Obama phones Jonathan, commends him for his statesmanship

I've said this before and I will say it again - for what he did to ensure a peaceful election in this country, no bloodshed because he lost and even calling Buhari to congratulate him, GEJ is my hero. Posterity will remember him.

    4. Oh shut it, learn to call a spade a spade. He could have accepted the results without calling. U think if buhari did thesame on2011 the fulanis would have killed the way they did. I that is the right thing to do, when did buhari do it the 3 times he lost. if results were opposite, would he have done what Jonathan did, instead right now the streets would be painted with the blood on our brothers.

    5. GEJ is my Hero! You can't tell me who my hero should be or not! Get a grip girl, you sound so hateful! No Nigerian President has ever done what he did! International World recognised him,cos African Leaders are usually tyrannical and sit tights! Goodluck is a decent man! Admire him

  3. I'm a bit uncomfortable with the PGEJ the hero narrative. I appreciate the fact that he conceded defeat early and quickly but that doesn't make him a hero. In more common sense conceding defeat after you lose an election is what is expected from every democrats. You can't change his story from being a failure to hero today. If you make GEJ a hero now so quickly, it sends the message out to Buhari "I can fail and still be their hero" You won't tell an abused woman to be grateful to her husband for signing the divorce papers quickly so why are you grateful to PGEJ for conceding defeat? I'm sorry for putting a spanner in the work of your sudden hero worship of PGEJ. I couldn't let you all continue the praise and worship. For a matter of fact he lost in the 2 polling units inside Aso Rock & also lost in all Army Barracks nationwide that should send a signal to us all & despite the rigging the numbers and calculation doesn't just work out for him. Maybe history will be kind to PGEJ in a different way but this isn't a factor considered to be an hero but if you agree otherwise I'll say we should start thanking the colonial masters for abolishing slavery. That was something nice too. And on a lighter note We didn't say Buhari is our saviour, we just voted out a government we are not satisfied with to give another a chance. Because we can't allow the country to be in the same shape for another 4years just because we fear the unknown. If Buhari doesn't perform Nigerians will come together with a voice and vote him out but until then let's support and believe him. I'm glad to be part of this change history. Congrats once again to the people's general @thisisbuhari . God bless Nigeria

    4. If u think what GEJ did is nothing ask GMB. GMB is a bad loser. All the years he lost the election even when he lost to Yar'adua his fulani kinsman, he never accepted defeat but instead cried foul. His inability to accept defeat led to the death of so many Nigerians in the North. If GMB lost this election, u wouldn't hv been enjoying this peaceful atmosphere you are enjoying now. No matter what u hv against GEJ, accept d fact dt he's a peaceful man and a one of a kind politician. Nobody can Tk it away frm him. He lost gracefully and walked away with his head held high

    5. So i guess buhari isn't democratic, because he never did this in the 3 elections he lost. Because Jonathan did it, it's not a big deal that's what he is expected to do. Please how many times did buhari do it 0-3

Thank u o Aboki...someone please tell Linda to stop with this hero propaganda bull shit...It is PDP's aim to make this hero worship viral so that we all forget about all the looting they've done n are still doing...so that we longer focus on their inadequacies... And Linda is allowing her self to be a PDP agent due to her partisan approach. We know he is your hero Linda but please stop blocking the comments of those of us that don't agree and shoving your opinion down out throat! Thank u.

  39. Dear Linda, I think our standard in this country are so low.

How can you call "doing the right thing" and heroic act.

Its like me saying you are a hero fro breathing.

Its commendable he did such, but it does not change the past terrible governance we've had over the past 5years, the shameless way they ran their campaign or the attempt to frustrate the election.

    Don't promote mediocrity, I'm sorry!

  40. Nice one from Obama.Gej is a nobleman but my hero in this election are the electorates. The ones who risked BH attack to cast their votes. The ones who defied the rain to ensure they exercise their franchise. The ones who stood under the sun to choose the man that will lead them. And the ones who died in the process. The elections remained peaceful coz the masses united to pursue peace.

