War on ISIS coming? UN Security council approves 'all necessary measures' to fight the terror group

Following the terror attack in Paris and threats to bomb the US, World leaders have unanimously agreed to fight ISIS which is now being described as 'a global & unprecedented threat to international peace and security'. The UN Security Council met yesterday and called on countries to take 'all necessary measures' to fight ISIS in Syria and Iraq, in the wake of the attacks in France, Tunisia, Turkey, Lebanon and the downing of a Russian passenger plane over Egypt.

The resolution, drafted by France, states that the UN is determined 'to combat by all means this unprecedented threat', citing ISIS' 'systematic and widespread attacks' on civilians as reasons for action.

It also cites religious and ethnic persecution by ISIS, destruction of cultural heritage sites and recruiting foreign fighters. The measure is the 14th terrorism-related resolution adopted by the UN's most powerful body since 1999.

Agreements are often hard to find in the Security Council, where permanent members the United States, Russia, China, the UK and France can all veto resolutions.

WHAT THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION ON ISIS SAYS

'By its violent and extremist ideology, its terrorist acts, its continued gross systematic and widespread attacks directed against civilians, abuses of human rights and violations of international humanitarian law, including those driven on religious or ethnic ground, its eradication of cultural heritage and trafficking of cultural property, but also its control of significant parts and natural resources across Iraq and Syria and its recruitment and training of foreign terrorist fighters whose threat affects all regions and Member States, even those far from conflict zones, the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant constitutes a global and unprecedented threat to international peace and security.
The resolution also 'calls upon all Member States that have the capacity to do so take all the necessary measures ... on the territory under the control of ISIL in Syria and Iraq, to redouble and coordinate their efforts to prevent and suppress terrorist acts committed specifically by ISIL'.

It is well known that Russian and China love voting against USA, Britain and d rest to tackle world issue. This time around evil is at their doorstep. Good move UN, it's time to stop Isis, BH and the rest of them.

    1. Boko haram is regional and before now,our leaders were not serious, stealing funds meant for fighting bh.
As for isis, it directly threatens all those major nations in various regions & they are serious about protecting their own people,firstly- that's why they were voted in in the first place....you are not their priority, their own people are!!!
The question is,do our own leaders see us as their own priority? You answer that question, please! US should leave their arch enemy isis & come & fight boko haram that is not a threat to them?
Wait sef o,didnt they offer us help, did we co-operate? Didnt western nations tell us that we were unserious & left? Why wont they leave when we steal and politicise a war fr private gains!!!
Leave US abeg, most of the victorious nations of world war 2 are their strong allies, not nigeria!
Even russia will unite with the US for once since the 2nd world war! It is called common interests! Even their enemies then like japan & italy are on their side now- common interests!!!
Why do you think buhari is trying to align with the US- the most powerful nation in the world?
Thank them for the aid they have been giving you and are still giving preventing more deaths than boko haram has killed- hiv and TB drugs for free ,then let's get serious dealing with our problems!
Heaven helps those who help themselves!
      Dont misdirect your complaints!

  13. Odiegwu!!!! You people should ask yourselves who is sponsoring ISIS and who is buying oil from them for cheap. It's the same western powers. Where did they get their weapons from?. Why is it that Muslim radicals only come out from oil rich countries? Dear nigerians, the UN is corrupt!! This is a way nato wants to use to go into Syria and steal their oil. If we don't rise up and stand together in nigeria, the same thing will happen to us via bokoharam!!!!. The same people are sponsoring it and are seriously planing to destabilize our country. You people must rise up and support our troops...

That move must be made for the Muslims to know their place. 3m stunch christians died for it with the help of foreign countries now their eyes are open. Islam is not peace. I know peaceful religion and Islam is not one . We christians are the majority we should take charge before this guys follow spoil our south and to the northern christians we ojukwu warned u but no, Una no wan hear . 19. The Irony in their statistics most times. They said Book Harm is the worst terror group currently but it is the fear of Isis that is prompting their springing into action.

  22. mmmm hmm. because white people are now getting the end of the stick. boko haram will only get attention if it spreads to south africa where the whites live. specifically cape town. not joburg. even if joburg is burnt down, there will be no un resolution. i have been reflecting on the mayhem globally and i keep wondering if this is a "to the death war" between the extremely disempowered, disillusioned and disenfranchised and those they believe have robbed them of their futures and that they are using islam as their cause because islam condones a more fatalistic outlook relative to christianity which preaches waiting on ones God to answer aka hope?

Palestinians dont carry out stabbing attacks and terrorist acts by hamas and hezbollah sponsored by iran? I am sure u r blind to that! Hypocrite!!!
Speak the truth and refuse to let religion blind you! God has no religion and God is the truth for those who believe in him!!!
UN has done alot to bring them to the peace table....who stopped it? Was it not the warring parties? They dont want peace and wont compromise!
