Press statement from revered lawyer, Festus Keyamo
The so-called “uproar” over the perceived “lopsided” appointments made so far by President Buhari is nothing but an orchestrated frustration of a few jobless politicians who depend only on government appointments as their means of livelihood and, of course, the noise of the latest opposition party in town. The majority of Nigerians want to see good governance, pure and simple, and care less about the ethnic origin of those appointed into positions.
My worry is that the decade-long general division of government positions into “juicy” and “non-juicy”, and the mentality that these few “juicy” positions must be shared equally amongst the major ethnic groups was nothing but a contraption of the old order from which we have just liberated ourselves.
To my mind, all government appointments pose an equal challenge to those appointed as a call to higher service of fatherland. All public positions come with an equal responsibility to be honest, forthright and dedicated. To go further to classify them as “juicy” or “non-juicy is just a euphemism for positions that have enough money from which to steal and those that are “dry”.
Therefore, any agitation from a section of the country to get “juicy” positions is only an agitation for their kinsmen to be appointed to steal enough from which they would benefit.
I therefore unreservedly condemn, in the strongest of terms, the so-called “uproar” about “juicy positions” going only to a certain section of this country.
All sections of this country should be happy and content with whatever positions that the President deems fit, at the end of the day, to give to their kinsmen.
After all, the President still has a long way to go with appointments. He has not even filled up to five percent of available positions.
Please, let the President be.
Thank you.
FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.
I am observing

ReplyDeleteGod bless you keyamo... you are on point..
ReplyDeleteFestus Keyamo is a bastard, is he telling us nobody not even one person from his region is credible or competent enough to merit a position? So it is only the people from the north that can move Nigeria forward... The north have been the ruling class for donkey years with nothing to show for it, na only north get sense to rule Nigeria abi? Foolishness of the highest order.
ReplyDeleteYou shld return to school. You have malaria of the brain. Read what you just typed, does it make sense to you? Get a life and use your brain wisely. It took God hardwork to make you. Put yourself to proper use!#nuffsaid

ReplyDeleteNow I'm loving dis Festus guy, didn't know he was dis sensible. Linda take note!
ReplyDeleteShut up. Mr sycophant. Buhari's regime will hit u hard as you mastered the act of shaking corrupt for their money. I wonder who you are going to shake now. And by the way, stop masquerading as a right activist because you are not. You are an activist for those corrupt people that can afford to grease your palm and not for the masses. The only true activist, Gani, is gone. The rest of you are nothing but masquerades. I won't be surprised if have already started angling for the post of AG even though you know u are not remotely qualified. Half baked lawyer covering up his inadequacies with the cloak of activism. Little wonder u lost most of the very easy cases that you handled for the government. Linda, if u like publish it, if u don't want to, eat it. I have said a piece of my mind regarding this charade of a lawyer.

ReplyDeleteGood talk!!!
ReplyDeleteI like what pmb is doing. He is a core northerner and can rule with only his people if he so desires. He got 90% of his votes from there. If ever a southerner smells the seat again he can use only southerners and heaven will not fall. Nigeria has never and will never be one. Pmb is on a revenge mission pure and simple
ReplyDeleteYes, buhari is on a revenge mission to DESTROY NIGERIA. To destroy the South
DeleteGbam
DeleteKeyamo should shut up.He should concentrate and read his law books well so that next time he will be able to pass the SAN exams Attention seeker.
ReplyDeleteGbam! Gbamer! Gbamest!
ReplyDeleteGod bless u sire!
Thank u Festus Keyamo, Buhari vindicated
ReplyDeleteWell said.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time ever, Festus Keyamo sounds to me like an imbecile, who is dressing the truth in order to be noticed by the current government.
ReplyDeleteTo over simplify an issue as complex as ethnic divide in Nigeria is simply being naive and I know Keyamo is not naive, so he's definitely just looking for attention.
I am an ordinary Nigerian. A yoruba woman who spent 4hrs on the queue voting for Buhari And another 8hrs defending my vote. I do not know any politician nor was I paid or canvassed by anyone. I simply believed that Buhari would be a better leader and so far, I am extremely disappointed.
