INEC ready for next week's general elections - Jega

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega says the electoral body is ready to conduct the general elections which starts next week Saturday March 28th. At a meeting with some Civil Society bodies in Abuja today, Prof Jega said the time provided by the postponement has helped the commission articulate its plan for the conduct of a successful election
"We believe very strongly that the period of the extension has been put to good use and it has added value and obviously we would be able to do a much better election and it also enforced our belief that the elections for 2015 will be remarkably better than the 2011 elections and in fact we believe it will be the best election in Nigeria's history" he said
He however raised concerns over the security of INEC staffs and NYSC members who would be working during the election days
"Clearly security remains an issue of concern particularly securing the staff of INEC as they are being deployed or as they are conducting the elections and also protecting the election environment" he said

    2. Yes there is something like 'staffs' when referring to that wooden cane used for walking referred to as a 'staff', the plural of which is 'staffs' e.g. there are two staffs in the closet, which one should I bring?

However in terms of employees of an organization, the plural of 'staff' is 'staff'

  23. #Lol - Jega helped PDP rig and announce GEJ as winner in 2011 and now he is a bad person because he doesn't want any more rigging.

#smh - I'm Ibo but I will vote Buhari. All the promises GEJ made to the South East nothing happened. Appointing Ibos to high positions doesn't mean he did anything for us. With GMB we are sure of Ibo presidency in 2023 but with GEJ we may never smell it.

    SAI Buhari

  27. Does anyone see the trick here... he said they are ready... BUT security is still an issue... that is the excuse they want to use to postpone d elections again... saying. they are ready, he is just pulling wool over our eyes.. I heard from a very reliable source that the elections might be postponed again. Biko if they make the silly mistake of postponing it again, we should all just brace ourselves for a military take over.

  46. #Lol - they want Jega out; why didn't Jega rig the election in favour of Buhari in 2011? They were both from the north then and GEJ from the south then? The difference is that now the momentum is with Buhari because we all rallied around for Jonathan, yet still he failed us woefully!

#Classic - BUHARI TO BUILD 4 REFINERIES IN 4 YEARS (He built 2 before in 2 years so why should we doubt him?)

#SMH - People keep saying bad eggs from PDP to APC; THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT THESE BAD EGGS WILL BE LED BY A GOOD EGG! Nigerians are bad drivers but when they go abroad they become the best of drivers because they are made to be held responsible for driving badly unlike in Nigeria when 500NGN or less can get you out of trouble.
