Why I can’t pay workers salaries - Rauf Aregbesola

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State says the drop in allocations to the state from the Federation Account is largely responsible for his inability to pay his state civil servants their salaries. Aregbesola said this after he received an award by the Voice of African Women for Human Dignity, an NGO at Abuja yesterday July 24th.
"I have found it hard to pay the wage bills owing to the declining federal allocation to the state. Federal allocation to the state has reduced by 40 per cent since 2013, thereby making it difficult for my government to meet its responsibilities,” he said.

  12. Foolish and selfish government, we are in a federal system of government. So if your state can not argurment the dwindling federal allocations with internally generated revenue, then it will be better to merge it with other.

    ReplyDelete
  13. What about changing the headline to: "Why I resigned as a governor- Aregbesola". If you can't fucking pay salaries, resign. Stop shifting responsibility. In Nigeria, what it means to be a governor of a state is to receive allocations from federal and distribute. No thinking outside the box to internally generate wealth

  18. It then means you had excess when you were given pupils free food and teaching aid. If it dropped by 40%,you should be able to pay,at least, every other month. If you had done that , I am sure the civil servants would have adjusted accordingly;assuming, you were a governor that could be trusted, which is very rare in Nigeria. I believe what a commentator said, sometime ago- you wasted the state funds on your re-election .

  28. Ogbeni, resign nah if you can no longer perform your duty! I'm so sure the so called award that was given you was arranged or bought over by you! It's even laughable to hear that the award is for 'human dignity'! What sort of dignity is that when civil servants and pensioners are dying in Osun State due to unpaid salaries?!!!

Do you know how many women and children have died b/c of unpaid salaries and his embezzlement. this award that you gave this man has been given to you in HELL. Pls Nigerian we need to wake-up and do something about these corrupt leaders. we shouldn't continue to wait for Buhari cos clearly he can't do anything even if he truly intend to. imagine those that accompanied him to America. Do Nigerians really believe that Buhari doesn't know how corrupt Ameachi, Tinubu, Okorocha & Oshiomole is? and many r so carried away cos he said he won't spare even does within his party. just lyk he promised he will clear those "cowards"(boko haram) in 2 weeks. Nigerians wake and pray fervently for ur country.

  60. Sir..Pls stop it! You know you used the money for your election! Besides, why are these governors so lazy and myopic. Haven't your learned your lesson????!! Start looking for ways to generate funds internally. Believe me, even single state in nigeria has the capacity to build an economy on it's own. Ugh!

  67. For goodness sake, paying workers salaries should be ur number one priority. So what did u do with the available allocation from fgn. You are not worth to be a governor if you ask me.

    ReplyDelete
  68. hmmmm.why him is receiving salary ooo. hmmmm our govt only loves themselves .

    ReplyDelete
  69. Well, i am not surprised. This simply tells you the kind of people we have as Gov. The only source of revenue they know is Federal "allocation". All their campaign promises are based on the allocations. No single initiative on how to generate "revenue" internally. I can see why our gov are wasteful - since the money are allocated not generated. No labor , no brainstorming. Only sharing formulae. I just hope Nigerian voters are getting wiser now.
