Photos from the traffic robbery at Oshodi on Friday

Can more readers send in photos and tell their stories so we can share here? The more these cases are brought to light, the better our chances of getting the police to pay more attention and do something about it. Another LIB reader shares her story after the cut...

Unbelievable and like a movie to me I was attacked yesterday at oshodi before the LASTMA office by after 7pm, I just passed the Total filling station‎ on the right when suddenly a guy came up to my car and was telling me to wind down. Well of course I didn't and the next thing the glass of the door was broken. My phone and money was taken from me, I was left in shock and later started shouting for help but instead the people in the cars and buses around were telling me to calm down. I was terrified Linda. Please Linda use this recognition you have earned to help advocate for security on Lagos roads especially in the mornings when people are going to work and evenings when they are returning back from work. This social problem has become a daily thing and like a norm. I trying hard to get the pictures of this sad incident away from my mind.

One of the causes is traffic. Had it been the road was free, he could have drove off. The government should please look into the matter before more harm is done.

This is a daily occurrence at Mile 2! Mike 2 Festac side and Mile 2 Badagry express way. At CMS too. And the police cannot say they don't kn because EVERYONE knows these spots. If everyone knows, how can the police not know??? I believe these boys give them a cut at the end of the day or something. Ambode help us! It's not only to collect to tax from us. Provide safety for us in the mornings and evenings. Help us please! It's ridiculous that these robberies happen so brazenly and no one even flinches. It's almost unbelievable. Is it until they start killing people before Lagos state does something about it??? HELP US AMBODE! Do something!

God punish them all...... all this useless guy way no get work, sorry Linda

Linda please post comments on time. Don't post comments after the post has scrolled all the way down. That's exactly how to get the people that matter to NOT read the post and help us. Thanks.

Nigerians will only stare they won't do nothing. 30mins or an hour after the scene that's when people will want to help that is if its inconvenient . I lost a course mates of resent because of this attitudes, he collapsed and people were just spectating, after 20-30mins these spectators rushed him to the hospital that was how he lost he's live. What's the 30mins waste for? We really need to change our attitude.

It's terrible! A daily occurrence & its unabated! I had an encounter with them last week. luckily, d day was still bright about 1800hrs, as d 2 guys asked me to wind down, I did & immediately brought out my WEBB belt & gave a stern warning! Knowing I was equal to d task, they immediately retreated. Men, d way these guys harass motorists freely on that Oshodi freely is shocking! They look haggard like ex-convicts!

So this has become a fucking everyday occurrence now abi?????? My wife was robbed last week with both back windows of our brand new car shattered. My friend was robbed at the same location on Wednesday..with some broken glass getting into his son's eye who was sitting in the back seat at the time. Has this now become the norm in lagos???? Where we now have to change our windshields on on daily basis?? Governor Ambode this wasn't the case during the past administration. What are you doing about the safety of lagosians sir!!!!!!! Or are you just there to further enrich your master Tinubu?

Anonymous said...

We need police presence at all these locations!!!!!!! Armed police!!!!!!! Should we not even leave our houses anymore? What kind of fucking country is this????? Murder! Robbery! Kidnappings! What kind of fucking country is this!!!!!!!!

Touts n thieves r now bk in d streets of lagos, instead of Ambode 2 face his work n concentrate on d welfare of pple lyk Fashola did, he's busy prosecuting Fashola. He had better wake up 4rm his slumber n jump in2 action cos lagos is alrdy sleeping o

How about you people have a Long knife, Cutlass or Pepper Spray in your Car? Our Law support Self-Defence. You can fight these Idiots with those

I sympathize with the victim. It is a terrible daily menace unabated. These guys look haggard like ex-prisoners! I had an encounter with them 2 weeks ago. Luckily, the day was still bright about 6pm. The two guys approached and asked me to wind down, I did & immediately brought out my Webb belt with a stern warning! Sensing that I was equal to the task by God's grace, the idiots retreated.

I had a similar experience on the other side of the line. They asked me to whin down or risk the car being vandalized. I play along by rolling the glass down and gave them some money and they left.

