Kaduna Gov bans all religious procession owing Army/Shiite clash

Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai has placed a ban on all forms of religious procession in the state following last Saturday December 12th clash between the Nigerian Army and Shiite members. Nasir made the announcement during a state-broadcast today‎.
“We have witnessed sad events in Zaria. There have been tragic consequences and needless loss of lives, and we extend our condolences to the families that have been affected. In this sombre moment, the government has directed that steps be taken to address the humanitarian fallouts of the security operations.
Everyone has a fundamental right to their faiths and beliefs, but no one has any right to practice their faith in ways that diminish, distress or inconvenience others. Henceforth, no person or group, under any guise will be allowed to block any road, obstruct public highways, occupy public facilities or inconvenience citizens in Kaduna State. Anybody that needs to march may do so, but they cannot take over public facilities or disrupt social services and commercial activities in Kaduna State, and any march or procession can be undertaken only with the prior knowledge of, and protection of the police to prevent the breakdown of law and order,” he said.

  18. Good one Gov.El-Rufai...Have kept mute on dis shiite matter even after arguing with a friend he just thought I was heartless.. Bcos after watching the army vs shiite video, I blame the shiite members bcos about three of the army commanders or Chiefs came down from their vehicle to plead with them before they can use the public road?...So sorry about their losses but let be realistic here, the army may later be blame oo but the shiite started it

  28. Nice one El-Rufai.. No body holy pass!! They should go and show their holiness in their homes or in the house of God. Not on the streets.

  29. Seems like a nice decision before all groups decide to make that march for the dead shiites.
The government gets your grieve before this gives rise to another avenue for loss of lives.

  30. El Rufai should have banned dis violent shite group ever since, instead he was busy closing down peaceful churches and claiming they where violent, imagine d rubbish. You don't worth being a governor el rufai.
