Photo: Gospel artist RhymeStar Ray battered by soldiers for wearing camouflage shorts

Popular Abuja based gospel musician RhymeStar Ray Ekwu was beaten up last night by two soldiers on mufty for wearing camouflage shorts. He said he was coming back from seeing off a friend when the men accosted him. He said they slapped and beat him with their hands and belt and injured his ears but thankfully, it wasn't ruptured. He had to be treated in hospital.

  21. #considering robbers dress in camouflage I suggest entertainers should suspend dressing like so for now. Also soldiers when not sure should take the person to their barrack and hand over to military police in lieu of going violent.

#smh - JAMB has just been taken and candidates are checking their results however it is sad that some may end up attending schools abroad like University of Perpetual Help System Data, Philippines.

#smh - can a poor person give his or her savings to Goodluck? What has he done to reduce poverty?? Isn't it preposterous that they sing our economy is improving yet still the poverty rate is increasing that means economy is only improving for the very rich ones?

  82. By Richard Grenell - - Thursday, March 19, 2015
With the polls closed in Israel, international election observers now turn their attention to the Nigerian elections on March 28. The choice for the leader of Africa’s most populous country pits Goodluck Jonathan from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) against Mohammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The decision by the roughly 73 million registered Nigerian voters could have a profound impact on the future of Africa.

But Western foreign policy observers pre-occupied with the rise of ISIS in the Middle East should wake up to the reality unfolding in Nigeria. Opposition candidate General Buhari wants Sharia law throughout Nigeria. In fact, he wants it everywhere.

“I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria,” Mr. Buhari said. “God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of the Sharia in the country.”

Agitation? Is this an indication that Mr. Buhari supports violence because the end goal of the terrorist attacks throughout Nigeria and Africa is an Islamic state? It is a legitimate question that should be asked by leaders of the Obama administration.

Boko Haram has pledged its allegiance and support to ISIS. The Northern Nigerian based Islamic terrorist group wants Sharia law throughout Nigeria and beyond. They are also actively terrorizing Chad, Niger and Cameroon with their goal of an Islamic state.

Mr. Buhari has also spoken sympathetically about members of the terrorist group Boko Haram, has cautioned against a rush to judgement on its members and has personally been selected by the terrorist group to lead its negotiations with the Government of Nigeria.  Mr. Buhari’s election as Nigeria’s head of state would be a disaster for Africa. It would also signal trouble for the West’s fight against ISIS and terrorism throughout the Middle East.

  90. All over the world shops sell camo clothing, it's only in Nigeria that people readily accept any pronouncement banning them from doing things that they love. In so far as the camo clothing has no rank, why would anyone ban anyone from wearing it?

If the students, youths, lovers of camo clothing would stand up against this, these beatings and harassment would stop. No Nigerian law requires you should not wear camouflage clothing.

Its not carrying BB and expensive phones all over the place, people should put them to good use, mobilize yourselves and reach out to the Senate and house o Reps to pass a law banning anyone from harassing anyone for indulging in what he loves. Nigeria is funny, soon you might see tribes ban people not of their tribe from wearing their traditional clothing and this would easily be acceptable, Phew!! My name: Ortubu
