God bless you and other gallant soldiers who do violence on our behalf so that we can sleep peaceably in our beds.
