  22. In the statement which they released, they still didn't address the issue of what led to the closure of the cafe. I think they are just being clever by half by mentioning all the awards they've purportedly recieved, without addressing the issues at hand. The question remains, "was the cafe using expired and spoilt products to prepare food meant for public consumption"? That question is yet to be answered.

U got the first hand info that evening on the arrival of those nafdac officials and u were forming not wanting to give the details yet. Even after getting the details you didn't clarify the air. Chocola Royale has been experiencing little or no sales since the re-opening on the 7th of June and guess what . Your had to be paid to report otherwise. Please get your sorry fake slimy two time serpentine dentitioned self and stop trading human life for money .

  44. once again the wool has been pulled over ppls eyes. where in the world is it uncovered that a restaurant has been using expired products for a period of years and 1). the mainstream media including blogs are either silent or vague and brief in their inquiry into the matter and the required condemnation 2). Not a single person/owner/even scapegoat self is identified and prosecuted. last time i checked acute food poisoning can kill. trust nigerians to chop the bribe and issue back their right to trade. now they want to sound like unicef. im disgusted. i for one wont be patronising them anymore. imagine if they hadnt been exposed? shame on you linda for not posing any of these issues afterall u dictate what posts are put up and conveniently inject your views when it suits u it seems or maybe you have been paid too and believe in this rubbish statement they have just put out.

  50. These people are crazy, they dint state the reasons why it was shut down. The things foreigners do in our country Nigeria, its sincerely sad. Things like this will never happen here in the UK, how can you shut and re-open a place where people eat without informing them reason why it was shut. All of this na buhaha, I hope Nigerians don't patronise them anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I see no explanation in this statement. Or am I missing something

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thought you would have started with an apology for molding my sable out of maggot and expired products which I took two days before the incident.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Story for the gods. I don't know why so many high ranking Nigerian officials are so negligent, how could they reopen this place without thorough and proper investigation??? In every rumor there's a certain amount of truth. Those that still patronise them should do it at their own risk!

  58. once again, the wool has been pulled over our eyes. where in this world are allegations by nafdac (an organisation tasked with protecting consumers - not just the rich) agaist chocolat royal for using products that have expired for over 10 years written off in the space of weeks with no single person held to account at least to the knowledge of the general public. even more suspicious is how a case which borders on public health (last time i checked, acute food poisoning can kill) was largely missed by the mainstream media (maybe they were afraid that exposure would prompt action against their 'friends') and vaguely reported by some blogs (most of which conspicuously left out any opinion - yes i'm talking to YOU TOO linda). As someone who has patronised chocolat royal in the past, i can tell you that this issue is not one to be swept under the carpet. The minute we nigerians realise that we are human beings just like the western people, and start valuing ourselves, shall we have the real change that people have been shouting for. They write in their poorly prepared statement and jingly radio adverts that 'sensational reports' do not truly portray who they are yet , no mention is made of any of the allegations made against the company. using ingredients that expired since 2004 is the same as attempted murder. people's hard earned money went into their pockets and all they got back was food poisoning along with other ailments that they may never know came from chocolat royal. another point, it was fellow nigerians like me and you working in this establishment and they knew about it and yet, did nothing about it. in all this, we are being treated like fools in our own country by outsiders. BOYCOTT CHOCOLAT ROYAL untill this matter is fully examined and the public is informed by the necessary authorities. until then, any patronage is a gamble with your health. something linda should have told us since

  62. linda where is your opinion on this matter? NAFDAC why isnt it you putting out a statement stating your investigation and allegations and steps for apportioning blame (which in this case based on the magnitude of the allegations must rest at the top) why is everything for sale in this country mtchew!

  78. Hhmmm?! They might have bribed nafdac officials for permission to reopen business! I didn't see anywhere in this their press release where they denied the fact that expired condiments were discovered in their store room!... This incident has already dealt their business a heavy blow! Their business will never be the same again! In fact, it's gonna take them many years to bounce back!!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Bullshit! This country sucks! I cant believe this is happening... How the hell can they re-open for business?

    ReplyDelete
  80. What utter rot. Millions of naira worth of expired food does not remain stocked in freezers because someone "forgot". Any hospitality business worth its salt regularly checks their stocks for close to or expired products and either discards or cooks it to be donated.
You sold expensive tasteless crap and poisoned people for years so you could make a bigger profit to fund your lavish lifestyle.
F#@k THAT sh%t about how long you and your family have been here. You who would never marry a Nigerian, but are content to collect money and spew racist crap behind our backs.
TL;DR: You DELIBERATELY bought expired food on the cheap, passed it off as expensive crap, got caught and now no one wants to eat your crap. You are losing money and so have resorted to begging.
    B*tch please.

The Nigerian government should be blamed for putting the lives of its citizens in danger and for giving these mindless economic parasites the audacity to run wild on us. An example must be made of chocolat royal for other foreign businesses who think we are just black monkey with money we know not what to do with to learn their lessons.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I am shocked to the marrow. In fact it is with shaky hands that i write this. After reading why chocolat royal was shut down i can believe it can be opened back for business. I also can't BELIEVE that some Nigerians could work for such a wicked man and kill their fellow brothers because of money. It is only in Nigeria that such a thing can happen. Thank God i was never opportuned to visit any of their outlet.#smh.

History hows how dubious you and your generations have been. You had such a lovely establishment and should have kept it classy, but no, you have gone round about again to do what is evil. We know you will soon get celebritie to come and endorse your outfit, celebrities being all out for money will quickly endorse you and ask followers to patronise you guys again, the gods of wurukuturu will deal with anyone who come on air endorsing ur outfit. 107. As a nation you wonder why we are not progressing. It appears that NAFDAC does not value the lives of Nigerians. The matter didnt even go to court.... Their operating license was never suspended. A court case would hav being a source of revenue to NAFDAC as an agency and a deterant to others. It would have sent a positive message out that we take health matters seriously...

Image the cheeky statement! Thats an insult! playing on our intelligence like we r kids! We should write a petition against this to Buhari. The NAFDAC chairman should be fired...I doubt if these companies arent shady in their Tax returns!
