US freelance writer/journalist, Imade Nibokun, took to her twitter handle this morning to rant about Nigerian men and how many of them are not good fathers. Imade, who has never met her biological father, says she avoids old Nigerian men like a plague. See more of her tweets after the cut...

ReplyDeleteGrabs popcorn! Half of you cursing the girl need to go have a serious talk with your mother's about just how awesome daddy was. Well, idunno about being bad fathers but being bad husband...,....
DeleteMy dad is not.
ReplyDelete#*karlishah*
Nigerian fathers are awful. The typical one is furniture, he does nothing but scream at his wife and look for food around the house. He thinks bringing money is the only thing that makes him a man of the house. They don't know it takes more. God bless the wonderful Nigerian men who invest in their children's lives. Most Nigerian children owe their mothers their lives because they did everything go ensure they were brought up well. That's why you hear people in Nigeria say, women train your sons or daughters. You never hear them give men that responsibility because they don't bother with child care.
ReplyDeleteThat's entirely your opinion.
DeleteQuite a number..... I agree. What oyibo movie make u for see real fathers love
ReplyDeleteI think I might have some info where she can locate her dad. That if she is interested. Seriously
ReplyDeleteHmmm
ReplyDeleteAnd who will blame her for that? She has her reasons. Though I disagree
ReplyDeleteOk nah,nigeria men reply her
ReplyDeleteTrue!!! Ne-yo is Nigerian, but he's refuses to recognize his roots becos of an estranged father..

DeleteBecause yours abandoned you does not mean you should generalized it mine never abandoned me biko
ReplyDeletePEPSI ADDICT
Dear Imade Nibokun you obviously have daddy issues and because you did not have your father around does not mean MOST Nigerian men are crappy fathers. I agree that we have crappy Nigerian fathers but not MOST of them. Infact they are a whole lot of fathers that are wonderful and my dad is one of them.....You don't use one father that is yours to judge all of themmm... You need therapy...ProudlyDeltan
ReplyDeleteI agree that not all of them are, but most are INDEED crappy fathers, mine abandoned me too, I don't speak Yoruba becos of that and my mum is Ibo
DeleteAnd my daughter doesn't speak ibo because of that, because David D is useless! Well, My Daughter doesn't remember him.

ReplyDeleteGeneralizing because of your experience is not smart.
ReplyDeleteWoman just don't generalized abeg. There are many good responsible Nigerian father everywhere, my father is one of them. Just because your father is a crap doesn't make all Nigerian dad bad

