River shockingly turns to dry land at Kara Market in Lagos (photos)

A part of the popular Ogun River which flows under the Kara Bridge around Ojodu Berger area of Lagos State suddenly and shockingly turned dry today June 18th. The Kara cattle market community under the bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway has become a Mecca of some sort as people besieged the community to see the dried section of the river which once provided water for the Kara cattle and ram market.

Residents of the area say they woke up this morning to see the river which served as one of their means of transportation where canoes were used to reach the dense waters, totally dry and it wasn't like that the day before. The surface of the water had become firm and people can now stand on the portion of the river. What do you guys think happened? More photos after the cut...

    1. Bro this one is not Tsunami ooo... I live in this area and when I was in secondary school I used to go to the river with my peers to swim and we catch fish too. As big and deep this river is fishermen catch big fishes and for many years tipper comes there to pack sand, infact there is the association of sand and tipper drivers there. They pack sand from this river to tell you how deep this river is. The river suddenly disappeared over night and the land which was suppose to be deep suddenly filled up to ground level with leaves on it like it's been growing since 2months ago. Bro this one is not a Tsunami explanation, let's be real abeg.

  49. There is a good scientific explanation for this which is; A river is a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river. In some cases a river flows into the ground and becomes dry at the end of its course without reaching another body of water. Also excessive use could make the river divert especially due to global warming, the diverted water remains underground and later becomes a spring once it reaches breaking point in another location

  50. The river channel might have changed course upstream after the heavy rains if the past few days. This happens frequently in the Niger Delta during which silt and sediments fill up one old channel and the river changes course into another channel. By viewing Google Map of the area it should be possible to see what had happened. There is no miracle about it.

    1. Can this happen without people seeing a change in the pattern of flow of water? A sink hole that will drain such a river system must be at least a cubic kilometer plus. This is strange and must be one of the largest if not the largest in the world.

  54. It's possible the river was channelled into a man made dam, it's possible it's been diverted, it's alsonly possible it's been blocked at a smaller channel by people who build along water ways. Am sure that river is flooding other areas let them investigate especially with the way we are hearing communities who never experienced flooding are being flooded now.

    ReplyDelete
  55. if you like blow all the grammar in your mouth, all I know is that this is end time.

Let d pharaohz leave d land so they won't b caught unawares

    ReplyDelete
  58. Well this happens a lot in my village, a stream in my arear disappears every 4yrs. And then reappear when no one least expects it. The elders consult oracle to knw if it's a good sign or if there will be any sacrifice to be done, but then they arrived at a conclusion that anytime such happens, the rate of mortality and sicknesses drops drastically, meaning it's takes death and sicknesses away from the land. That river will still reappear someday. Not anytime soon anyways, so the residents should enjoy it for the time being.

  65. This is not the first time I have seen such a thing , where I come from we have more than 4 rivers at one time one of the rivers vanish as if it never existed, according to the findings the river spirit was angry, I believe that wind, fire, earth, sky, rivers, and every other living thing has a spirit behind it, the one in my village came back after a while, bit in some case it might not cone back, so if is really a flowing river it will surely come back or maybe not, it has nothing to do with end time, and I don't think people should panic it is normal for flowing rivers to move.

  67. This is not a strange occurrence it has happened before which am aware of, sometimes rivers dry up ,depending on the amount of stress and force it goes through , I don't find it strange cause I have witness this before people might not notice the change in pattern but this is not the first time a river will vanish , it might come back and it might not , because you see it as a mere river but it is also a living organism it breaths , it has feelings and it moves ,so it can decide to stay or move.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The same thing is happening at epe,and there is a cattle market too nearby.
The faeces and waste from the cattle market created natural fertilizer for the soil below and killed any air breathing organism, algae grew at fast rate, solidifying the river bed,d rest is history.

It has ever happened in m home town in Anambra state when River Mamu left Agulu to settle @ Okpeze, a nearby town bcs Agulu people purposely chased d river away by desecrating d river bcs it was wickedly drowning Agulu people for no just cause.

  92. Its a parable from GOD. Everyone here were just looking at dis from a simple and a funny direction but let's come to look at it dis way,(1)we are in a rainy season and common sense can tell us that temperature is not high so dia for it is impossible for a river dis big to go dry overnight and to support that we all can see water at d other side of d bridge. And secondly to make it more clearer it happens overnight***WHY OVERNIGHT? here d word overnight simplifies **SUDDEN** and d plant means ***AGRICULTURE.let me now explain d whole meaning of this beautiful parable from GOD.
let me start like dis,d water in dis parable simplifies our CRUDE OIL while overnight simplifies SUDDEN...GOD is only telling us DAT he gave us d crude oil abundantly which is d water and overnight (suddenly) he can dry it off(lose value) and all u will be left with will be just ur land in d morning(NEW BEGINNING or NEW AGE) but my grace I will make u live with agriculture(THE GRASS).
So d message is straight... I GAVE U THE CRUDE OIL AND OVERNIGHT I CAN DRY IT OFF AND ALL U WILL BE LEFT WITH IS YOUR LAND BUT FOR MY LOVE FOR U,I WILL MAKE U SURVIVE BY MY GRACE WITH AGRICULTURE....to understand all dis is by GODs grace...Alihamdulilai.......Bailey Olaitan.