The last time this kind of arrangement existed was during d days of Abacha. Does Keyamo realise how many years Buhari has just set us back?
I'm all for appointing competent people but for Buhari to infer that only northerners are competent through his appointments is a big insult to all Nigerians.
Soon we will be back to d era where every government parastatal u go has pple speaking hausa everywhere cos the oga at the top has employed all his village n community pple in place of other more competent and qualified Nigerians.
true talk
DeleteAre u aware that those offices have express orders n are very influential in offering employment into any organization in Nig? Hw will pple frm other geo-political zones benefit frm such. Pls stop ds sycophancy.
ReplyDeleteMy dear revered lawyer, it beats me that a man of your calibre could stoop so low to support a govt that is violating the Constitution on a daily basis. I don't really care if buhari appoint everybody from his family lineage but the Federal Character is something that is Enshrined in the Nigeria Constitution. What buhari should do first is to expunge the Federal Character provision from the constitution, then he will have the legal authority to appoint anyone of his choosing. So, Mr. Esq, I thought you were a constitutional lawyer and if so, why would you encourage such an illegal act being perpetrated by this new regime?
ReplyDeleteThis is the only constructive comment here.
DeleteThank you soo much Mr Festus I know president Buhari will not listen to all the criminals shouting bcos of there own selfish interest, please Nigerians leave Mr president alone, all we want is change thanks
ReplyDeleteNice one
ReplyDeleteHe has over 600 appointment to make, garba shehu told me that. So pls allow him to be.
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome dude!
ReplyDeleteThank you sir...God bless you. how I wish Nigerians think like you. I do not care if all appointments of individuals to PMB's cabinet all come from Daura, katsina state(PMB's home town) as long as they perfom their duties and have integrity. Let's stop all these ethnic and religious sentiments in governance. It does us more harm than good.
ReplyDeleteSee who s talking abeg shut up, buhari is so tribalistic
ReplyDeleteI just fell in love with you keyamo.
ReplyDeleteI haven't commented on the uproar at all because its clear a lot of my fellow Nigerians are without common sense as common as it is,
Whilst some tribes are singing, rapping, blogging, trading, getting degrees in makeup and gele tying, instagraming, playing football etc etc some are going to school.Truth is all the aforementioned are fantastic money spinners and has put Nigeria on the globe more positively than our politicians have, the president obviously simply can't find enough honest people to go round.
Its important to surround yourself with people that will help you deliver on promises made.I DONT CARE if the people are orangutans,so long as they deliver. You and I will do the same.lets be honest except you are lily livered and bow down to pressure. However when you fail,no one will blame the Edwin clarks or the orubebes or the oritsejafors. They'll blame that man (GEJ) who couldn't say NO because he wanted to please you and I even when YOU and I are thieves!!!!
Ghennn ghennnn
ReplyDeleteThank you Keyamo!!!
ReplyDeleteCharge and bail lawyer, Abeg close that your stinking mouth, Noise maker.
ReplyDeleteBuhari the tribalistic Hausa Goat!
Femi Fani (Loud Mouth) must copy this! He served as Aviation minister nd cud not account for Billions because of a faulty Judicial system he is still working a free man till date. Campaigned for a failed government nd became a failure himself yet ppl tink a man like Fani Kayode can direct their line of thought jst bcus he finds himself in d opposition today?
ReplyDeleteA man hu can't even keep a family together?
Haba Nigerians!
Ben @8:52p
DeleteWetin u dey talk.
This is Keyamo, a lawyer.
Not Femi Fani Kayodo.
Well said boss....tell them.with our previous sharing, what did we gain?
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. People have turned government appointment to money making opportunity, stealing without shame or any sense of guilt. We need to be delivered from these parochial view which is nothing but a manifestation of egocentric and innate corruption. I couldn't care less who is appointed as long as the system works well and stealing is now known and treated as corruption.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mr Keyamo. You are entitled to your opinion and you just expressed it. So you can have a seat now. The simple truth is that Nigeria is in delicate times now as regards politics. She is sitting on a time bomb so to speak! Issues concerning politics should not be handled with kids gloves.
