Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has formally restored all the entitlements and benefits of Sir Celestine Omehia as a former Governor of the state. Governor Wike on Thursday also formally reinstated the official portrait of Sir Celestine Omehia amongst the line up of former governors of Rivers State at the Government House, Port Harcourt Executive Council Chamber.Performing the exercise, Governor Wike said that the decision to restore the entitlements and privileges of Omehia as former governor stemmed from the fact that he worked as governor of the state between May 29, 2007 and October 25, 2007, wherein he took decisions on behalf of the State and initiated projects. He said: "I hereby put back his official portrait among those of former governors. He is now entitled to the benefits of all former governors ".
The governor said that the era of politics of bitterness in Rivers State was effectively over, noting that it was not right to personalise governance as was done by the immediate past administration. Responding, former Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia described Thursday as the most historic day of his political career. He said that the restoration of his rights as a former goveenor indicates that his dark political days are over.
The event was witnessed by the Secretary to Rivers State Government, Kenneth Kobani, Rivers State Housing Commissioner, Barrister Emma Okah and the State Attorney-General, Chinwe Aguma.

DeleteGod bless you Bonario. The man has no plan for the state at all!
DeleteHahahaha you now sound dumb, truth with humor
DeleteDear Bonario, please ignore these rabble rousers attacking you, they are confused and ignorant, The Supreme Court which is the Apex Court in the country removed Celestine Omehia from office, so from where did Wike derive the power to reinstate him as a former Governor? To say Wike is supposed to be a Lawyer? This guy is a tout, he will show them pepper. Ride on Bonario
DeleteNice one
ReplyDeletewhere did we get all these agbero governors?
ReplyDeleteUr papa agbero..u awoor
DeleteWhy didn't amaechi give him these rights tho..ummmm.
ReplyDeleteCause the court of law ruled that he did not win the election and if he did not win the election how is or why should he be refer to as a former gov. I just tire for wike
DeleteThe court ruling in Amaechi's favour was the worst thing to happen to Rivers State.
DeleteWike d warrior

***CURRENTLY IN JUPITER***
It's all politics. But let's face the facts, the Supreme court restored Amaechi's mandate, which automatically invalidated whatsoever decisions and claims Omehia must have indulged in. Wike as a lawyer should know this, but like I said, it's all politics. And this is Nigeria, with weak institutions.
ReplyDeleteThank you my dear
DeleteI'm glad to see that there are still people with brains
U don't rewrite history, the fact remains that he served as governor for a period whether the Supreme Court removed him or not
DeleteSo by d supreme court judgement does it mean Rivers State had no governor d period Celestine Omehia was there?
DeleteNow people are busy praising wike, forgetting he was the one that ran the court errands used to unsit omehia. Funny enough the same man that's talking about ending bitter politics is the same person that started it, he spearheaded the removal of that portrait in the first place only to come now and replace it as to deceive his ignorant fellowers. If ameachi had played a bitter politics, both Peter odili and Celestine omehia would be in jail by now !
DeleteWike would have loved to smash Amaechis portrait and put it in dustbin..lol....politicking is over... time to get to work
ReplyDeleteGood one. May God punish Amaechi and Bonario of this blog for working against GEJ.
ReplyDeleteCongratulatons siR,such a handsome maN..so happy 4u..dz life can be amazing, just when one person thinks he can steal ur shine God uses another 2 restore ur glory & shine,it is ur crown of glory & God has restore it not even d devil can steal dz time..

Heya he still av to leave with d Ameachi's image looking @ him....
Well I don't get this one...
ReplyDeleteThe era of political bitterness is over ,yet he keeps fighting amechi.
ReplyDeleteWhen the court sack omehia did they acknowledge him as ever being governor of the state? It shouldn't be about what wike thinks, it is about the law. He should stop being sentimental. When Uba kidnaped then governor Chris ngige does that makes Mba a former Governor if he had illegally acted as one?
ReplyDeleteThat is my Governo chief barr Ezenwuo Nyesom Nwike.i commend him for this thou he has to stop this too much talking drama with rotimi and hit the work his called to do.
ReplyDeleteWaiting for actor chibuike amaechi to speak.
Ok seen, but why wasn't his portrait there in the first place?
ReplyDelete#TeamBlessed#
Ask Amechi... He's in a position to answer that..
DeleteLet amechi tell u why
DeleteIs that the work they voted him to do in Rivers State? Eye service man go sleep joor. Wike will even leave there soon, becos he was not the one who won the state election.
ReplyDeleteSo will U replace him? Stupid comment from a senseless fellow.
DeleteThis Man Should get to work all these dramas is not what Rivers state need now in order to move forward.
ReplyDeleteNice one Wike, Omehia deserves the entitlements. Amaechi deprived him his entitlement because of his bitter wicked heart.
ReplyDeleteGet to work and stop all dis irrelevant things.

