Blogger allegedly arrested on the order of Gov. Amosun released from police custody

The Chief Magistrate Anthony Araba of the Magistrate court in Isabo, Abeokuta today finally signed the bail bond of the arraigned blogger, Emmanuel Ojo Adediran, who was arrested over the weekend over a Facebook post alleging that governor Amosun's wife was involved in money laundering in London. At around 3:00pm, Ojo was released from the remand prison to his team of lawyers.

His release however didn't come without an event. The counsel to the Nigeria Police approached the court to request that his bail bond should not be signed as the police isn't sure of the sureties provided by the defendant even after confirming the authenticity of the properties presented.

Magistrate Anthony however ruled in favour of the defendant stating that he can 'no longer be pushed around'.

  4. Day by day, it is becoming clearer to me that our democracy is in the hands of the wrong party. Somebody should tell me we are still practicing democracy. Freedom of speech is no longer a right.

  11. And this is the same Nigeria Police Force I'm expected to take a case to? This pay-as-you-go police? Once you tell me you're a policeman, I cease to have anything to do with you.

  20. Well done and God bless you Linda Ikeji. For all the bloggers that use their platform for good and not just for monetary purpose, may God bless you all. If it was in the days when we did not have social media, this guy would have suffered and probably be killed. Well done and more grease to your elbow.

  30. Governor Amosun is a saddiest, he want to re arrest d guy before his team of loyalist rescue him, d gov. & his wife shd forget abt d guy and made it clear to d good pple of ogun state and Nigeria d reason, dey act so low like dat cos we all know d former president sign d existing bill of freedom of speech, if an ordinary governor cld remand a citizen of d state in d custody of d police, dat means d former president would av jail million of Nigeria who mock his wife both in comedy, social network and oda means.... Gov Amosun & wife shd remember... dere's God in anything dey are doing.
