Another terrorist group may emerge if poverty is not addressed - Bauchi gov

Bauchi state governor, Mohammed Abubakar, says another terror group may emerge if poverty and ignorance in the North East is not addressed. He said this during a meeting with a 12-member Assessment Team of the European Union (EU), United Nations (UN) and World Bank (WB) on insurgency devastated areas in the North-East in Bauchi yesterday February 3rd.

“Rebuilding infrastructure is important in rebuilding the areas but addressing the underlying factor of the insurgency is much more important because the North-East is seriously affected by poverty and ignorance. If poverty and ignorance are not properly addressed, they could provide grounds for the rise of another crazy group if Boko Haram is taken care of. We are running a risk if poverty is not addressed.”he said

  10. And I ask you, who are the cause of this poverty & ignorance? The answer is You,our Governors, our elder statesmen, our clerics ,our traditional rulers & everyone who has the power to touch lives but hasnt coz he/she lacked the balls to make the right decision/action.
Now we can keep blaming the world or other regions or even keep stating our problems a zillion times OR we can state by doing something meaningful to curb this menace.
Our leaders have failed us.My heart bleeds for our region & it irks me when men like this spite us in the face by feigning concern

  14. The Northern governors are to blame for the woes befalling that region because they do not leave up to their election promises instead they and their families live flamboyant life styles and allow the region to rot away in poverty and ignorance.

  16. You ppl should do something about that now. government won't be there for their citizens.
Nigerians will struggle by theirselves to open water borehole for fellow citizens, while our government will be there stealing for their selfishness and our ppl will be suffering.

  27. All you useless northern governors should address issues of poverty and education which needs urgent intervention in the north rather than embarking on white elephant projects. The north stinks of high level deprivation.

  41. Oh please, for how many years has the north ruled this country? They've had military rulers who could have built skyscrapers and tech powerhouses from sambisa to yola but they did not. Why? The almajiris and talakawas are essential to the power play of the elite, a veritable political and economic weapon. Before you come cup in hand as is characteristic, show us what you've done with almajiri education. Talk like this is just another ploy to wring more money out of a pot they contribute very little to.

Thieves I wish the youths of this country can chanel their energy towards getting rid of these old Thieves instead of fighting for stupid biafra or Niger delta or arewa.
