The fake Nigerian police officers stopped the delegate on Marlboro Drive, produced Nigerian police identification and then took $500 and R700 from him.
The robbery is the second such incident involving international delegates attending events in South Africa. Last month a group of delegates attending the Pan African Parliament were robbed at gunpoint just outside their Midrand hotel.
The African Union Summit is being held at the Sandton Convention Centre.