ReplyDeleteThe scum is insanely confused as to his priorities on delivering his promises 2 the people of Rivers State.

This man go show Amechi pepper, no wonder Amechi applied all manner of strategies to make sure that Wike does not win, but the people's choice prevailed I guess.

ReplyDeleteGood job, now let the work begin...
ReplyDeleteGood for d people, no to politics of bitterness.
ReplyDeleteThis has got nothing to do with what River state is facing at the moment. He needs to awake from his slumber and face reality.
ReplyDeleteI live and work in R/S. Wike might not be perfect but he will do extremely more than Amaechi.
ReplyDelete1stly, if the election is conducted 100 times again; Wike will floor APC. In the past one year, the House of Assembly been under lock and keys. Rivers State under Amaechi was a mess, dirt littered everywhere in the state. Workers were owed several months salary. Timariv were harassing motorist helter-skelter. The State Judiciary was under lock for over a year....Lawyer could not work and awaiting trial suspect were rotting in Jail. Less than a month of Wike, he has corrected all the above listed challenges facing the state. The State was at a stand still under Amaechi , yet he was looting heavily and funding APC. Amaechi has 99.9A in arrogance and no regards for anyone. He insulted the former president and wife, despite the fact that GEJ never answered him. Buhari promised to go after looters at the Federal level and recover monies, I feel it's only right for Wike to do same in Rivers State. And Lastly, the LG scam election Amaechi engineered can never stand because there was a court ruling preventing the election from taking place. Justice for All. Cheers. Don Casey
Ok, cool
ReplyDeleteWike should stop playing to the gallery and focus on governance. It is a nice thing to do, but some of these things can be done with out getting the press involved.
ReplyDeleteThose this mean Ameachi removed his brothers picture?
ReplyDeleteThis guy will end up not doing anything but trying to chase the past!
ReplyDeleteAmaechi stole from omeha naa. It's not a new story even in church arch bishop Katy tired to settle their scores.
ReplyDeleteSome people talk anyhow.. how can Nyesom wike a barr do dis.. is wike above the law, supreme Court says omehia is was not elected now wike is trying to act cool for a man he brought down him self.. omehiaa eat with wike with a very long spoon and wike I guess u kw I kw y u are doing tht cos ur own dey come.. using nigerians money to drink lious de 13. God is watching u oo
ReplyDeleteThe supreme court, per Katsina Alu, delivering the lead judgment in the case of Amaechi v. INEC (No.3) (2007) 18 NWLR (pt.1065) p.105, declared Amaechi as the rightful candidate of the PDP, who remained so in the eyes of the law and should be treated as such. And being so, Amaechi was deemed to have won the election, not Celestine Omehia. It was based on the above reasoning that Omehia was asked to vacate the seat for the person (Amaechi) who is deemed in law to occupy it. With this Supreme Court decision, Omehia, in the eyes of the law, was never a governor in Rivers state. Therefore, what Wike has done is illegal. If his action of declaring Omehia as a former governor is challenged in court, it will not survive. Politicians ought to know that sentiments and law do not mix. If Wike wants to give Omehia any other special recognition which the law permits him to do, he is entitled to do so, but definitely not unilaterally making him a governor of a state. That is the height of illegal impunity.
ReplyDeleteHe is just deceiving himself, the supreme court annulled his election, that means him been a governor never existed. All it will take now is for a smart lawyer to go to court and Wike's decision will be reverted - Wike has shown how daft a lawyer he is.
ReplyDeleteSee Drama
ReplyDeleteRivers!! lol... see belle , see faces... no hope for Nigeria yet!
