Many Nigerians have been complaining since yesterday about their accounts being frozen by their banks despite the fact that they have done their BVN registration. CBN spokesperson, Ibrahim Muazu, had on Sunday November 1st said despite the expiration of the October 31st deadline for BVN registration, customers will still be allowed to do their registration but however their accounts will be made inaccessible until they do their registration.
However reports from many Nigerians show that even after doing their registration many months ago, some banks have gone ahead to deactivate their accounts. Many say they could not withdraw from their accounts yesterday, leaving them cash trapped.

It happened to me last night.
ReplyDeleteDid my BVN at UBA months ago, and last night I couldn't withdraw with my UBA ATM.
They asked me to bring my BVN to the bank to link it to my account.
Hello! I applied for BVN at your bank, you generated it and texted me the number, now you're asking me to bring it back to you for linking?
How dumb is that?
I go shout for their head today. Let them get ready.
Sincerely speaking the mind of Amadioha
Am sure with the influx of people of recent that registered got them confused. They'd better release people's money.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a robot.

ReplyDeleteCase in point... myself, I was one of the first people that registered for bvn in first bank, I have an account in first bank and I couldn't collect money from the atm... how frustrating!!! I had to walk to the nearest fbn and was told I haven't linked my account to my bvn number...HUH!!!! I had to complete one form and waited till this morning to collect money from the atm... not just fbn... other colleagues that use other banks complained of the same issue... at least if u registered in your bank, your bvn should be synced with your account at once... #inefficiency
ReplyDeleteI hope am not a victim!!
ReplyDeleteMy Sister Fell Victim.

ReplyDeleteI ve done my BVN but I got a massage that my BVN's nt linked to my Acct due to differences in details. I can't just understand this bank issue.
ReplyDeleteYes!!! Gtb and uba una well done ooo!!
ReplyDeleteGTB wrote me a mail and instead of asking for my BVN for them to do the needful, they told me that my account is limited to credit alone. I laughed because if I get there this Friday for a debit transfer and they delayed it I will seek judicial review. I have since last year done my BVN with FBN. Linda please tell them to be careful.
ReplyDeleteMy friend go and submit your BVN to other banks so that they can link it. Na so una no go do the right thing, yet una go dey complain

ReplyDeleteWas at a pharmacy yesterday to buy med for a critical case, brought out my ATM only for d machine to deny d transaction......question is what if I was walking cashless n I needed DAT med badly for my pain.....only God knows wat would av happnd.

ReplyDeleteNow that's uncalled for. what's it with this BVN thing self? U register, na wahala.. u no register, na wahala.... CBN and our commercial banks should be careful in going about these BVN issue
ReplyDeleteThe situation is indeed pathetic. I was posted to Kano for law school and I tried using the ATM and I couldn't withdraw. Thank God I still had some cask with me. I expected the bank to have at least notified me on any issues they had with linking my BVN to my account. Instead they just froze it.
ReplyDeleteSame happened to my friend. Its a big Shame that such things can't be handled properly without error.
ReplyDeleteI'm still cash trapped cos GTBank has refused to pick my call so I can update my BVN
ReplyDeleteLinda, i'm inside gtbank as I speak, to link the bvn with my acct number which I didn't know until yesterday when I wanted to withdraw and I couldn't get money. Choi! I almost cried. The crowd here ehn! No be small
ReplyDeleteI personally submitted my BVN at GTBank, The Plaza, at Adeyemo Alakija, VI. I also had to fill a form and waited until the lady at the desk said I could go after wasting my time. But yesterday, Nov 2, I received a message from GTBank that my account has been frozen. That is called INCOMPETENCE!
