  40. Still on Lagos Elections, some of our Igbo friends and brothers are complaining of Marginalization, isn't it? It is high time we begin to put the records straight and clear all the misinformation going around. In my opinion, Lagos State has been magnanimous and accomodating enough which I don't think anyone should be crying wolf where there's none. Putting the records straight: (1). The Chief Executive Officer of LASTMA Transportation in person of Mr Young Arabamen hails from Esan Central LGA, Efo State. (2) Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget, Mr Ben Akabueze has served in this capacity since January, 2007 having first been appointed by Governor Tinubu and later re-appointed for Two terms by Governor Fashola. (3) The former Publicity Secretary for ACN and currently Publicity Secretary of APC, Mr Joe Igbokwe is obviously not a Yoruba man either. It may interest you to also know that Lagos State has been accommodating to such an extent of allowing Mr Joe Igbokwe double as the General Manager, Lagos State Infrastructures Maintenance & Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA). (4). Sometimes in 2013, when a lady Uzoma Okere was brutalized by a Yoruba Naval Officer, it was Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola who stood up, prosecuted the matter till the lady was compensated. My dear People, Lagos State has moved beyond ethnic divides and I don't think we should allow the shallow minded elements trying to use this as a tool for getting votes succeed in their evil bids. For continuous co-existence in Lagos

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You just discredited yourself by saying 'Lagos has been magnanimous enough'. Nigeria belongs to every citizen . As a Nigerian, you should be freedom to migrate to any state without the fear of being lynched or killed because of ethnic differences. That's when we will know what we have indeed made progress. Fashola did good by hiring deft staff regardless of their ethnic group.
The problem with Nigeria is our diversity . People don't trust what they don't understand. Our different cultures and languages are creating a divide . We don't love or trust one another . This affects us in every aspect on our lives, from employment to marriage. Do I think Nigeria will change for the better in regards to this this context? probably not! And that's why people need to watch what they say so they don't make insensitive and derogatory comments that could disrupt the peace we've been striving so hard to achieve.

    2. In addition to what has been said, the employment of these Ibos were specifically for votes. These are settlements for helping them out cos the ibo community in Lagos is massive. Pls don't mistake this with anything else

  42. Letter to Jimi Agbaje from a Concerned Lagosian - Uchenna Jimi Agbaje Should Desist From Making His Mandate An Igbo Agenda
    Dear Jimi Agbaje,
I wish to use this channel to make this unambiguouslly clear. As an Igboman who has spent a good number of years in Lagos, I am very uncomfortable with all your gimmicks in this electoral season.
It is important you take full cognizance that the contest between you and Mr. Ambode of the APC is for the post of the Executive Governor of Lagos State and not for any other State located elsewhere. Therefore I frown at your divisive campaign strategy of pitching law-abiding non-indigenous residents in the State against the rest of the good people of Lagos.
If anything, the outcome of the just concluded Presidential Election that saw the kicking out of a sitting President who hinged his campaign on such divisive antics, should serve as a lesson for you. But most especially, I frown at your latest plot of making your support-base primarily an Igbo Agenda. It will interest you to know that I have no problem with any individual voting for you, but you colluding with Ifeanyi Uba, OPC and TAN to exploit and undermine the peaceful co-existence between Ndigbo and their Host Community for your personal agenda is totally unacceptable. This good relationship you see today, took generations to build - therefore we cannot keep silence and watch you tear it down.
Keep your campaign open to all and desist from sowing the seed of division. And we have not forgotten how you promised to collude with Militants in Niger Delta to sabotage the economy if Jonathan loses. At least now if there is any crisis in the creek, we know who to bring in for details about the plan to sabotage the economy of Nigeria.
I wish you well and also look forward to hear you call Ambode once the votes are counted this weekend just like President Jonathan did.
    Please be wise!

    1. You are 101percent correct. Try and campaign based on what you have to offer pls don't go the part they did in the presidential elections. Slur campaign will not work. Sell us your manifesto and Lagosians will vote for you.