ReplyDeleteHmm mm her opinion thou.
ReplyDeleteAsshole. More Instagram followers for you
ReplyDeleteYou yourself contribute to that image, Linda, with how you treat Nigerian men engaging with their children as if it's a novelty. I can't count how many times I've come to LIB to you showing a Nigerian man nurturing his child as if to say, "See. They're not all bad. They're not all separated from their children's up bringing."
ReplyDeleteHer Wahala! Or she simply thinks this is the best way to the man in question could find her.
ReplyDeleteNa she sabi. Linda observe!
ReplyDeleteShe's got serious Daddy issues. Sorry bae...lol...ndo. pele
ReplyDeleteShe is kinda right...
ReplyDeleteTry and find, its your choice.
ReplyDeleteShe is spot on... our men need to change. As long as we keep on making excuses for them... they won't
ReplyDeleteGirl, you sound bitter and angry; maybe you should try the young Nigerian men instead of the middle aged men
ReplyDeleteNo be her fault, na where she sabi reach na him she talk so.
ReplyDeleteThe story of her life..
ReplyDeleteIt's true tho, Nigerian men Smh!
Esp the Yoruba men mtscheww.
When we know the truth, let's say it.. *FYI, I'm a yoruba lady
Your opinion
ReplyDeleteShe is trying to belong with the white people, do not mind her
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't acknowledge a monkey like this if she were my daughter
ReplyDeleteNa she sabi...most she generalise it...Rubbish
ReplyDeleteI agree, even the ones you have in your life are no exception. There are few good nigerian father's though like my father in law. My father is nothing to write home about. Didn't take care of his children. 5 kids 2 mothers, on top of that now he is old he has a sense of entitlement. Am your father! Lool you should be glad you don't know urs
ReplyDeleteYour dad might be crappy but that doesn't make most Nigerian dads one.
ReplyDeleteVery true, they ain't just crappy fathers but horrible husbands as well. They never love and respect their wives yet they want to force her to be obedient. SUCH A SLAVE - MASTER RELATIONSHIO THAT NIGERIAN MEN CALL MARRIAGE AND FAMILY
ReplyDeleteMaybe i should throw a subliminal hit at her creating a new post or throw a direct hit here..anyways i ain't had no rebuttal but since i blog and rap i'd just say this i think she has daddy issues..its pathetic if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteWell. Some were not all.
ReplyDeleteMy dear, just thank God you have reunited with your dad, that's what matters now.
ReplyDeleteImade, you should have asked your mom a little bit of your father's background. Many reasonable children do that just to identify with their background. And I'm sure she could have told you one or two things about your dad. Except that, may be, your dad was probably just like your mom: just sleeping around with each other without getting to know each other better.Thinking of the consequence; end result: YOU! So, I still don't see the logic trying to avoid Nigerian men simply because of the potential questions of " where is you dad " disbelief. You need to reach out and know your people. Don't rely on the thinking of your mom(apparently she does not have one) because if she knew any better she would have asked all those questions you are grappling with today about your heritage. You don't have to be in Nigeria to connect with your people. Just open your mouth honey, and ask questions and they will be answered. My point of advice:DO NOT GET ANGRY WITH MIDDLE AGED NIGERIAN MEN, GET MAD WITH YOUR MOM FOR NOT ASKING THOSE QUESTIONS SHE SUPPOSED TO HAVE ASKED YOUR DAD!
ReplyDeleteI think your mother and grandmother are mad together. Abunu!
DeleteTrue, most are just spermatogenesis donors. My estranged husband is one of thhem
ReplyDeletei can relate with this story
ReplyDeletei can relate with this story
ReplyDeleteCrappy father has a crappy daughter with crappy assumptions
ReplyDeleteLol.
DeleteLol lol.
U r crazy.
Abeg Nigerian men are crappy fathers, in my class in Unilag we almost formed association ( association of children whose father left them) we were about 6 of us, we became friends cos of that and guess What? most of us are not yet married becos we are extra careful, we are trying to avoid our mother's mistakes
DeleteMy dad remains the best dad ever.So my dear friend not all Nigeria men are crappy fathers.Yours was a crappy father .Deal with it.
ReplyDeleteComing from one middle aged, "Nigerian" Dad, tell them to go and f*ck themselves! Useless people...
ReplyDeleteSo pathetic
ReplyDeleteSo pathetic. Okay Nigeria men reply her
ReplyDeleteSo pathetic
ReplyDeleteMen in the house over to you. I'm just a guy.
ReplyDeleteUr headache
ReplyDeleteThat your dad is an a*s*o*e doesn't mean everybody's dad is. You not only don't have a father, you were also not trained.
ReplyDeleteYa papa na crappy papa mean say every Nigerian papa dey crappy?
ReplyDeleteWhich name you wan give ya mama wey no look before she leap into bed?
Ur dad made the right choice, cos I believe u whr nt worth the stress..
ReplyDelete#FINEST
Don't blame the man. Blame the loser that opened her legs.
ReplyDeleteIt's simple. Linda let's vote on the topic "if you want to marry a man like your father say aye". Count the ayes against the nays. We go kno weda she talk tru or not. Naija men hv a lot to learn by way of being a real dad
ReplyDeleteVery good...sure poll... But we'll be dissapointed to see that most Nigerian men are either crappy fathers or very bad husbands..just few can be exonerated
Deletereason why she is so ugly... she is so stupid to generalize cos of what her father did.
ReplyDeleteugly fool
Comments section to the top please. Anyways, Linda why do you put NIGERIAN in front of American? Seriously why. This person has NEVER been to Nigeria, or know her Father, whom I think did well to ESCAPE from her (c her mouth). If she does something bad in America, do you think the white man will add America behind Nigeria? Don't think so Love.
