Basketmouth says exchange rate is set to spike as he shares his thoughts on CBN's new money transfer policy

CBN has stopped all privately owned money transfer companies from wiring money, leaving only three foreign owned companies to do it. Comedian Basketmouth thinks this is a wrong move as it will make life more difficult for Nigerians. See the rest of what he posted after the cut...

    2. He even said he knows nothing about economics. I don't know what people expect from him. Even if he has people handling different sectors, a president still needs sufficient wisdom and knowledge to integrate different sectors and make sure things work cohesively. But right now, we have different people ranging from semi competent to clueless running our economy, and the person supposed to ensure at least that they know what they are doing is an illiterate who knows nothing more than hounding political enemies. I really thought we couldn't sink lower..guess I was wrong.

  13. My brother, and fellow Nigerians, western Union, Moneygram, and what have you, are all rip off on Nigerians. The huge profit they make taking double commission, the CBN rate and other policies concerning such transactions, are policies to make the poor remain poor. Being a medium through which many Nigerians abroad uses to wire money to their family, FG (CBN) want to see families that may survive through that means destroyed

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yea, only those abroad will understand this. Imagine Western Union will sell dollar to you when you have naira at 410 but when u have dollar and need naira they will sell at 320. Inukwa akuko. Anyway people should learn to boycott them, Let scatter the country once since that is what CBN wants.

I tell you with this new nonsense law, a dollar will be equal to 1000 naira before the end of december.

Buhari has just chosen to work with illiterates, abi na by proxy illiteracy they affect them.

Lets I forget, basketmouth close ur dirty mouth. You supported this administration now it is affecting you personally and u are ranting. You never see anything

Buhari deal with us for we are stupid.

    1. There's no evil things this guy didn't not say about GEJ. I think 2 or 3 months Buhari took over, in a show like that... BM said if GEJ were still our president we would have been begging our neighboring countries like Togo, Niger, for some money.

  26. Try to see the bigger picture uncle basketmouth, the need to reduce the over 200 operators to three is a way of stemming the tide of money laundering, its easier to regulate companies with a presence in Nigeria to those that operate virtually, they make income off Nigerians and they don't give anything back to the country. It will lead in the short term to hike in Forex rate as you rightly said, but as the three licensed operators increase their operations or more operators register their presence in the country things will normalize. It's for our own good,Expansion in operation means more jobs.

  34. Basketmouth, this your comment is annoying the hell out of me. Were you in hibernation or living under a rock when Jonathan said that the choice before us is clear, the choice to go back to the old ways of doing things or the choice to move forward? You did not see all those adverts with the tractors moving backwards and now you are talking? A simple international payment I made with my humble keystone mastercard in less than ten minutes in 2015 is what I have to go back to the 2005 method of looking for dollars on the streets and then going to buy a card. That's archaic and I have you to blame for it.