ReplyDelete#TeamBlessed#
Isokwa, what are clamouring for? Recognition or favor from buhari? Festus biko mechie onu make we hear something
ReplyDelete"My worry is that the decade-long general division of government positions into “juicy” and “non-juicy”, and the mentality that these few “juicy” positions must be shared equally amongst the major ethnic groups was nothing but a contraption of the old order from which we have just liberated ourselves."
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS THE KERNEL OF THE MATTER.
Hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteABEG, THANK U JOOR.
ReplyDeleteHis opinion.....
ReplyDeleteThis is just the honest truth.Unfortunately,so many Nigerians have chosen to remain foolish on account of the men of yesterday who almost ruined the country & sowed deep seeds of discord while at it.Look at us now,'fighting' & calling ourselves unprintable names.Americans,Chinese, Germans & Brits love their country & took it to where it is today. They worked at it together. We on the other hand, are hard at work chipping at the bricks that hold us together
ReplyDeleteWell said...
ReplyDeleteis this guy sick or something???, as a lawyer dont you think its wrong for justice sake and equity that the Federal character Act be strictly adhered to ? . is PMB going to tell other sections of the country that there are not competent and more qualified candidates than people from his section of the country. he should be ashamed of himself, i dont care what kind of development they all think they can achieve, looking at the rate of development between the North and other regions,it shows the highest level of recklessness from the side of Northern leaders and therefore they should not even come anywhere near Government because of that. Mr Keyamo you are very wrong
ReplyDeleteBig fool
ReplyDeleteNice one and my sentiments exactly.
ReplyDeleteTalosobe
ReplyDeleteU av spokn well,m tots exactly
ReplyDeletewell said my able lawyer.... they should all shut the hell up
ReplyDeleteWith all sincerity,Keyamo had said it all.One of President Buhari's mission is to effect and stabilize "Change" in every nooks n crannies of oue country Nigeria.I personally believe that those he has politically appointed so far were chosen on MERITS,COURAGE & COMMITTMENTS.I dont think "tribalism or ethnicity" shld have a say towards d "Cleansing" to effect dat "Change".We shld just wake up to d fact dat PMB is already our president..But some immatured and naive people like Linda Ikeji and others are still pained and still embark on childish n unnecessary critisms. We all have no choice to prayerfully support Buhari with love of God and Nigeria in our hearts rather than making crazy comments! Lets all talk and discuss issues as INTELLECTS.
ReplyDeleteSycophant!!Hameed Ali that hanged Saro Wiwa and Abba Kyari that wrecked UBA before Tony Elumelu revived it are the competent hands. There is no sea in the north but they have always been MD of NPA. The north has little or no border enforcement but they are always the best to head customs. An emir sanusi in now going in and out of aso rock at will.
DeleteYou are surely a very big fool! You just made me to start doubting if truly you are a genuine graduate of law.... Surely you must belong to the same category with that old man... Association of fake certificate holders!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you explain the appointment of a criminal like that col. Hameed Ali to head customs?... Someone that has been secretary of Arewa consultative forum...whose main interest is advancement of northern interest...as far as I am concern, he is a sectional leader and he is not worthy of that office.
People like keyamo are the major problem we have in Nigeria,..the simple fact is that Buhari appointed people like col. Hameed in order to use the customs to cripple the igbos economically knowing fully well that they are in control of the maritime commerce in Nigeria. Good education is suppose to give one an analytical mind but I am so disappointed in the kind of education keyamo has....very selfish and self centered half illiterate lawyer.
For making this press release, I assure you that thunder is in the gym pressing irons in preparation to strike you and your entire generation..... Mark my words, Buhari will never give you what you are begging him for because you are not one of them and you don't belong to ACF!!

ReplyDeleteLINDA LET MY PEOPLE SEE THIS VIDEO
ReplyDeleteWhat appointment is Festus Keyamo looking for please? The post of the Minister of information would have fitted him but unfortunately, Adams Oshiomole has taken it.
