Ministerial screening: APC leaders demand end to Saraki's CCT Travail

Well, he's done what they wanted him to do so reprieve may be coming the way of Senate President Bukola Saraki in respect of his travails at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). According to a report by Tribune, some leaders of APC who were impressed with the way he handled the screening and confirmation of all 36 ministers, now want the trial to end. They reportedly met recently to find ways to reconcile Buhari and Saraki

A source in the party told Sunday Tribune that the party chiefs were impressed that Saraki got the Senate to clear all the nominees, despite some real bottlenecks laid on the path of some of them.

“You can see that even in the days when the PDP had overwhelming majority, it was not always certain of getting all the ministerial nominees through the Senate. Most times, the Senate, even with an overwhelming majority of PDP members used to reject nominees of PDP presidents. But with a slim majority in the current Senate, the Senate President secured clearance for all our nominees. This is a good omen,” a leader of the party said.
The party chiefs also said that in the process of securing confirmation for all the nominees, Saraki also helped the APC secure its most-needed unity in the Senate, thus ensuring that the majority secured by the party was put to good use.
“It was the unity among APC senators that ensured the confirmation of Chief Rotimi Amaechi. If the division had remained, we won’t be able to achieve that, because all the PDP senators needed was just a few dissenting voices from the APC,” another source said.
“I have it on good authority that leaders of the party are insisting that one good turn deserves another and that they will work on Buhari in the new week to ensure that the party reciprocates the gestures shown by Saraki. The man has given indication that whatever the APC policies are, they can rely on the Senate as an ally,” another source stated.

  12. This shows we are still a bit backward in Nigeria, so definitely APC staged all the allegations against him and all he can do to clear his name was to confirm their nominees so therefore no change yet in the new regime just same old ways

Are we in the real or pseudo change? What kind of political party is this? People like Aboki, Bonario and Juliet do not have the morality to come on this blog and comment about moral values. What a shame! These are the kind of leaders we are breeding for the future. APC is a fraud. Their leaders are just playing games with our system. Our economy is gradually sliding into recession, our power output has drastically droped to 3000mw, armed robbery on the rise, our judiciary has been compromised, our NFF is still owing siasis and amunike with their boys over 5months salaries and poverty is on the rise. Buhari is busy telling Nigerians that our country is broke. He should come out and tell Nigerians how much he spends on every trip outside the shores of this country. We are gradually sliping away in our global ranking. Buhari should stop giving flimsy excuses and fix the economy or he should resign to Daura.

  42. The presidency and APC did say they had no problem with Saraki. They Said they had no hand in Saraki's woes at CCT. They lied, as usual.

If Buhari / Presidency had no issues with Saraki (because he refused to relinquish his throne at the senate), why would APC leaders be planning to reconcile Buhari and Saraki? It's like giving a bald / skin head man hair cut. Pointless. APC-led government never tells the truth. They have no respect for the masses. They need TB Joshua to deliver them from the spirit of lying.

Now, didn't they make it seem as if they were harassing Bukola Saraki because he committed a crime by allegedly under declaring his alleged assets. Saraki wasn't guilty of anything. APC leaders wanted to intimidate him to vacate his post as senate president.

The point is, whether they reconcile Buhari and Saraki or not, Saraki defeated APC leaders and Buhari. We don't like Saraki or APC, but, we support him as senate president. He's the only one that deserves to occupy the position.

There might not have been problems between Saraki and Buhari, if not for the APC leaders that poisoned Buhari's mind against Saraki. Certain APC leaders from the South West put pressure on President Buhari. Those people should be dealt with. Buhari should ostracise those people that tried to create enemity between him, Saraki and the National Assembly.

It is really wrong and awful that the CCT, a state owned law enforcement agency was used by APC leaders to terrorise the National Assembly, and to smear and dehumanise one of their own. It was so horrible that APC supporters and us, PDP supporters that would never have supported Saraki were defending him and calling for his maltreatment to stop. Yes, stop, because if today they are allowed to brutalise Bukola Saraki or anyone, and get away with it, tomorrow, it might be us.

APC leaders need to do away with lawlessness, impunity and injustice, or they will be held accountable for the sins they commit while in office, and they shall be held in Kirikiri when they are out of office. You have been warned. Don't get carried away just cos you're in power. Nothing lasts forever. Remember that, APC leaders.

Those elders, are not TRUE elders, neither do they have the love of the country at heart. If someone break the law of the land it is left for the court of the land to tried the fellow according to the law of the land and let see how it goes from there. You don't excuse lawlessness just because someone belong to your camp.Nigeria as a Nation is bigger than anybody.

  63. The only thing which APC has going for them is Buhari. Should Buhari abandon APC, APC is finished. No Buhari, APC cannot win anything, let alone playing at federal level.

Saraki's trial at CCT was an act of intimidation to force him out as Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly.

They wanted Bukola Saraki out of the way so that they can have total control of the three arms of government:
    EXECUTIVE, SENATE and JUDICIARY.

APC-led government is not a government.

They are a gang of vagabonds in power.

    APC leaders are ROGUES.

APC can't bring change to Nigeria.
