Buhari, Osinbajo declare assets

President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have declared their assets according to the dictates of the Nigerian constitution.

According to a statement from the Head of the Buhari Media Team, Garba Shehu today May 30th, President Buhari and VP Osinbajo declared their assets on May 28th, a day before their inauguration and swearing in.

They both filled and submitted the asset declaration forms to the Code of Conduct Bureau who confirmed receipt of the documents yesterday May 29th. The statement in part reads “President Buhari’s Declarant ID was given as: ‘President: 000001/2015′.

The Nigerian Constitution states in Chapter VI Section 140, that a person elected to the office of President shall not begin to perform the functions of that office until he has declared his assets and liabilities as prescribed in the Constitution.”

    8. @Davido's driver, did ur GEJ do this? Instead he retorted by saying he won't do it even if he's criticized from heaven. Buhari and Osinbajo has followed the constitutionally laid down procedure, it is left for the authorities in charge to make what was declared public, and I know the two honorable men would have nothing against making it public as they have nothing to hide.

    9. What a very welcome "CHANGE?" Now all elective and political appointive office holders must follow suit without any delay.
On the special privilege and opportunity given by the G-7 Leaders to PMB to submit a "Wish-List," he should top of the list request a publication of "banks account balances" of all Nigerians' "Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs)" and corrupt civil/public servants in any part of the world, particularly in the Gulf States, Asia and South Africa. This shall go along way help the Administration to negotiate recovery of our looted funds without much stress of probes!

  13. Did Linda hero declare his own in 2011? Linda answerpoor. The true Jonathan said then he was not under obligation to do that. Can u imagine? So there is even a law obliging him to do that then. Well I don't blame him for refusing. He already had in mind that he was going to steal agrees stealing is not corruption.

    1. Try and make your point intelligently....jonathan declared but not made public, like the president and vp have done....however the freedom of information act can give us access to this info. They are obliged to declare their assets...they are not obliged to make it public

  26. Mchew did your immediate past President and his Vp declare their assests? What did ya'll do about it? The President and his VP have declared theirs and you are asking that it should be done publicly?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I wish Buhari, Osinbajo and indeed the whole country well. But come o, this is exactly what Jonathan and Sambo did and people were calling for their heads. Jonathan only said that he was not obligated to make it public and there was uproar. Now I hear people praising PMB for doing the same thing. Na wa oo! It is well.

    ReplyDelete
  28. For those asking that they declare it "publicly", you can actually use the FOI act as a basis for asking for the details from the relevant authorities. They don't have to post it all on their facebook pages or Twitter account to make it a valid declaration. They have done what is constitutionally required.

  29. Who are u for them to be declaring asset publicly to? As long as the National assembly, the court, senate, house of rep and parliament etc has seen their assets we are ok. Which one Jonathan and that thief Patience declare? Patience Jonathan that used billions of our naira to purchase air craft called Peace Airline and she went to keep the planes in Ghana. She is creating jobs for Ghanians not for Nigerians. Them think say we nor know? Na which asset them declare?. Abeg Buhari and Osinbajo carry go jare make bad belle people go perish if them like. 31. For Those of u praising them, mscheeew to you all as u were not properly informed or u dont read åt all. They did exactly what Fmr president goodluck did in 2011 and Serap had to drag him to court by exercising FOI right. So wat they did Isnt different from what goodluck did in 2011. I wonder what the praise Song and hype is all about. I am No hater and simply want the best for our great country "Nigeria", but i hate sentiment. "PMB promised to publicly declared" while campaiging so He should do that. Another failed promise. For those of you that needs facts, please google it up. Day 2, counting. You might choose to post my comment Linda, afterall is your blog.

  32. The should declare it publicly to strengthen our confidence in them.

  33. How can I know what they declared, their asset.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sometimes choice of language matters. GEJ explained why he felt public declarations should be discouraged, after declaration with CCB required by the constitution. It was during his explanation the famous 'I don't give a damn' was made. Exactly what he and his vice did, was what the present duo just did which is the only the constitutional requirement. Still on record, only Yar'dua and reluctantly his vice did go more than the requirements. The only CHANGE thus for now is that the present have not said 'I don't give a damn'. Maybe after presidential media chart, if any in future, and the same question is asked, we can then ascertain the degree of CHANGE they brought to this area.

Declare your assets publicly as promised ..

..I have no option but to agree that Nigeria entered "one chance"

  37. Wisdom my fellow country people. It's the leadership influence in man that made one man speaks and gets stoned, while another speaks the same thing and get a standing ovation. This same principle will give Buhari credit if he removes oil subsidy as against Jonathan.

  38. They should declare their assets publicly so we the people will know what they have. They accused GEJ of not declaring his assets publicly. Tomorrow PMB's farm will be the best in Africa. Its a shame they sticking to their campaign promise.

  39. I Emma, im saying, why not let us Nigerians know how much they are worth so that when they leave office we can determine if they have stolen Niegrian fund or not? Is it by just declaring?
