Photos: See what heavy rain did to houses at an estate in Lekki

Here are some photos of what happened this morning at Northern Foreshore Estate in Lekki, along Chevron drive, Lagos. Heavy rain damaged people's buildings. Thank goodness we don't have natural disasters in this part of the world. See more photos after the cut...

    2. Shut the f..k up. Linda learnt from the best, that is, other bloggers. I have been visiting her blog for a long time. Initially, she was not doing that until other bloggers started making their pics exclusive, that was when she joined the band wagon in order not to be left behind. So, my dear, don't blame her, blame bloggers that actually started it.

    5. @anon 11.19. Absolutely right. She copied 80 percent of her stories and customized her own exclusive stories which to me is a selfish attitude on her part. Live and let's live is what life is about and not being selfish. Most esoecially from someone that pulled majority of her stories. @anon. 11.47pm. Why did you call Anon.11.19 a name for? After alll not only was she on point with her comment but call Linda out on her selfish ways. If you like Linda don't post my comment since I call you out on your actions. I'm sure you read my comment and must have gotten my message point clear.

  21. Same thing here in Kaduna o. The breeze was so strong that it removed those giant bill-boards and it landed on peoples' cars. So many were injured, cars worth millions of naira were also destroyed. Thankfully, no one died.

  28. Sign of the times. May 29 at hand. Nigerians a are so behind. i am sure it was severe thunderstorm with high winds up to 50 mph or 80kmh but no electricity for metereologists to figure that one out.

  29. hmmmm the contractors that did this buildings needs to be questioned

  30. This happened because of the storm not because the houses were not properly built. My house was affected too in this same estate. Would you say the houses that were destroyed by earthquake, were destroyed because of faulty foundation?

    ReplyDelete
  31. It was quite an unfortunate incident. It clearly wasn't a matter of poor finishing or inferior materials. Houses in this estate have the best roof and designs than many of us have seen or heard of. A cyclone crossed from the ocean down to the lagoon on the other side of the island. All hindrances (including properties) along its way were affected. The damage outside the estate is even worse. I know because I reside in this estate! But the good thing is that most of the damages were fixed within 24 hours. That's why this estate remains the best managed estate in Nigeria according to the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). It beat the Ikoyi and Abuja estates to the title last year. Or why do you think GEJ claimed it was one his housing schemes during his campaign?

    1. You couldn't have said it better. The affected properties were fixed in less than 24 hours. That's property mgt at its best....especially in a country like Nigeria.