Exactly the same thing happened to my parents around the same area some weeks back.. it's quite unfortunate that Oshoodi is gradually returning what it used to be back then.. Ambode need to double up.

Get a taser or a gun and stun them.

Oshodi is a home of touts, Ambode should wake up from sleep because this is more reason Why we voted him into power, to fight corruption and provide adequet security for us.

This has become so common in Lagos. Its scary! What's that stupid Ambode doing! His almost invisible. People are complaining everyday. Is it till we take laws in our hands and start killing these thieves ourselves? Hit & run! If the govt won't help us we'll help ourselves! Rubbish.

Unknown said...

Sorry bout your loss....thank God for your life

Am very sure you don't know anything about advocacy, I pray you get the kind of recognition Linda has earned over the years and lemme see what you will use it for. If you don't know please see the power of advert, may be you can learnt from there, the people they for advert, celebrities etc

Lol.

We didn't need d cost if d chain, PLUS we know u were not inside bus.....

Meanwhile, you can return to Ilu Oke if u r "beginning" to get tired of Lagos!

On a serious note, Gov Ambode, you need to START working n STOP hounding Fashola! Let d works if ur hands win u a second term cos I can assure u Lagos people will throw u into the Lagoon if you do not perform and we would elect someone else!

A word is enough for d wise....

These boys are seen at this locations smoking.

What is Ambode doing about this?

Anonymous said...

The driver of a pick up van was robbed right beside me on Wdenesday morning at about 6am .
The men acted as if they wanted to cross the road on this same OShodi bus stop.

Linda, please help prevail on our governor to wake up.

Ambode can start by clearing these boys from our bus tops .

They are sighted at these bus stops daily.

Help those of us that take these routes daily.

Dis same touts came nd said police deflated all d tyres for security reasons. These same touts have vulcanising machine nd dey took turn pumping tyres 200 naira per tyre. My point is d police may still settled by these boiz to allow dem operate. Lagos is a hell hole ptchew

It's sad that we have to put up with this menace.. Can I say that those that got away with just giving them money were accosted by touts.. Armed robbers are hard to get rid of.. Please don't stop for people to cross and avoid black spots if you can ...this is not about Ambode only... the enforcement agents that Fashola engaged were not there for his term only... Civil servants responsible for safety should do their work or resign for more competent and people

That same Friday evening, three ladies sat beside me in a bus, they had been robbed earlier in another bus they had taken from adeola odeku to Obalende, one of them was bleeding from a head injury inflicted on her that day. They had asked to use my phone to call their people at home, it was just so sad, this robbery thing is becoming something else! Something has to be done

I was going from Okoko to Mile 2 on the Lagos Badagry express road and right after Alakija/Mazamaza section, there was stand still traffic and it was raining. These hoodlums started coming out of the woodworks banging on the doors and windows shouting that we should wind down the windows, they want to eat etc...they did it to several cars and we were stuck in the cars and could not move. We refused to wind down and the driver pretended to grab a gun to scare them off. The guys shouted that if it was dark, they would break our windows. It was truly scary!!!

Anonymous said...

Ambode get off ur ass and work , you weren't elected to be vindictive and chasing Fashola up and down. We voted for continuity in Lagos. We can't regress to this constant robbery and lack of safety. It will just get progressively worse if it's not attended to.They cld start killing too.
Fasholas effectiveness is coming to light now. He paid a lot of attention to security, constantly mobilizing the security officials so they had no excuse.

Anonymous said...

Gov Ambode, pls what is happening. Lagos is gradually going back to the old times. I narrowly escaped similar attack in Oshodi on Friday when some hoodlums stormed the bridge at around 9pm. Even the roads are becoming worse. Abeg make yo no fall our hands o!!!

Anonymous said...

I just pray and hope Gov Ambode or someone in his govt is reading this. Lagosians are not feeling you guys. Lagos is becoming inhabitable again. The roads are bad and the hoodlums are capitalising on that to rob Lagosians.

If pride will not prevent you, i will suggest you ask Fashola how he did it. Lagos was working for real!!! EKO O NI BAJE LOWO YIN O!!!

Unknown said...

Instead of Amobe to work , he is busy attacking and chasing Fashola for what Fashola knows nothing about..
