10 reported dead after fighting broke out in Taraba following election tribunal verdict

10 people are feared dead with over 50 injured after figh broke out in Wukari local government area following the state election petition tribunal verdict that sacked the state governor, Ishaka Darius from office and installed APC's Aisha Alhassan as the duely elected governor of the state.. The tribunal sat in Abuja yesterday November 7th.

Residents say some miscreants who camouflaged in military uniforms, stormed the area and started attacking residents. The state police is working towards restoring peace to the area.

  7. The tribunal verdict is victory for democracy and should be welcomed by all people of good will.
    But trust misguided elements to always try to take the law into their hands.
    May the souls of the dead rest in peace.

  11. I am currently in Taraba State and there was nothing of sorts that happened. Please ignore false alarm. Stories like this carry a lot of weight and should not be fabricated to make headlines. Yes there were shootings from the late hours of 1:30 am to am 7:00 am but no casualty was reported. A few cowards are shooting guns from a far and putting fear in the minds of the people living there. Thanks to a firm response from security agencies and community leaders. the situation now is calm and peace is restored.
