Jumia Shares Love in Kano for Eid-ul-Fitr

The essence of living, they say, is giving and every season comes with its own meaning. Ramadan, for one, brings with it an atmosphere of giving and sharing and it is in this spirit we at Jumia made our way from Lagos to Kano, simply to put a smile on children’s faces.

The Jumia ‘Share Love on Ramadan’ is a love-inspired cause to improve the quality of lives of orphans in the Northern region of Nigeria.

This led to the interesting discovery of the Nasarawa Children’s home. After putting a call through to find out what their needs were, we speedily took to work. A heavily subsidized Ramadan store was created on the Jumia website for Nigerians to also partake in this life-changing experience.

It was a tremendous success as hundreds of items were amassed in our warehouse and shipped from Lagos to Kano to arrive on Friday morning at the children's home in Kano with items ranging from a 7.5kg washing machine to clothing items, toys, shoes and many other precious gifts.

It was a dream come true for the Nasarawa Children’s Home as our dispatch offloaded the many gifts we got for them at their premises on Friday, 17th of July, 2015. The excitement we met was nothing compared to what we envisaged when we decided to make the trip to Kano.

We had a wonderful celebration at the Children's Home and all kids joyfully participated in all the fun games including the dance and singing competitions with winners going home with prizes for a beautiful Eid-ul-Fitr. We thank each and every one of our customers who purchased items from the Ramadan store to have made it possible for us to share love this Ramadan and remind ourselves of the joy and fulfilment that comes with giving.
