No herdsman would kidnap Falae - Fulani group says

President of Jamu Nati Fulbe Association, a Fulani socio-cultural group in the South-west, Alhaji Salihu Kadir has denied allegations that Fulani herdsmen were responsible for the kidnap of former presidential aspiant, Olu Falae or even engaged in acts of kidnapping in the South West of Nigeria.

In an interview with Daily Trust, Kadir said no Fulani herder who is preoccupied with feeding and nourishing his herds of cows and sheep would think of kidnapping anyone, not to talk of an elder statesman like Falae.

He said calls made by Afenifere group and a two time minister, Femi Fani-Kayode that Fulani herdsmen must be banned in the South West, were unfortunate and will amount to denying herdsmen their means of survival and invariably hurt the economy. He accused other farmers in the south west of committing crimes and blackmailing Fulani herdsmen
“Nobody would say this act was committed by the Ibo, Yoruba or Hausa, this is unfair. Every time a crime was committed, it is Fulani that is always responsible, enough of this blackmail. This is the major challenge we are facing. The Fulani herdsmen are only after the welfare of their cows, yet we are being blackmailed consistently. Farmers would lie against us that we are responsible for the destruction of their farms and they would present fake pictures and evidence to the police in order to implicate the herdsmen"he said

  7. So they have a president of some sorts. When these menace maim and kill innocent people, their leaders all remain quiet. Now that they are facing the threat of being banished, they are speaking up? If the yorubas have any sense, they'l contain the activities of these fulanis.

  13. In as much as hate the nefarious activities of these Fulani guys,I still maintain that banning them from certain parts of the country or even sending em out of Nigeria isn't the best solution. How do people think the Fulani guys would fold their arms & watch themselves bejng thrown out of this goddamn country? Since when has two wrongs ever made a right? People are so quick to sound the drum of war without looking @ the long term effect of that war.
Just the same way govt is fighting this insurgency, that's the same way I expect it to take this Fulani ish serious. I know the mayhem they caused in my town & I'd be the first to see em go.But mehn its so not right to the few honest ones amongst em.

  18. Na wah o, but will d elder statesman be lying? No I don't believe he is lying. I doubt if president of that association can vouch for every single herdsman in that state. So he should not conclude till the police is done with investigations

  19. Majority of these Fulani herdsmen are insane and sick. Mr Fulani group spokesperson, how would you describe the attacks, mayhem and butchering carried out by your mad herdsmen nationwide? You still get mouth and guts to talk? Better go call your illiterate zombies to order.Oshi ati iranu mscheew. Chineke kpo kwa unu Oku. Efulefu!

  21. Much as I hate to admit it, FFK was right, the Fulani herdsmen have wrecked a lot of havoc;they are heartless and evil...News reports abound of them wiping out entire families for no just cause except to take over their farmlands to feed their wrinkled cows!! #BantheDemons!

  22. I like the fulani tribe. Very cunning. Very good at damage control. I was expecting this, and also from a demented aboki paper like 'Daily Trust'. No normal human being reads that sectional Al Quaeda paper.

  32. All the allegations cannot be false.in plateau, in benue, in the delta, in most of south west; all can not be lies.

  33. I am glad someone is speaking up, the Fulani nomads are the most peaceful and loving people ever, they shy away from people and don't are about anything but feeding their cows and taking care of their families. They are oblivious to what is happening in the world , you will be surprised a lot of them have no Idea who the President of Nigeria is. Why would Olufalae be a target to the herdsmen ? What will a Fulani man that has no Intrest living anywhere but in the wilderness with his herds do with a ransom of 100 million Naira. Common Nigerian let's always do our background checks well.

  34. Is better To be kidnapped than to be killed. Fulanis kill without thinking. They are so heartless

  38. Look at this man
So the ones killing and stealing from farms and houses in jos and other known places are caucasians abi?
    Nonsense!

  39. Well to me, the people that abducted Falae re professional kidnappers, they re not Fulani. They coordinated the operation well that police or DSS could nt get to them. This can't be done by illiterate fulani herdsmen.

  40. Rubbish! My church member has been kidnapped since June on Lagos-Ibadan expressway since June and up till now, he has not been seen. All the people arrested so far (at the point of collecting their ransom) and thereafter are Fulanis
Their operations mode is as narrated by those caught are exactly like Chief Falae said.
Let the Seriki go and warn his people well well

  42. This is a very annoying, unrepentant and insensitive rebuttal displaying the notorious arrogance of these parasitic Fulani scavengers. They used their cows to destroyed Falae's farm, the man took them to court and they were ordered to pay him compensation which they did partially. Thereafter they returned to kidnap the man and recover their money inform of ransom. Yet this block-head wants us to believe that his barbaric people were not responsible for the heinous crime. All other Nigerian tribes must united and rise against Fulani atrocities in Nigeria.

  43. Shut up, your herdsmen are also robbing people on asaba road in delta state and other part of Nigeria . Using their cattle as excuse , also destroying crops planted by farmers. There was an incident that happened to a family friend of our. His elder brother was killed in the farm by one of them in kwara state , his wife manage to survive their attack. This nomadic men are criminals o! Killers too.