ReplyDeleteGod bless your soul Keyamo! I can't comprehend the roar myself. If Buhari likes, let him appoint only his household, extended family or even robots, I don't care. My concern is that they all deliver. It's only natural to appoint people who one can trust and feel compatible with. The Nigerian situation is way beyond appointments to please because at the end of the day, I'm pretty sure Buhari wants to succeed and he should be left to employ the strategy he deem fit! Let Buhari rule in peace please!

ReplyDeleteThe bad tin in Nigeria is that the "self perceived elite political class" feels they are the only intelligent people capable of handling political offices by appointment or elections.
ReplyDeleteLet the truth be told, every tribe in this country has intelligent, target driven and honest people with proven track record, hence political appointments should be evenly shared by the progressives who's clamored so much for change. Nigeria is a country so diverse on ethnic fronts, so a sitting govt must be able to show that his govt has federal character, that it is all encompassing and that the man at the helm of the executive truly belongs to no one
Obviously as a lawyer whose trade is to memorize lines, show logic and argue as it suits ur case, u must have been a bit poor with simple arithmetic. I understand that the president has made about 20+ appointments and if thats less than 5% of the appointments to be made, are u saying he's picking well about 500 hands in "juicy positions" to help sail the ship(Nigeria)?
The "juicy" positions and tribes clamoring for it just to embezzle funds u talked abt is pathetic. Someone can better the lot of his people even when he discharges his duty in all honesty, a decent representation puts ur own people first or a not too distant second, it is human nature and it is so inherent in all Mr president has done so far with appointments. I dare to ask - to what end is the voice you lend the president?
So my Warri lawyer, the agitation and criticisms is healthy and any APC member that's got something to offer should be brought on board, what matters is the persons efficiency, credibility and track record, believe me,those people are evenly spread across Nigeria. Our very respected president shouldn't pick evenly when he must, like the constitution stipulates about ministers.
The change was driven by Nigerians, fought for by Nigerians and won by Nigerians, not just the Northerners, add a voice to that of Nigerians and respectfully urge the president who's liked by his people to show the working that he belongs to us all.
GOD BLESS UR BRAIN FESTY!!!.. YOU HAVE SPOKEN WELL.. GULLIBLE MINDS, YALL CAN CONTINUE WAXING YOUR DEMOS.. GMB ISNT BOTHERED..
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much Festus, You always earn my respect. It is becoming increasingly disturbing how these few appointments made so far has become a hot topic of debate. For me, this is the change I voted for and I will be more than happy if all appointments at the end the day come from the same local government by merit and not by partisan.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Keyamo. Well said!!!
ReplyDeleteKeyamo is definitely off the mark. I agree with b the fact that what is important to majority of Nigerians is performance by whomsoever is appointed. But equally key is the sense of oneness and fairness that our country with its delicate and complex multi ethic and multiracial realities that should be exhibited in such sensitive appointments. This becomes even more pronounced given the abundance of eminently qualified and competent hands that can be found in all geopolitical zones of the nation. That way there will not be much of the agitation going on by sections that now feel alienated. The past governments recognised this critical need for geopolitical balancing. And the effect was that no such loud complaint as obtains now happened. Nigeria is one and if this notion of oneness is to be sustained then recognition of the need for such delicate balancing has to be made by any one in power in making sensitive appointments. The excuse that there are more appointments to make is not good enough as the nucleus of government has been established with the appointments made so far. All others are important but not in equal degree with ones already made.
ReplyDeleteStupid ,useless keyamo .seeking for appointment.after sucking EFCC dry.OLE!

ReplyDeleteJust two points in response to Keyamo's views and I will rest my case; One, if fair sharing of appointments to all states/geo-political zones is nothing to President Buhari,he can as well just scrap the Federal Character Commission. Two, APC had better not cry foul over these appointments because we were all here during the NASS leadership tussle, when one of their national leaders,Asiwaju Bola Tinubu stated categorically that "merit should never be substituted for zoning." I rest my case.
ReplyDelete#tbt - Truth be told!
