Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Rickey Tarfa sues MTN, EFCC, others for N5bn

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Rickey Tarfa, has filed a lawsuit against telecommunications company, MTN Nigeria, and EFCC for the alleged violation of his right to privacy. EFCC had on February 5 arrested Rickey Tarfa and confiscated his mobile phones & Mercedez Benz SUV, on the allegation that he hid two alleged suspects in his car to prevent their arrest.

Tarfa is seeking a court declaration that his right to privacy was violated when his phone call records/log was allegedly accessed without his authority and made available to Sahara Reporters and other online news media without a lawful court order. 

He is urging the court to order MTN and EFCC to pay him N5billion for the violation of his rights.

Lord Denning said "it is better that 100thieves go free than that one innocent man should suffer" . As much as we hate the law because it is sometimes slow and has a lot of loopholes, it is the law and it is supreme. You cannot reap the dividends of democracy and use military style to rule. Since last year mtn has been on the front page of every news paper, Its either they are owing government or they are using another network server with out permission or they are infringing on other peoples right. Mr Rickey Tarfa, EFCC will ague that it was a matter of national security that's why they ordered mtn to accessed your call logs.

I think Tarfa is entitled to sue them for violating his privacy because MTN arent supposed to give any security agency/agent customers information either private contact or messages without the costumer's authorization. upon saying that now that they figure he gave a Judge 225,000 Naira he need to explain that to the new judge assign to the case. for now mr Tarfa "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning.

The hallowed chamber has become the horror chamber. I hope Efcc would beam its penetrative searchlight on the judiciary. A lot would be revealed. God save this country.
