15 month old baby found alone in a home several days after her grandmother died

Authorities say a toddler was found alone in a Tennessee home several days after her grandmother died.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports a Maryville Police Department report says the 15-month-old girl was found alive but dehydrated and very hungry on Saturday.

The police report says her grandmother, 58-year-old Anette Ineichen, was found dead in the house. Officials believe she had been dead for some period of time.

Police Chief Tony Crisp says the child was brought to a hospital, where she was treated for dehydration and lack of food. Crisp says the child has been released into the care of the Department of Children's Services.

Police visited the home after the toddler's mum said she couldn't reach her own mum on the phone for some days.

Ineichen's daughter, 28-year-old Tracy Ineichen, says her mother had been caring for the child since she was jailed in September.

Police say Anette Ineichen's cause of death hasn't yet been determined.

  4. Oyinbo & their solitary confinement. Trust me in Naija you can't die more than 24hrs without someone noticing. Worst is my village where every morning the greeting delegates in form of relatives move around on a greeting spree every morning.

  29. Thank God...please the authorities should tamper justice with mercy by releasing the mother from jail to take care of the child since the child 's guardian has passed on...for the sake of that child please let the mother be free.

  31. The mother of the young child couldn't reach her mum and notified the right authority and this child's life was saved. What if she were in prison in Nigeria, where she would have had no access to a phone? Nigeria has been a developing nation for too long, it is high time we utilized our oil money to effectively develop this country.

  32. Disadvantage of living oyinbo life where everyone mind their business. In Naija, it won't take up to one hour, neighbours would have found out . Although, folks in Lekki phase 1 and ikoyi have started practicing the oyinbo way of living. Repent y'all. Be your brother's greeter every morning. Lol