  52. GMB has won, we have heard. Change has come,
we agree. The Nigerian Lee Kwan Yew has
arrived. We welcome him. However, we expect
    to see this change PRONTO.
Constant electricity in four years. WAEC pass
    rate
should be 90%. In four years. There should be
no more potholes on our roads. In four years.
We shouldn't hear of crime. In four years. There
must be no corruption in ANY sector of our
public/private lives. The Naira should gain
grounds against foreign currency(that one no
favour me but I go still talk am). In four years.
Fuel price should be N16. In four years. All of
these and many more. In four years.
To all those who rained abuses on GEJ and
Patience in the name of campaign, all I ask is, be
as critical of the incoming government as u were
of GEJ's. Don't ask us if he's a magician oooo,
after all, GEJ was no magician either. We will not
    hear the excuse that
Nigeria's problems did not start with Buhari ooo.
We will not hear that change takes time o. Let
us judge him by the same yardsticks...after all,
what is good for Nosa, is also good for Musa,
    abi?
At the same time, we have not forgotten all the
promises o. Stipends to the poorest families.
Payment of 'allawee' to unemployed graduates.
Feeding Nigerian students daily. When he made
these promises, he knew about the country's
reserves. He knew that the crude prices were
falling. He said he would do it, and Nigerians
    believed him.
We should watch carefully. How will he
constitute his cabinet? What will his body
language be towards bigwigs in his party that
have been accused of corruption? How exactly
does he intend to "pight kwaroption"?
Four years is a long time. A lot can be done in
four years, For the sake of our dear country, I
sincerely hope that change has come.

It is still very shameful. And those saying he ensured a free and fair election, GEJ DID NOT ENSURE A FREE AND FAIR ELECTION, JEGA DID!!! SO YOU PEOPLE DONT KNOW THE PDP TRIED TO RIG IN SOME PLACES BUT IT WASNT POSSIBLE? In essence I'm saying, the election or atleast most of it was free and fair because they had no other choice, the citizens were fed up and this time our vote had to count! If there's anyone that's a hero right now, IT IS JEGA, only God knows how much bribery that noble man has refused for our sake! God bless Jega, He is the true hero here! We Nigerian are so used to ppl doing things the wrong way that we tag someone a hero for doing what he is ordinarily supposed to do. A hero is someone that does something extraordinary. GEJ only lost with 3 Million votes to GMB .....but remember in 2011 GMB only got 3million votes and GEJ got 11 million votes But inspite of that he GMB refused to concede defeat and congratulate GEJ and that was how he instigated violence many lives where lost in the North , especially corp members.... That was how I lost my best friend and someone we graduated together from the Univ......take it or leave it if GEJ had not accept the results.... Niger /Delta would b boiling by now... #GEJmyhero

  102. GEJ is a responsibility man

    ReplyDelete
  103. How does one accepting defeat make him a hero? Isn't that his job? The person we should be thanking is jega. Linda he is not a hero, he failed at his job, please let's not send a wrong message to Buhari. Free and fair election is part of the constitution... He is not a hero, yes a good man but not a hero, do you know a hero means? Linda go check your dictionary

    ReplyDelete
  104. So because gej congratulated buhari he is now a hero? Alright, so because Linda congratulated a friend on her engagement, she is now a hero? Okay.

    ReplyDelete
  105. The world is calling to congratulate Goodluck who lost instead of Buhari who won, this suggests something, Goodluck's act has made him take the shine from Buhari.Kudos GEJ.

  109. He is a hero for doing the right thing? Na wa for Nigerians. We have lost all value for ourselves to the point where we are now deifying a man who did what he is supposed to do. You forget how he, through his carelessness brought the country's economy to its knee. Na wa oh. We deserve better. He is not a hero for this...I would have called him a hero if he had giving up the first 2 years of office after realizing he couldn't govern this country. He is not a hero because he conceded. Sorry.

  110. DEAR LINDA

I ALMOST 100% AGREED WITH YOU ON THIS POST BUT THEN I SUDDENLY REMEMBERED A STORY YOU COVERED A FEW WEEKS AGO ABOUT THE LADY WHO FOUND $27.000 AT THE AIRPORT AND RETURNED IT.

    LINK HERE http://www.lindaikeji.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/biko-my-dear-lib-readers-help-me-weigh.html

I REMEMBER THAT YOU TOOK THE MORAL GROUND THAT YOU FEEL THAT SHE DID WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE ANYWAYS…….WHICH IS ….FOR HER TO RETURN THE MONEY TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNER………..BECAUSE IT DIDNT BELONG TO HER IN THE FIRST PLACE

LET ME QUOTE YOU SELF "Was Josephine not supposed to return the money? Was it hers to keep? If you saw money that doesn't belong to you somewhere, would you keep it? Are we not supposed to return lost items we found?………."Has our society lost its morals so much that returning money that doesn't belong to you is now something that deserves to get you a gofundme page? *sigh*"

SO, CAN WE USE THE SAME MORAL GORUND/PROTOCOL FOR THIS YOUR PRESIDENT JONATHAN STATEMENT AS WELL?

