Nurse breastfeeds infant during surgery to calm her down

A nurse has gone above and beyond her duty when she breast-fed a one-month-old patient during a surgery this week in Guangdong, southern China. The baby girl, named as Wei Wei, was in the middle of a surgery on September 29 when she started crying and wouldn't stop, reported People's Daily Online.

Li Baoxia, who was still lactating, decided to step in and breastfeed the infant patient, who then calmed down so the surgery could continue.

Surgery continued successfully while the nurse breastfed Wei Wei.

According to reports, the baby was undergoing a surgery for an anal abscess when she started crying and couldn't stop.

Due to the baby's age and size, only local anaesthesia was used, which meant the baby could still move.

Li Baoxia had just finished a surgery in a neighbouring operating theatre when she heard about the baby's condition from a colleague.

Without hesitation, the nurse stepped in and breastfed the baby to calm her down.

She then continued to breastfeed and hold the baby while the surgery continued.

The heart-warming scene was captured by a member of the medical staff and shared online.

After the successful surgery, Wei Wei's father was extremely grateful towards the doctor.

He held her hand as he said: 'Thank you! You not only cured my child but also breastfed her. As a father, I cannot thank you enough.'

The father then exclaimed, 'You're an angel nurse.'

That sentiment was echoed by many Chinese web users since the photograph emerged on social media such as Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter.

However, many also questioned whether the nurse had the right to breastfeed someone else's baby.

It is not clear where the baby's mother was or whether the nurse had permission from the family before she stepped in to help.

The surgery was successful and the baby is recovering well.

Nowadays people use social media to hype "news" but with a hidden agenda...
This is extremely bad and it's a case of child molestation.
This baby is not the first one to ever get surgery and sure enough such complications have occurred numerous times in the past... They were successfully dealt with using other methods right??!!

  8. I can't believe some mentally derailed people are bringing right ish into a matter that is as delicate as this. What matters is that a life was saved & the father is grateful. They can all shove their opinion down their throat

  19. Oh wow! She's so kind hearted. In that kind of condition, her tantrums could disturb d operation and even if d mother was there she might not be able to stand d sight of her baby's open body. So critiques should go and take several seats.

    1. Look for you where? Where did you carry your insensitive, zero-motherly-instinct, two left legged self to in the first place? To the extent that after the surgery, your husband thanks the nurse and you're still no where to be found? Torr! Bring Back Our Wife/mother!

    2. I think that nurse shld also divorce her husband( if she has one) & marry the child's father so she can also provide 'vaginal servs 2 him. What about the child's mum, what 'pacifier'
Here is a nurse who just finished participating In a surgery only 2 stick her breast in another person's child mouth, in the name of what??.
D't tell me about this. It is tacky. This is sex & this woman is loose. Embarking on selfish sexual gratification.
What if somebdy is having an erection in surgery?? Woe be tied all these ppl illegally experimenting with humanity.

  21. The nurse have the right to save the baby's life, so weather to breastfeed the baby or not is inconsequential.

  28. She did the right thing to save the baby's life, whether she had the right to breastfeed the baby or not. When the father of the child had no problem with it, why should strangers feel they must have an opinion? That's a good woman right there, the nurse.

  29. Hope the nurse is healthy? I am sure I won't accept such unethical behaviour towards my child. Cry dey kill person? Can't they ask d mother to come in n breastfeed her?

  35. She did a weldone job but she risked the child's health and her job. She could have call the child's mother to do the breastfeeding instead of her to breastfed someone else child whilst the mother is stil alive and very much around in the hospital.

  39. What she did was partly right .Parental consent is not required for minor (<18yrs) in emergency situation, prescribn contraceptive, treatn std's , drug addictn and pregn . But anyway i wouldnt want to try this in my practice here in America... You can easily be sued for doing good
