Ogun police commissioner orders men to shoot-on-sight kidnappers, ritualist

Ogun state police commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali, has ordered his men to shoot on sight any kidnapper or ritualist caught in the act. The commissioner gave the order at the state police headquarters in Abeokuta while parading some ritualists, armed robbers and kidnappers who were recently apprehended by the state police

"Criminal activities in the state are becoming alarming everyday in the state and drastic action has to be taken. Ritualists are killing people. We won't tolerate that. When you see them in action, they should be shot on sight. When you see them perpetrating action that are unholy, bring them down. Once you find any policeman that is not discharging his duty correctly, please report such. The Inspector General of Police, Mr.Solomon Arase, has initiated 'Stopthebribes' initiative to ensure effective policing. Ogun State is fast becoming investment haven and we will not allow criminals to take away a good enabling environment from us. We are ready to comb criminals out of their hiding places. I want to inform you that the issue of ritualists and cultism will not be tolerated any longer."he said

    1. Really. Does that sound legal to you. Police has now become the judge, jury and executioner. Does this commissioner even know what his job entails.

  6. That's not right sir. You could kill the victim alongside the captors. Our NPF are trigger jolly fellow. This order is only going to justify their killing spree.

  9. Is that even legal, unless the kidnapper is posing a visible threat to the victim or the police, they should just arrest him. Naija police cannot shoot to maim or disarm they only shoot to kill

  16. What about due process? Hopefully nobody is ever mistaken for a ritualist or kidnapper because the police now have official clearance to be judge, jury and executioner. So much for rulenof law. @babashegi

  18. supported but due to recklessness of our police force, there maybe cases of mistaken identity. Seems ogun state is now the headquarters for rituals and kidnapping.

  19. i dont know where to start with this so called inspector general of police.... if you shoot on sight, then what ever happens to the rule of law, where every criminal or suspect has the right to be tried in the law court, and how do u even intend to apprehend the accomplice if u already killed the person that will lead you to them..... this man needs to be replaced for making such statement

  21. Those foolish police men we kill innocent people. Thinking that they have the law in their hands. Biko ,take it slow with us.

  22. Wrong order. These policemen will start killing innocent people now and claim they are ritualist/kidnappers.

  23. the man is right, you guys dot know what is going on. many policemen have lost their family members to these criminals after they are released on bail by the court. the shoot on sight directive is most welcome. taking them to court waste time. the police are tired of cases of kidnapping and ritualists with the court of law not helping by allowing such cases to drag on for years.

  27. He must be replaced immediately. This will quickly create awareness to other ignorant policemen of the legal system which we operate in this country. What happened to rule of law, due process, etc? I know there are many evil people committing terrible crimes like kidnapping ritualistic killing etc. however, these people need to be apprehended and caught and interrogated to fish out all their backers and supporters. Also, people can be wicked. An evil person could set up and frame an innocent person to look like a kidnapper or a ritualist. They would then shoot on sight to kill only to later discover their error. No. We should never allow a man who makes such irresponsible and barbaric statement remain in such office. I can imagine what he does to all those innocent young men found wandering the streets at night because they could not get transport home etc. people are wicked O!!