IS PRESIDENT JONATHAN NOT SUPPOSE TO GIVE HIS PRESIDENTIAL SEAT TO THE NEXT GOVERNMENT? THE SEAT DOES NOT BELONG TO HIM OR HIS GREAT GRAND FATHER SO WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL? ARE WE NOT SUPPOSED TO RETURN THINGS THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO US?

FINALLY………HAS OUR SOCIETY LOST ITS MORALS SO MUCH THAT GIVING THE NEXT ELECTED GOVERNMENT ITS RIGHTFUL SUCCESSION IS NOW SOMETHING THAT DESERVES OUR 'THANKING' TO PRESIDENT JONATHAN?

……..LOL….I'M JUST SAYING….JUST OBSERVING…………. CUZ I REMEMBER …….OVER A THOUSAND PEOPLE COMMENTED ON THAT YOUR POST AND I WOULD SAY 95% OF PEOPLE AGREED WITH YOU. I PERSONALLY STOOD STRONGLY ON THE FENCE ON THAT ISSUE….I WAS NOT FOR OR AGAINST IT. BUT I FELT YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE EVEN POSTED THE WRITE UP. I FEEL THAT IF YOU FEEL SHE DID NOT DESERVE A GOFUNDME PAGE, THEN WHY ADVERTISE YOUR FEELINGS OR EXPERIENCE OF THE MATTER ON YOUR SITE? IT MADE IT SEEM LIKE YOU WERE HATING ON HER ACTIONS EVEN THOUGH YOU SAID YOU WOULD REWARD HER IF YOU EVER MEET HER IN PERSON.

RATHER, I FELT YOU SHOULD HAVE HELPED PEOPLE WHO FELT OTHERWISE FIND OUT IF THE GOFUNDME PAGE WAS AUTHENTIC.

EITHER WAY, LIKE I SAID, I STAND ON THE FENCE…….IF I EVER SEE HER PERSONALLY, ME…….I WILL NOT GIVE HER MONEY, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, I WOULD NOT DISCOURAGE ANYONE WHO WANTED TO GIVE MONEY FOR SUCH AN ACT. ……..I WOULD RATHER GREET HER AND COMMEND HER. SIMPLE AND SHORT, EACH TO THEIR OWN.

AT THE END OF THE DAY….NOBODY KNOWS IF SHE WOULD HAVE EVEN RETURNED THE MONEY IF SHE HAD CHECKED THE BAG AND FOUND THE MONEY INSIDE IT. BUT I AM VERY SURE THAT MOST PEOPLE WILL NOT RETURN THE MONEY………EVEN I DONT KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO IN THAT SITUATION UNTIL IT HAPPENS TO ME. …..LOL…..MAYBE THAT IS WHY I AM STRONGLY ON THE FENCE ON THIS ISSUE.

WELL DON ON COVERING THIS ELECTION LINDA …….I AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS ONE….I JUST WANTED TO MAKE A POINT…I HOPE YOU GET ME………...HEHEHEHEHE……..THAT ALL

    GOOD NIGHT LINDA.

  112. What he did was good.. calling him a hero, that's too much. Aldoe I hear he knows little about what his aides do, but still his lack of responsibility has led to a lot of nonsense we will like to forget.

When GEJ publicly apologizes for the mistakes of his team and publicly takes responsibility (saying crucify me instead of them) then he is a hero.

    ReplyDelete
  113. U r a fool Linda! Glorifying a failure. Hypocrite.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I have said it too many times. Jonathan is the happiest person on earth. He is so happy to have lost. Now he is relieved. All those close associates. Go Rest. Hero, No! Weak politician. Yes! But Lucky person. Go Rest!

  115. most comments are based on our opinions which is good.. but then even if you dont understand African History or know anything about Power, you could have help your self by using the help of wonderful google to learn about any incumbent president mainly in Africa that left office peacefully without much violence and bloodshed maybe then you will understand why most people are commending GEJ acceptance.
